Sehun's POV
"Are you sure you don't want to go with me?" I asked Sejeong, holding her close to me as I planted a kiss on her lips.
I pulled her closer by the small of her back and raised a hand to gently cup her jaw. "Open." I whispered as I slightly pulled away before kissing her again.
"Mm-mm." Sejeong hummed in disagreement and minimally shook her head.
I felt her smile through the kiss to annoy me. "O-pen." I repeated through gritted teeth which made her giggle.
I slipped in my tongue and pressed on hers, occasionally roaming it around as we lazily engaged in a deep kiss. I felt Sejeong bring her arms around my neck and caress my shoulder blades before grabbing my shoulders to push me away.
I laughed as I pulled back but she followed to plant a final chaste kiss. "I can't go with you, I still need to pick out a gift." she said.
I pouted at her and blinked my eyes a few times. "Can't you do that after we eat at the restaurant?" I begged and picked her up, spinning her around. "I don't want to be away from you on my own birthday."
Sejeong laughed as she insisted me to bring her down which I complied to after she pinched my side to crumble my strength. She caught her breath, putting her hand on her chest before speaking.
"Come on, it's just for a while. Plus, the boys will be with you when you visit oppa's cafe and they're already outside so hurry up unless you're waiting for the cherry blossoms to fade." she said and pushed me out of the room, closing the door.
I stuck my tongue out towards it before stomping my way down the stairs where Baekhyun and Chanyeol were. "Ready to go?" Chanyeol asked, shaking the car keys that were hung on his finger.
"Yep."
We drove to Taehyung's cafe with Vivi on my lap, caressing her back from time to time. I looked outside the window to see a lot of people roaming around the streets. The trees almost grew back their leaves, reminding everyone of the spring season.
"We're here." Baekhyun said.
We all got out of the car and entered the shop, immediately spotting Taehyung playing with the dogs. Vivi wiggled in my arms and barked in excitement. "Oh, missed him?" I said and let her down.
She quickly ran to Taehyung and he caught her in his arms. "Omo, you're here already. How's Sehun-ah taking care of you, baby?"
Taehyung saw us by the entrance and told us to go where he was. "Happy birthday." he greeted and gave me a quick hug, bumping fists with Baekhyun and Chanyeol. "So Sejeong told me about it and I'm only doing this because you took good care of her and Vivi. Just pick a dog bed to your liking." he said.
We scanned through the cushions until Vivi went to a pale blue one and laid down on it. "Hm, good choice." Taehyung said. "Where did she use to sleep?" he asked.
"On the bed with me but I sleep on the couch sometimes when she's sprawled across the bed." I explained.
Taehyung laughed at my words and patted my back in understanding. We conversed a little more before he proceeded to pack the cushion, decorating the box with a gift wrapper. "That's unnecessary. I already know what's inside." I told him.
"The thought counts." he remarked and winked.
We waved goodbye to Taehyung and went back to the car. As soon as I put on the seatbelt, I felt my phone vibrate.
'You guys done yet?' - Jagi
I smiled to myself and tapped on the keyboard while trying to stop Vivi from blocking the screen.
'We're on the way there.' I replied.
"Sejeongie texted?" Baekhyun asked, looking at me through the rear view mirror.
"Yep, let's go." I told him and we drove off for the restaurant.
---
"What? They're outside already? I told them to stall!" I heard Sejeong shout from inside the restaurant.
I looked at Chanyeol to see him laughing while he covered his mouth. "Looks like they prepared something for us, huh?" I told Vivi as I carried her in my arms. "So do we go inside now or let her finish?" I asked them.
Baekhyun looked at me in comical disappointment and huffed. "Let's let her finish." he decided.
I nodded in agreement and walked towards the entrance. "Okay, let's get inside." I said, hearing them laugh from behind.
As soon as I opened one side of the two door entrance, I saw Sejeong standing on top of a chair with some sort of ribbons in her hands that she tried to hang on the wall. There was a big picture of me posted on the wall with letter balloons on top that read 'Happy Birthday'.Sana, Wendy, Jihyo and Daniel saw me at the entrance but I signed them not to speak as I let Vivi down.
I walked quietly to where she was, still struggling to hang the ribbons. "This is too high. Niel, do you think you can hang this one?" she asked and then turned around.
"Oh my god." Sejeong exclaimed and covered her face when she saw me which made everyone burst out in laughter. She groaned in embarrassment so I stepped forward to hug her waist, my face by her stomach because she was on top of the chair. "Why are you early? We're not yet done." she grumbled.I couldn't help but chuckle at her behavior. I gripped on her waist and let her down on the ground, caressing her hair from the top to the sides of her head while she still covered her face. "That's okay." I said and took her hands, kissing her forehead while she stared at me. "I love it."
She pouted, keeping her eyes on me. "Happy Birthday." she whispered in a disheartened tone.
I smiled at her and hugged her. "Thank you."
"Group hug!" Sana shouted and soon everyone had their arms around us, engulfing the reserved place in their birthday chant that I bounced along to.
---
I grabbed another slice of pizza when I felt Sejeong hold my arm, taking something out of her bag. "Come here." she said and positioned a Polaroid camera in front of us.
She clicked the capture button and soon after, the photograph came out. I took a bite from the pizza while we waited for it to dry. The picture gradually developed which made Sejeong lean on me.
"It's pretty." she said.
Sejeong was wearing heart shaped glasses with one of her hands making a rock and roll sign while I made a peace sign. Her hair was slightly out of place but nevertheless, she still looked beautiful. "It is." I murmured.
"Hey, hey, hey! Attention, everyone. For the highlight of the day..." Baekhyun shouted as he stood up, holding a flash drive in his hand.
He went to the projector that the staff prepared beforehand which made it start to make sense now. He plugged it in the laptop and opened a video file. "To the trio's maknae, Chanyeol and I made this for you. Though we had a little help." he said.
The video started to play and the first clip to show was Chanyeol filming my first birthday celebration inside our house four years ago. The audio was loud enough for everyone to hear.
"Guess who's angry after we did not greet him for eleven minutes?" Chanyeol said, grabbing a piece of cake.
He snuck up behind me and put it in my mouth, the icing staining my cheeks and nose while Baekhyun just laughed in the corner.
The video soon got cut and transitioned to different ones, my graduation video, dinner parties, places we went to on a whim, drunk nights together and the Christmas we spent together last year.
The video ended and everyone had their eyes on me. I stood up and looked around, putting my hands on my waist. "So how am I supposed to react?" I rhetorically asked.
Baekhyun and Chanyeol went to me, playful looks on their faces. "You don't have to, you heartless baby." Chanyeol said and hugged me. For the second time this day, I had all their arms around me.
And I'm not complaining.---
"So was that the gift that you picked out for me?" I asked Sejeong while unlocking the door, pulling her arm to guide her inside the house.
She ducked out her lips and pretended to think. "Maybe or maybe not." she said.
"What? Are you serious right now?" I asked, placing Vivi down the couch.
Sejeong held out the photograph that we took earlier and then grasped my hand. "Last one." she whispered and then pulled me up the stairs.
She opened the door to my room and opened the lights. To my surprise, the surrounding was colored a dim orange and I saw the circular fluorescent lamp covered in transparent plastic foil.
She walked to one side of the bed and hung the photograph somewhere on the wall with other things that I haven't seen before.
"One second." Sejeong ran to me and covered my eyes from behind, telling me where to step. "Don't peek."
I felt Sejeong stop and wrap her arms around me to give me a back hug. "Okay, open."
I followed her instruction and opened my eyes, seeing dozens of photographs connected by strings that looked good under the light.
Sejeong tiptoed to kiss my shoulder and I felt myself go breathless.
Most of it was so random, minutes when I was not even aware that she was holding her phone to take a picture. How many times did you click on the shutter, Sejeong-ah? I'm totally in love with you.
But there's always space for some jokes, right?"Omo, who uses auto-focus these days? Tsk tsk." I complained as I held one of the pictures, shifting my eyes to Sejeong as I turned my head.
She pouted and let go of my waist, her eyebrows met together as if she was ready to punch my head in. But as strangely cliche as we both had been, it made my heart flutter for countless, unidentifiable reasons.
"What's with all these effects? Look at this one, even my face got blurred." I told her as I pointed to a picture.
"Wha- really?" she asked, holding the picture in one hand while she tucked her hair behind her ear. "Oh no. It is blurry, isn't it?" she said.
Sejeong sulked as she tried to hide the picture from me. Maybe my antics are already getting overboard.
I held Sejeong's waist to turn her around, pulled her close and grinned at her. "I was just joking. It's not even blurred."
Sejeong punched my shoulder, almost making me let go of her. "Ouch, that's powerful." I laughed out as I tightened my grip on her again. "But that's not enough." I mocked.
"Yah! You should be careful with what you say. I worked hard for this." she confessed, turning her head away.
I chuckled at her actions and brought a hand to her cheek to make her look at me. "I know. It shows and thank you." I told her.
"For being here with me and letting yourself be one of the most important people in my life." I said.
"But what should I do now? My heart's trying to get out of my chest. You have to help me." I told her and brought her hand to my chest. "You feel that? That hurts." I said.
Sejeong smiled at me shyly and faced my chest. "Right here?" she asked, patting the spot where my heart was supposed to be.
I hummed in agreement, and pouted at her, nodding my head while my eyes were closed.
"Aw, really. That's so bad. Let me help you." she said and kissed my chest. She did it once, twice and a few more times before trailing butterfly kisses up my neck that tickled my senses.
She pulled me down to kiss every spot of my face, biting my nose and then planting a last kiss on my lips. "Is that better? Has your heart calmed down?" she asked playfully.
I glared at her and she laughed at me while turning around, her body still within my arms. "Do you like it?" she asked, tracing the pictures with her index finger.
I kissed her temple and rested my chin on her shoulder, inhaling her scent as I looked at the photographs again. "I do." I answered and took her hand as I embraced her fully.
It's beautiful. More than the words that I could ever tell you.
"I love you."
"I love you too."Sejeong-ah, I love how every single picture had captured me through the lens...But I love the way you captured me more.
