Chapter 8
05:46, 17 January 2021Hey guys my last chapter was pretty flawed, but here is what I was trying to get at Kito+Nishi= Mutual love :) but Kito = bad boy :( Nishi does not like bad boys, but they overcome their differences with the power of love and friendship! And the last thing I wanna ask about is do you guys want me to work Sakayanagi into the Island Exam or no? I plan on putting the loli on the cruise ship, but I don’t know if I should change the island exam that much. Sayonara for now and cya later alligators!
Kiyoko POV
I woke up and sighed, today is going to be a stressful day. After school, we have a meeting with the student council regarding Sudo-kun’s incident. The trip to school was normal and the lessons were pretty boring as usual. When I was about to get ready for the hearing I was called into the staff room by Chabashira-sensei.
When I got to the room I was brought into the kitchen area and she shut the door behind us. There was a table in the corner of the room where I sat down and drank tea that she offered to me. As she was about to talk I reached into my pocket and clicked my pen I bought yesterday.
“I’ll get straight to the point, are you working towards the position of class leader”
“Who knows,” I replied, trying to imply this conversation disinterested me
“Well, I don’t care what you’re doing at the moment it is the future that concerns me,”
“And what is this future you speak of?” I asked
“One where Class D rises and becomes Class A”
“Then you can be certain that I am working towards your desirable future”
“I’m glad, then know you can rely on me whenever you need to, that’s it. Lets go to the conference room”
While we were walking off I pondered the meaning of that conversation, it seems that Chabashira-sensei is not the mean teacher that she makes herself out to be, but rather an earnestly supportive teacher who will work as hard as required to reach Class A.
As Chabashira-sensei and I left the staff room I ran into Horikita who was waiting for me, she immediately told us to hurry up and we went to the conference room on the second floor. In there awaited the Student Council President, Secretary Tachibana, the three victims, and their teacher.
“I will now summerize what information has been gathered by the student council” said Tachibana-san “Komita-kun and two other members of the basketball club went to the special building after Sudo-kun called them there. There, they claim to have been beaten up in a one-sided brawl. Is this true?”
“What those guys said was a lie. I was the one that got called over to the special building,” Sudo-kun replied. “That day, after practice, Komiya and Kondou asked me to go to the special building. Honestly, I thought it was kind of annoying, but I also thought it might’ve been because they were always so hostile towards me. So I went to meet them.”
Sudo-kun was not one to mince words. Normally, Horikita-san sould have been disgusted by his casual way of speaking, but right now she was trembling. Horikita-san was not focused on the case in front of her, but rather her brother at the head of the table.
As Horikita-san was dozing out the discussion went no where, each side claimed the other as the responsible party, shouting broke out and Horikita-san did nothing.
“If Class D can provide no further proof then we shall proceed” stated Tachibana
If the student council and teachers continued to sit in silence then the punishment would certainly be merciless, we needed Horikita-san to take action.
“It would seem there’s no objection, given the arguments we heard thus far” The student council president spoke for the first time during this hearing, it seems that Horikita-san’s older brother wanted to draw a conclusion as soon as possible. “Regardless of which party called the other over, the fact remains that it was a one-sided fight between Sudo and the other students. We can clearly see that from the injuries they sustained. We have no choice but to come up with a conclusion based on the.”
Sudo-kun after hearing this desperately tried to defend himself, “W-wait! I can’t accept that! It’s just because those guys were a bunch of wimps!”
“Can it really be considered self-defence if they fought with such unequal strength?” asked Sakagami-sensei
“B-but, hey. I was fighting against three people! Three people!”
“But only Class C students were hurt”
At this rate we were going to lose horribly, I needed to bring Horikita-san back to reality. I stood up, walked behind her, reached around her and began to tickle her. No matter how out of it one may be, a strong stimulus will bring one back to reality. She became really flustered and let out an unusually girlish noise.
After thoroughly bringing her back into reality she stared at me with both a piercing gaze and eyes that looked like they could cry from embarrassment, haha I'm in danger. Oh well, I guess I’ll focuse on the moment instead of my inevitable doom.
“Horikita-san, if you don't fight back we will lose”
After easing her glare she directed her gaze to the Student Council President and asked“Excuse me, may I ask a question?”
“I will allow it however, please answer more quickly next time” he responded
Horikita fought back hard, however in the end there was zero evidence, the Student Council President gave us two days to come up with evidence or else expulsion would be on the table for both sides.
Horikita-san and I walked out of the building and sat on a bench, he had just barely managed to avoid the expulsion of our classmate, yet she managed to stay calm.
“Kiyoko-san, I have a plan on how to avoid Sudo-kun’s expulsion, but before that I have a question”
“What is it?” I asked
“Would you like to regret your decision while desperate or while suffering, your choice”
“Ummmm, neither?”
That seems to have been the wrong awnser, as she responded to it by putting a compass needle in my arm. The pain hurts, which makes sense. I’m starting to think just letting Sudo-kun get expelled might have been the right choice.
Next Day
After getting some sleep I went to school again, on the way I saw Kiyo-nii walking with Arisu-chan, our fake childhood friend. As with every time I saw them together they seemed very close... it made my blood boil.
I walked up to the two of them and greeted them like the ideal sister, I walked in between them and greeted Kiyo-nii while ignoring the homewrecking bitch.
“Good morning Kiyo-nii!”
“Good morning Kiyoko, what is it you need?”
“I need to borrow some points, is it alright?” I bowed
“How much do you need?” he replied
“30,000”
“I’ll transfer it to you”
He was as cold as ever, yet reliable. I had already used 50,000 point on my shopping trips with Haruka-san, I can’t spare to use that much for the sake of Horikita-san’s plan.
During my shopping trip with Sotomura-kun I learned that this was how much the brand of security camera’s the school used costed.
After graciously bowing and thanking Kiyo-nii the two of them returned to their own conversations as if I was not here.
“Ki-yo-ta-ka... Would you like to come over to my room tonight? I have some nice candles and plenty of ingredients, we could have a nice dinner”
“Thank you very much, I will take you up on that offer” he replied
I couldn’t handle to listen to any more of this conversation and left them as I went to school. My mind raced as thoughts of losing Kiyo-nii to her flooded my head. Soon enough I arrived at school and sat down.
Haruka-san seemingly sensed my distress and asked me what was wrong.
“Just boy problems, thanks for asking though, Haruka-san”
“You can always rely on me, Yoko-chan!” she said with a warm smile
After a long day at school Horikita-san, Sotomura-kun, and I went to the electronics store and bought the security cameras, he did some fancy talk with the owner of the store who he befriended somehow and we left.
After parting ways with our tech assistant Horikita-san and I went to the special building, set up the trap, and had Kikyo-san send the three “victims” to us.
“What are you two doing here!?” asked Ishizaki-kun
“We are here to warn you to withdrawal your complaint” Horikita-san said
“Don’t be ridiculous, let’s go guys”
“Before you do that, I’ll let you know about what you overlooked” this piqued their interests“What are you talking about?” Ishizaki asked
“The security cameras” Horikita pointed at the top of the stairwell
“What? Those weren’t there before!”
“Yes they were, you just didn’t see them. If there truly was no evidence and the beating was just one-sided do you really think this school would be as lenient as to give us a 2 day extension to ‘obtain evidence’?”
“Well, if they really had that evidence then why would they not use it for the verdict and what do you mean about the 2 day extension being fishy?” they seemed to be lost
“They are testing us to see if we can resolve this problem ourselves… now, what do you think would happen if we went to the Student Council demanding they used the security camera footage to make their verdict and found out you’re lying, did the Student Council President not state that expulsion was on the table?”
“... no way… why are you telling us this? Would’nt it be better to just expel us?”
“Maybe, but Sudo-kun’s basketball tournoment is coming up within a week, if he doesn’t make it to that then his chances of becoming a full time starter plummet, you guys should understand suspension isn’t completely off the table for Sudo-kun. Timing is in your favor, consider yourselves lucky”
“What are you talking about, you’re acting like there is a way out of this?”
“There is, all you have to do is withdrawal your complaint”
“I… can’t do that…” Ishizaki-kun replied, though there was no way Horikita-san would back down at this point
“Then consider yourselves expelled” Horikita-san began to walk away
“Wait!” “Please Ishizaki” the other two Class C members pleaded with him
“Let me make a call first” said Ishizaki
“By the time you finish that call I will have finished mine with Secretary Tachibana” Horikita said “its now or never”
“Fine! I’ll go to withdrawl our complaint right away” Ishizaki said as he called someone on his phone, likely someone from the student council or his homeroom teacher. As we heard him state his desire to withdrawal the complaint then hang up after listening a bit we walked away.
Horikita-san and I walked together back to the dorms but halfway they she stopped me.“You manipulated me, didn’t you?” she said
“What are you talking about?” I played dumb
“You focused really hard on the lack of security camera’s, leading me to forge evidence” she said
“You’re overthinking it” I replied and began to walk away
“Wait” she said and grabbed my arm “who are you?”
It seems like she can’t accept the fact that someone managed to manipulate her. I decided to take this opportunity to make her know her place.
“Someone who intends to reach Class A. That should be enough for you right? Follow my lead and I can bring us to Class A and make your brother acknowledge you, that’s what you want right?” I asked rhetorically
“I guess you’re right” she looked down, not able to make eye contact with me anymore.
The rest of our walk was in silence, though it was not awkward. We were just two little girls fighting for the acknowledgement of our older brothers. Mutual desires is what fuels our relationship, but I can slowly feel a friendship forming between us.
Her resolve was strong, even if it ment sacrificing her freedom, and becoming my tool. She was willing to do anything in order to reach Class A, as I was willing to do anything in order defeat Kiyo-nii, we were the same.
I layed my head down and slept, though this was not a dream of a chess battle that already took place, it was one of the battles to come in the future. Kiyo-nii sat on the other side of the chess board, but this time Arisu-chan accompanied him. Horikita-san sat beside me aswell.
In this battle Horikita-san and I were competing against two giants, even though we were mere ants. After getting checkmated in only 28 moves the two giants got up and walked away together. While Horikita-san and I were left in a pool filled with tears, drowning in our sorrow.
Our goals crushed, the pain of loss hurt her as she understood the crushing defeat meant she would never have her brothers acknowledgment. The loss however didn’t affect me, what made me feel despair was having to watch as Arisu-chan stand by his side as he walked away, instead of that being me.
Kiyotaka POV
After that whole situation with Kito and his now girlfriend we went to school like normal. Class was as usual, and lunchtime was per normal except today I got an after school invitation to the library from Sakayanagi, which I accepted
Once school ended I went to Sakayanagi’s seat and escorted her out. We were being watched by the entire class as we left, but that didn’t really matter.
The walk there consisted of mainly small talk, such as what we have been doing for the past while, how our grades are, and friends we made. It turns out that the purple haired beauty next to me has been converted into Sakayanagi’s pawn.
When we arrived at the library it was peaceful as always. A couple things that immediately caught my attention were a blue haired girl that was reading one of my favorite novels in the corner. And the Student Council President who was sitting with his Secretary in the corner while watching us.
Sakayanagi noticed the existence of the Student Council President, however she chose to ignore this and brought us to a separate room. In there was a chess board with the pieces already set up.
She sat on the black side and I was on the white one. “Care for a game?” she asked
“Alright” I responded, as I reached for a pawn she said something before I took grip of it.
“By the way, Kiyo-kun... Don’t you dare hold back”
“What would you do if I did?” I asked
“Obtain 20 million points, then I would move to Class B”
“You would do so much just for a competition with me?” I asked
“For you, without hesitation, now go ahead. We will play best of three”
As I reached for the E2 pawn I was interrupted again. The Student Council president walked into the room and sat observing the board.
“Um, President, isn’t interrupting like this rude”
“I’m just here to spectate,”
“But…”
“If you don’t like it then you can leave”
Though reluctant at first, I played with all that I had. We played a three knights game it took 40 minutes, our focus never faltered for even a second. The atmosphere was heavy, almost crushing.
The Student Council President never once was fazed by this atmosphere, neither was Sakayanagi or I. The Student Council President also was just as focused as we were, he wasn’t spectating, he was playing against us in his mind, wondering if he would make the same moves as we would.
I obtained the first victory, it was a close game, but I managed to obtain a slightly better position in the endgame and that was enough. After I promoted my B file pawn into a queen I cornered her, put her in check with my knight, and delivered checkmate.
The Student Council President, was impressed with our play. After getting a relief from the tense atmosphere that enveloped her Tachibana-senpai breathed a sigh of relief. Only to get ordered by The Student Council President to get us tea.
She protested at first due to the rule that no food or drink is allowed in the library, but he persisted and she left with a pouty face.
“That was a nice game, Kiyo-kun. Can you win the next one?” she asked unfazed by the loss and brimming with confidence. She earned the ability to be this confident, after all her game was very close to flawless. There is noone in this world who can play a perfect game of chess. Our play definitly surpassed the level of an International Masters game, this was an achievement she can boast all that she want’s without being arrogance.
“Only time will tell, however, I have no intention of losing”
“Neither do I”
“Then beat me”
The Student Council President seemed to have enjoyed this banter as he chuckled while reanlyzing the game using a chess board on his phone, he had Tachibana-senpai write down all the moves that happened.
“This move,” he said as he showed his phone to Sakayanagi “Bishop d6 to b4, you lost after this move, it was wise to attack the knight in this position, however you traded defence on your e5 pawn for that offensive firepower.”
She nodded after hearing this, she agreed with The Student Council President and accepted her mistake. It was a lack of defense on her e5 pawn that allowed me to get aggresive and obtain control on the center of the board.
After taking an illlegal tea break in the library we resumed play, this must be one of the luxuries of the Student Council, not everyone gets to drink tea in the library.
Sakayanagi played as white this game and opened up with e4, I responded with c5 playing the Sicilian defence. She played d4 which caught me off guard for a second as she was offering up a center pawn for an outside pawn.
I knew there would be a catch in taking it, but I did anyways. Sometimes the predictable move is the best one. She then played pawn to c3, she offered me even more material. I took it again and she replied by taking with her knight. I recognized this opening from one of the books I read, it is called the Smith Morra Gambit.
I’ve seen this in a couple of games so I know the best moves to make, I played the best and most common moves developing my pieces and trying my best to see through and defend against the pure attacking power that comes from this opening.
After a heated 50 minute battle it ended in a… stalemate. Tachibana ran to get some more tea, The Student Council President analyzed our game some more and pointed out our mistakes.
Defeating me was no longer an option for Sakayanagi, but she still remained unfazed. Instead of feeling sorrow for the fact she can’t give me the crushing defeat she spoke of, she just prepared for the next game.
She wanted to defeat me even in only one game, I played as white this game, we played a classical center game. After 48 moves, I said those words.
“That was a nice game. Sakayanagi. I resign”
She outplayed me, her advances were aggressive, yet not reckless. It is very impressive that she could play in such a manner, yet not get ahead of herself. The final two moves the played were both sacrifices of her rook’s. I was cornered with no way out, prolonging the game would have been pointless.
I had played many people before, the only games I had lost before leaving The White Room were against a computer. That place made me and many other people geniuses, however Sakayanagi stood against me without that intensive training. She is a natural born genius and could stand against anyone in The White Room.
The Student Council President was extremely impressed with both of our play. I could tell from the look on his face that he was thinking exactly what I was. If we played 100 games against each other, we each would win 50. In the game of chess, and outside of it, we are equals.
“I have seen what I have come to see” said The Student Council President “Ayanokoji, I have come here to extend to you an invitation, become a secretary on The Student Council”
These words disgusted Sakayanagi who replied to this invitation for me.“Isn’t offering a position as secretary quite rude” she looked at him with anger “I will not allow you to make such offers to him, maybe if you offered him a position such as that of Vice President, I then could consider having him accept your offer”
Sakayanagi smirked as she said those words, and The Student Council President nodded in agreement.
“Umm, I never agreed to any of this.” I said, but those words were in vain. Apparently I don’t have an option, both Sakayanagi Arisu and Horikita Manabu want me to be the vice president on the student council, and it doesn’t look like I can object. Though I wouldn’t do that anyways.
After this Sakayanagi invited me to the place called nourriture (a restaurant). It was the same place we went to eat before and it had really good french food. After arriving we were brought to our seats by the waiter. There were a few other Class A students in there including Katsuragi, but upon his warnings we were left alone.
No one was close enough to hear us, so we spoke without reserve. Once our food arrived the casual small talk turned serious, the atmosphere changed from relaxing to tense.
“You know, there are still many things The White Room could not teach you, I acknowledge you as a genius, however there are many things you do not yet know of”
“I understand this, though I don’t understand why you brought it up”
“Because there is one important thing you need to learn of. That is human warmth. I would like to teach this to you, Kiyo-kun”
“And what are the prerequisites to learning this, Sakayanagi-sensei?”
“You call me Arisu, and you become my lover, not my partner in leading this class”
“First you decide on making me the vice president of the student council, now you decide to make me your lover. Do I have no freedom?”
“You will have plenty of freedom, however that freedom you have will be shared with me. Your first lesson on the warmth of love is this. Love goes both ways, the body of your partner becomes your’s and your body become the possesion of your partner.”
“Then will you accept my eyes as one of your possessions?”
“Glady”
Neither of us ate or drank for a solid five minutes. I just stared into her eyes with those horrible ugly eyes given to me by my father while wearing an apathetic expression. She stared back into mine with those beautiful blue eyes, her expression was smug yet kind. I was staring into her soul, and she was inviting me in.
After that exchange we finished eating our expensive meal, I walked her to her dorm room, though instead of departing there, she invited me in. I accepted her offer and walked in. It was very cozy with a fur rug in the middle, plenty of cooking utensils, A computer in the corner, many chess books and study materials.
I sat on her bed next to her with the TV infront of us. We turned on a western drama and sat with our backs leaning against the wall. A couple of movies later it turned to 11 o’clock, past the curfew and at a time where we could get in trouble for being in the same room together.
Arisu fell asleep on my shoulder, her smug expression faded and she looked really cute and fragile. I laid her down and put the covers over her. I then left the room and thankfully there was no one outside who could spot me, aside from…
“K-K-K-Kiyotaka-kun, w-w-what are you doing in a girls room at this time” Ichinose asked
“You’re misunderstanding this” as I was saying this she apologized and ran off.
It looks like that is going to be a problem, oh well there is nothing I can do about it now. Her footsteps probably caused a bit of a comotion, I should leave now before anyone comes up the stairs to check it out.
I managed to make it to my room before there were any more problems, I was able to sleep semi-peacfully. Thuogh I have a problem causing girlfriend, and yandere bro-con twin sister, popular girl who misunderstood a very suspicous situation, and an important seat on the student council. I take back what I said about sleeping semi-peacfully, I didn’t sleep at all that night.
