Chapter 8: Remus

19:21, 27 March 2025

Narcissa wasn't going to school anymore. I joined her at Andromeda's house every evening and stayed there during the weekends. Andromeda had given birth to a little girl, Nymphadora Tonks. She was really cute.

The school year had come to an end. I had received a letter from Andromeda saying that Narcissa would be giving birth soon.

On July the 1st 1997, at 11:50 p.m., she gave birth to the youngest — and oldest — of both kids, Eryndor Aiden Lupin.

On July the 2nd 1997, at 12:03 a.m., she gave birth to the oldest —and youngest— of the kids, Draco Axiom Lupin.

They didn't look alike at all. One had a pale skin tone and white-blonde hair while the other had a more "normal" skin tone and black hair. The only thing they had in common were their icy-blue eyes, which were the exact same as Narcissa's.

We knew it wouldn't be hard to tell the difference between our two sons, but the difficult thing was to decide who was older than who: Draco was technically a week older than Elyzeus, but Elyzeus was born before Draco.

We agreed on treating our kids the same way, without favoritism. That way, they would be in the same years at Hogwarts, the only thing able to ever separate them being the Houses. They would both go to a Muggle school first because that was what I had done before I was bitten and knew that it was a good way of teaching our kids things that we couldn't teach them ourselves.

During the following year, Eryndor and Draco stayed at my father's. Fortunately, we came back in time during the Easter holidays to see Eryndor's first steps. Draco was trying to imitate him, but was failing because he wasn't as strong in the legs as Eryndor was. Was it possible for babies to strengthen their legs? No idea, but little Eryndor could stand, walk and run at only 9 months old. Nymphadora, being a Metamorphmagus, spent more time changing her physical appearance than trying to walk. That way, my son was the first of the Lupin-Black-Tonks family to walk.

I graduated with Narcissa. She got a job at Gringotts, with her sister, and I started an apprenticeship with a former-Auror who knew about my condition and didn't mind.

In the evening, we would reunite with the kids at my father's house.

I was thinking about proposing to Narcissa and then buy a house in which we would live together with the kids.

During the following year, I kept thinking about a perfect place to propose.

One evening, I was playing with Eryndor. Without even knowing why I did it, I told him that I wanted to ask his mommy to marry me. I expected him to not care or understand and keep playing, but instead, he looked up at me, smiling.

"Under the moon, daddy! Mommy loves the moon! Ask her to marry you under the moon!" Is all he said before going back to his game. He was just a year old. How could he know what his mother liked? But I knew he was right. Narcissa loved the moon. Plus, it would mean something if I were to propose the night before the full moon.

So I kissed Eryndor on the head, thanking him, and continued to play with him.

That weekend, I went to Diagon Alley with Draco to pick a ring for his mother. He chose one and I agreed with him that it would suit his mother. I paid it with all the money I had kept aside for it and went back home, excited to see my girlfriend, father and son.

Once at my father's, we ate dinner together, as a family. I knew Narcissa and I both loved these moments.

On July 31st 1998, I took Narcissa to the beach, one evening, and, under the Moon's First Quarter, I went on one knee and opened the box containing the ring I had bought with Draco.

"Narcissa Black, I love you with all my heart and I'll never be thankful enough for meeting you and having kids with you. If that's fine with you, I'd like us to spend the rest of our life together. Yes, 'life', because together, we make one. So, Narcissa Black, will you marry me?"

She was crying. I didn't know if it was from joy or sadness, but then she hugged me and whispered "Yes" in my ear. I placed the ring around her ring finger and she kissed me under the moonlight.
