Background Info / QnA
07:46, 8 June 2021Hi, let's just dive into this shall we? We'll start with the list of supernatural creatures and their features! (side note, my idea of these supernatural creatures are twisted to how I like them, they are not the same compared to other thoughts and internet definitions!)
SUPERNATURAL CREATURES:
Faeries: Faeries are charming, beautiful and exotic creatures. Often with bright personalities and cheery positive attitudes, it's really a given that they radiate warmth and comfort. Pure-blood faeries (meaning their parents are both fae) cannot tell lies, along with the inability to touch iron. They also have translucent wings (which can be folded away or hidden) and can glow (brightly) in the dark.
How have these faeries not been caught? Well, just because faeries can't lie doesn't mean they can't deceive. Faeries are good with words, able to string them together so well that it may be even better than lies. Also, they have the skill of charm-speak- the ability to allow them to literally make others follow their orders, without them even realizing. Most effects are temporary, but if faeries tried, they could make it permanent.
Jin and Hoseok: These two are both half-faerie (meaning one parent is human while the other is fae). They do not have wings. They can tell lies and touch iron- unlike purebloods. Like pureblood faeries, however, they have dashing good looks, can glow in the dark (just not as much), and charm-speak (except that it isn't as powerful or strong). Out of the other supernatural creatures, Jin and Hoseok are second closest to a human- falling behind warlocks.
Warlocks: These creatures have many names: warlock, witch, wizard, summoner of the magic- they're pretty much the same. These creatures look just like a regular person/human, so it's often hard to pick one out of a crowd. Pureblood warlocks and half-blood warlocks have no differences- well except for two. Pureblood warlocks are more powerful than half-bloods. Pureblood warlocks also have a higher chance of gaining a special ability (like Namjoon's mindreading powers)- though the possibility of a half-blood warlock obtaining one is possible. Warlocks have slowly dwindled in numbers, simply due to the fact that warlock blood is thinning (with warlocks mingling with humans more and more- thinning out the bloodline). In fact, many warlocks don't even realize that they're warlocks, since they have no powers or their parents (who are probably warlocks) don't even know what they are themselves.
So...what are the powers of warlocks? Well, warlocks were superior and powerful beings if we go back a few centuries. However, many have abandoned their practice or went into hiding- fearing witch trials or being burned at the stake. Though they may have supernatural abilities, humans still outnumber them- the chance of warlocks being wiped out is possible. Many spell-books and potion-books- along with magical enchanted items (brooms, portals- etc) have been stowed away or lost. Yes, warlocks can use 'magic'. However, the only power not lost with time is the special abilities (mind-reading, etc) a warlock could have- though the decision of whether or not they use it or not is up to them.
Namjoon; Namjoon is a pure-blood warlock, along with the possession of a special skill- the ability to mind-read. This is one of the rarer abilities. (And don't worry- Namjoon isn't constantly hearing voices in his head. He can choose if he wants to read a mind or not. He is able to turn his skill back on or off). The most common ability is transformation (the ability to turn into your spirit animal- literally. Though the downside is that 1) you cannot choose your animal and 2) you can only turn into one animal) and elemental control (the ability to control one element. Sounds cooler than it is.) However, powerful warlocks can make these two common abilities stretch to its full potential (aka turning into multiple animals or making a simple rain turn into a hurricane)- or they can possess many abilities!
Werewolves: These beasts are often called children of the moon- though most despise a full moon (I'm sure you can figure out why.) These werewolves also have super strength and better senses- especially smell and hearing. The pure-blood category can be split with a side category called 'full-blood' (just like vampires). Pure-blood and full-blood werewolves are practically the same, but only pure-blood werewolves can turn humans into werewolves by biting them (full-bloods cannot). Pure-blood and full-blood werewolves are the most human during the new moon, and the most wolfish (turning into a wolf) during the new moon. More wolfish traits appear when the full moon is approaching, and these traits slowly dissolve as the full moon is over. There are only two differences between a pure-blood werewolf and a half-blood is that half-bloods do not transform- though they get really wolfish (sharper canines and growling and sharp eyes) during the full moon. Pure-blood werewolves can transform humans into full-blood werewolves while half-bloods cannot. These three types experience a heat once every three full moons- meaning they get quite frisky and horny. They're just looking for some company... Werewolves naturally have a nice body- very nice (just look at Jungkook and Jimin! yEs).
Do these beasts have weaknesses? Yes, they do- well only pure-bloods. Pure-bloods cannot touch silver- similar to how a pure-blood faerie cannot touch iron. Full-bloods are fine with it, though they might end up having a metal allergy to silver. Half-bloods are completely fine. Werewolves are very outgoing, but they also have great hiding skills. So if someone is always gone during the full moon yet you can't find or pinpoint them- you now know.
Jimin and Jungkook: These two lean more on the side of a puppy rather than a wolf- unless you see them onstage. Damn the duality of these two is insane. Anyways, these two experience a heat- which can be repressed by taking suppressants (which Jimin is a good boy and keeps track while Jungkook pounced on Y/N one time- yeah, you know which chapter). Besides their good physics, both are quite playful- like wolves (or doggos). Jungkook's wolfish trait shows more than Jimin's, as Jungkook likes to sniff and nip other people. Also like wolves, Jungkook and Jimin are pack orientated- always valuing family and listening to their leader, Namjoon (most of the time).
Vampires: Vampires, creatures of darkness- seductive and bloodthirsty (for food, not killing. They need blood to live). All vampires are made to be irresistible with the ability to erase their prey's memory, making them really hard to catch. Combined with the ability to shadow-travel, super strength, speed, and senses- it's almost like they're on steroids. Like werewolves, the vampire category can be divided into three groups- pure-blood, full-blood, and half-blood. To make things easier, let's just dive right into the characters- as we have each of the three types available- starting from the top. (Btw, all vampires can eat human/regular food- though they need to have blood first. They can't digest the human/regular food if they are on an empty-blood thirsty stomach). Vampires usually don't have any weaknesses- hardly anyone messes with them. Don't try to kill them with mirrors, crosses, sunlight, etc- and no, they don't sleep in coffins.
Mingi: Pure-blood: Pure-bloods are immortals- they can't die of old age. Most usually stop aging around 20-ish, leaving them forever youthful- (they can die though- by intentionally killing themselves or someone purposely kills them). They also have superb regen abilities, able to heal themselves. Pure-blood are quite rare, they only exist if their parents (both) are pure-bloods as well. Thus, with a decreasing number of pure-bloods, pure-blood vampires are dwindling. However, being a pure-blood does have it's benefits. One, they have super power, extremely powered up, strength, senses, and abilities (compared to just regular super strength of the other two categories). Two, pure-bloods also have an increased range of shadow-travel- able to jump across continents. Some have been known to even control shadows- melting into them or physically use shadows as weapons. Thirdly, pure-bloods can keep track of where others are by sensing their presence- as long as the person is within their shadow-travel range. And fourthly, pure-blood vampires can drink any type of blood- human or animal. Though this seems somewhat meh or useless, it is actually the opposite. Being able to drink any type of blood makes it easier for the vampire to find food. These days you can actually pick up animal blood at any (usually Asian) supermarket. Not needing to hunt for food (aka humans), decreases the chances of them being caught. However, most vampires prefer fresh human blood.
Pure-blood: Blood-pacts: Blood pacts, as mentioned throughout the story is like a messed of marriage proposal. However, blood-pacts work differently for the three types of vampires. For pure-bloods however, a blood-pact can be made easily- just needing to bite the other party's neck. A pure-blood can also hold several blood-pacts at once. Also, pure-bloods are the only type able to break the blood-pacts they form (they can literally cut off all ties- only for themselves though). When a pure-blood makes a blood-pact, the recipient turns into a full-blood, which then leads us to the next category. (Also, no matter what blood-pact a pure-blood makes, they cannot create a pure-blood...even when the other party is a full-blood. No point in a pure-blood making a blood-pact with another pure-blood- since they're both pure-bloods, unless they love each other so much).
Suga and HongJoong: Full-bloods: Full-bloods can from three types of relationships- 1) a pure-blood making a blood pact with a human (they're turning the human into a full-blood vampire), 2) both parents are full-bloods, and 3) one parent is a pure-blood and the other is a human (the human stays human, he/she is not turned). Full-blood vampires are less powerful than pure-bloods but stronger than half-bloods. Full- bloods can shadow-travel (across several countries, though the farther they travel, the more energy they drain) and can sense presences of others (as long as they are within the shadow-travel range). Full-blood vampires can also drink any type of blood (animal or human- like pure-bloods). They also are immortal with good regen skills (just not as good as pure-bloods). (Also note, I know Jin said that Suga and Namjoon were the only pure-blood supernatural beings- and it's technically true. Full-blood and Pure-blood vampires are often grouped together- since there aren't that many differences between the two).
Full-bloods: Blood-pacts: A blood-pact between a full-blood and a half-blood, the half-blood turns into a full-blood. When a full-blood forms a blood-pact with another full-blood, both still remain full-bloods. But when a blood-pact is made with a human, the human is turned into a half-blood. (The full-blood still stays a full-blood if they make a blood-pact with a pure-blood). Full-bloods cannot break blood-pacts they make, once you've made the decision you must go through with it. A blood-pact made with a full-blood requires them you bite you and take your blood (just once). Full-bloods can only have one blood-pact.
Taehyung: Half-blood: Half-blood vampires are just super-boosted humans with shadow-travel abilities- with the occassional need to refuel on fresh human blood (no animal blood for half-bloods). Half-bloods come in three ways- 1) full-blood blood-pact with a human (turning the human into a half-blood), 2) two half-blood parents, or 3) one parent being full-blood and the other human (the human remains human, he/she is not turned). Half-bloods cannot sense presences, though they can shadow-travel (usually the range is several close cities but Taehyung is special- he can travel pretty much all across the size of South Korea- though the farther they travel, the more energy they drain and the sooner they need to feed). Half-bloods have decent regen skills- they heal much faster than normal people, but they are mortal, meaning they live an average human life and can die of age.
Half-blood: Blood-pacts: Half-blood blood-pacts work a little differently. Instead of biting the other party, they have to drink their blood three times (that's why most half-bloods don't feed on the same person more than once). When a blood-pact is formed, the half-blood ties their life to the recipient- meaning they will die at the same time, and if one gets like murdered suddenly, the other will also die.
Blood-pacts and Fated Pairs: In General: First with blood-pacts. A blood-pact requires the two (or more if you're a pure-blood) parties involved to drink only from each other's blood (unless you're a half-blood and your partner is human, then only the half-blood drinks blood). It binds the recipients together, usually with a mark. These markings relate to the different ancient clans- the big four and several other branches. But in modern times, no one really pays attention to clans or covens (but one a upon a time, being related in a clan allows one to become stronger, able to send signals or borrow another clan-mates abilities- with their permission- for a short time). But now, these markings are a feeding timer- telling when once needs to feed. Lighter the mark, the longer time you have until your next feeding event. The darker the mark, the short your time is until your next feeding session. When the mark is completely black, it will burn- causing pain. So feed on schedule, don't procrastinate!
Now fated pairs. Usually blood-pacts are made intentionally, but if you throw in the factor the parties being fated pairs, the vampire rarely realizes they're making a blood-pact. Fated pairs, usually their blood tastes better and back then (in the once upon a time), fated pairs got special abilities (whether you're human or or not)- such as healing others or shadow-traveling or (somewhat slight) shadow-manipulation. Fated pairs occur once in a blue moon- very rare. If an enemy held your fated pair hostage, they could hurt you- even if you've never met your pair. If your fated pair was killed, a piece of your heart would feel like its been ripped out, always feeling somewhat/slightly empty (again, even if you've never met them). A fated pair can also cause their partner to shadow-travel to them- even if they are outside the shadow-travel range. Fated pairs need to be close together- if they're not, that's when the shadow-travel ability kicks in and eliminated the distance. Taehyung did not know about this part- that's why he didn't teleport to Y/N when she was in America. One can teleport to their fated pair without thinking in their shadow-travel range, but if they are outside of it, one has to intentionally think about shadow-traveling (and since Y/N was outside Taehyung's range and him not knowing this trick- they never met in America).
And I guess this wraps up the supernatural info section (man, vampires are such complicated creatures). I hope this was somewhat informing for you, hopefully this was organized somewhat in order...but moving on!
QnA! (I threw in some questions of my own, even if you didn't ask for them, I though answering them still might help you).
What's up with Jungkook's sudden character change from trying to hit on Y/N to becoming a lil bro?
Well, I mean if there's an attractive girl who is single who wouldn't make a move? (lol) In this story, Jungkook's outer emotions and actions don't line up with what he's really thinking. I mean, suddenly a new person pops into one of the closest brotherly group you're in- finding out all your secrets. As a way to protect himself and the others, if he could lead Y/N away, he would do it. It's all for the greater good- in his mind. However, he learns that Y/N doesn't have bad intentions and starts to see another side- one he is attracted to. The more she's around, the more he observes and comes to like Y/N- just not romantically. He accepts her and especially after that vlive event and such- Jungkook trusts her. He sees Y/N as a big sister who is kind and caring.
Namjoon reading Y/N's mind- from able to read to suddenly not?
Remember in chapter 5 where Namjoon says 'Speak, there's no use hiding it anymore.' and 'Don't make me use my power on you. I can guarantee you it won't be pleasant.' ? Well, in chapter 6 it was revealed that he only said those lines to stall some time for him to scan through Y/N's mind- checking to see if she was a threat or not. Well, technically Namjoon was already using his power but he could definitely sense there was something more about Y/N- something he couldn't exactly pinpoint. That thing he couldn't pin down is actually the fated pair connection between Y/N (along with a blood-pact contract slowly being formed- since Taehyung already took the first step out of three in feeding on Y/N). So, this brings me back to hmmmm, is this another ability Namjoon possesses?
Fast forwarding a bit- when Y/N returns two years later after being shipped away from BigHit. After she leaves the waiting room (retrieving Yeosang's bag in chapter 17), Namjoon says 'I don't know, I couldn't read anything from Y/N. Her mind was like a blank slate, it was empty.'. This statement is true, he couldn't read her mind. So what happened? Well, Taehyung only needed to feed on Y/N one more time before a blood pact is formed- and to prevent another slip up from happening, they separated the two (across the globe). This made the fated connection strained (since they need to be close to each other)- stretching out like a rubber band. When they met (in the waiting room), the connection snapped back- releasing the rubber band tension. Taehyung's natural instinct and ability (of fated pairs) kicked in, shielding her mind from being read. (It's a fated pair thing).
You said you were thinking of introducing a bad character, who and why were they evil? - from MrKimTaehottie (the only question I got lol ;-;)
Ah yes, I did say that in one of my author's notes at the end of a chapter (thank you for reading them XD). Anyways, the main story arc for this fanfic was the ride of Y/N and Taehyung becoming blood-pact pairs. I wanted to do a second arc- with Y/N and Taehyung in a relationship. Except instead of smooth sailing, they would experience another wave of troubles.
Remember this excerpt in chapter 14? (no? well I guess I'll put is here)
'Otherwise in not finding a clock, Y/N's room was relatively plain- in a good way. The walls were bare except for the place in front of her table, a few pictures of Y/N and her friends and family were pinned on the wall. One of the pictures had caught Taehyung's eye- it was Y/N and some guy, Y/N was smiling towards the camera while the guy had his arm looped around her shoulders, not looking at the camera but at Y/N instead. Taehyung felt him mouth tilt downwards in a frown.'
Well this guy in that pic, who is named Finn, would later come to S. Korea, looking for Y/N (since she forgot to contact her mother when the whole blood-pact, passing out, whirl of trouble was happening). He also volunteered for it, personally having a thing for her. Y/N and Finn were childhood besties- and yadah yadah yadah. However, he runs into Jaehwa when trying to figure out the subway system. He recognizes her from a picture Y/N had sent to him (captioned, 'isn't she hot? XD'). He calls to her, going 'hey could you help me out?'. She goes 'yeah, sure' and exchange introductions. Finn then says 'hey! you're best friends with Y/N- Y/LN Y/N?'. Suddenly Jaehwa's expression sours and she walks away- ditching helping him. Finn is confused and is like 'what happened...?' This would later prompt Finn (who eventually finds Y/N) to confront Y/N- sparking drama with Taehyung. Finn has the Sight (which is an ability that all supernatural creatures and some humans have. It allows them to see/sense whether one is human or not). Finn realizes that BTS is not. Coming from an ancient supernatural creature slaying bloodline, Finn sets off a chain of stuff- threatening and the exposure of the true identities of BTS. But everything would be solved (not through memory erasing techniques of vampire. Erasing Finn's memory wouldn't do anything- since they can't erase/remove his Sight). And a happy ending eventually plays out. (plus this route could've probably extended this story to 70-ish plus chapters). Finn isn't necessary an 'evil' guy, he's just very over-protective and territorial (which is how you should not think about a girl) and yeah...
Obviously, it didn't play out that way. The second arc of the fanfic, I decided to go with a more 'less supernatural' more 'practical/realistic/less fantasy' story-line. The troubles that occurred were Y/N's and Taehyung's relationship reveal to the public- and you know how that played out. I think it went pretty well in the end and I hope you enjoyed. (Btw, if I did both story arcs- Finn route then public relationship story- then this fanfic probably could've hit 100 chapter lol).
Why is the story called 'Misconception'?
Misconception: a view or opinion that is incorrect because based on faulty thinking or understanding. (dictionary definition)
To be honest, I have no idea. I thought it was a cool word and you have to give your work a title before you can publish it. I was going to call it ___ ('blank) or 'idk yet'- just to fill the space, but no one would then click on that... Thus Misconception it is.
However, as I continued writing, I felt this name suited the fanfic. The word Misconception came to mean 'everything is not what it seems- whether human or not'- which is relatively close to the definition but not really. With that thinking, I liked the name. Taehyung isn't what you may think he is- being half-vampire and such. And to Taehyung, Y/N turned out to be completely different from who he thought she was. So yay!
Are Y/N's and Taehyung's kids vampires?
No, the vampire blood-line is diluted enough to that the kids are not vampires. They do have vampire-ish traits- exotic/seductive looks and are stronger than the average human. They also have a tendency for animal blood dishes (usually an Asian thing lol).
wrapping it up now....
So what am I going to work on next? (assuming if you like my works and want to read my other works- both current and future ones?)
I'm not too sure. I used to have old ones I started called 25 Cents and Magic Shop but tbh I really can't continue them anymore since I left them untouched for 2 years or smth aha...I'd love to get back into writing again in the future hehe
