63: Poor Taehyung

06:35, 8 August 2017

JAMIE POV

"I still freaking love you." Jimin said. I wiped my tears.

"Jimin--"

"And I know you love me." He continued.

"We can't. We just can't." I said through pain.

"But why!" He asked, getting up.

"Jimin! I'm still treating your wounds!" I said.

"Who cares about the freaking wounds! Look if it's about my mom and other people, who cares? I don't care Jamie please." He said. I couldn't answer. Should I tell him?

"Oh, here you are guys." Jungkook said as he walked in. "Taehyung is out of surgery." He said. With that, I dropped everything, and we all ran to Taehyung's room. When we got there, the doctor was speaking with Jin and Rachel.

"What's going on? How is he?" I asked when we got to them.

"He's stable for now. The surgery went fine. He broke his spine, one of his knees, ribs, a shoulder, and a wrist, but we were able to fix their position. We also closed his cuts and closed some wounds that caused internal bleeding. There was no brain or heart damage, so he should be fine. He will be in a lot of pain, and be in a body cast for a while, but he won't die." The doctor assured. All of our hearts broke but felt relief.

"C-Can we go see him?" Rachel asked.

"He isn't awake, but you can go in. Also, one of you can stay the night with him, but not all of you. Waiting hours are over." The doctor explained. We nodded and thanked him. When he walked off, we all slowly went into Taehyung's room. My eyes widened and it hurt to see Taehyung laying so weak and pale on a bed, covered in a body cast. I am so sorry Taehyung.

Rachel started sobbing again and the boys started crying. Jimin, who was behind me, couldn't enter the room. I went back to him and took his hand.

"Come on, he needs you." I said. Tears left his eyes as he slowly stepped into the room. We all surrounded his bed as repeated sounds came from the machine keeping track of his heartbeat.

"Taehyung-ah? You took a pretty bad hit and fall today." Jin said.

"Dummy... how many times do I have to tell you... don't run in the streets when cars are around." Suga said.

"Please wake up soon. We want you to be okay. Please be okay." Rap Monster said.

"You have a long road of recovery ahead of you... but we will all be here for you every step of the way." Jhope said.

"I love you with all of my heart babe. Please be okay. Please recover quickly so we can go to the zoo again like you wanted. I'll buy you churros and ice cream, and anything else you want. We can also get matching animal onesies like you wanted so please... wake up soon." Rachel said as she cried.

"Hyung... don't let that stupid driver win. We love you. None of us can live without you. We're glad you're okay, we're glad you're alive." Jungkook said as he wiped his tears. I took a deep breath.

"Kim Taehyung. What is this? What are you doing here? Why aren't you smiling your adorable square smile? Why aren't you hugging Rachel and looking at her adoringly with your great eyes? Why are you in a bed, in a full-body cast, not moving or speaking? Please. Wake up. Kim Taehyung, please." I said. Everyone put their heads down at my words. We all had heavy hearts, looking at our friend so hurt.

"I hate myself." Jimin sobbed behind me. We all turned to Jimin. He had his head down and his arms extended as he had them on Taehyung's bed post. He was leaning forward, sobbing.

"Kim Taehyung I am so sorry. I am so sorry I hurt you. I am so sorry I didn't stop to listen. I am so sorry I declined your help. I am so sorry that I am such a shitty friend. I am so sorry for not being there for you, when you would never leave my side, even if I yelled at you to. I am so sorry I took you for granted. You got hit by a car, running after me, trying to comfort me. Why are you in this bed?! Get up! Beat the crap out of me! I should be in this bed, not you! You deserved nothing more than the best from this world so what are you doing?" Jimin yelled through his sobs. The boys all surrounded Jimin and hugged him. Meanwhile, I stared at him in complete, heartbroken shock as tears flowed like a river out of my eyes.

"Stop it Park Jimin." Rap Monster said.

"Don't beat yourself up." Jin said.

"This isn't what Taehyung wants." Jhope said.

"Get yourself together, we don't want to see two of you hurt." Suga said.

"Hyung..." Jungkook said. They all pat his back as he continued to cry. I turned to Rachel as she looked back at me. We were all a crying, heartbroken mess.

Rachel and I gave the boys space and went outside. In the hallway, we hugged and wiped our tears.

"What about Taehyung's parents? Did anyone call them?" I asked.

"His parents don't live in Korea. They live in Canada because his dad has a business there. Taehyung used to live here with his grandma, but she passed away, so now he lives with Jin." Rachel explained.

"We should call his parents and let them know." I said. Rachel nodded.

"Taehyung's phone was shattered in the accident, but I'm sure the boys have his parents' numbers." Rachel said. I nodded and slowly walked back in.

"Guys, Rachel and I will inform Taehyung's parents. Can I have one of your phones?" I asked the boys. They were still comforting Jimin. Jin's phone was on Taehyung's bedside, but he was still comforting Jimin so he didn't move to get it. Instead, he just reached into Jimin's pocket and gave me his phone.

"Jimin has their numbers too." He explained. I nodded and quickly took the phone, catching a glimpse of Jimin still in the same position I last saw him, with his head down.

I quickly and silently went back out.

"I got Jimin's phone." I told Rachel. I tried to open it, but it was locked with a passcode. Is it still the date of when we started dating?

I put the numbers in, but to my dismay, it wasn't the password anymore.

"I don't know his password." I sighed.

"Should we ask the boys?" Rachel asked.

"They're still comforting Jimin..." I said. I looked down at his phone again. I had another idea on what his phone password might be. Cautiously, I put the numbers in, and I watched as his phone unlocked. Instantly, my heart hurt. That was it. That was his new phone password.

It was the date of the day we broke up.

I shook the thought away and looked through his contacts. When I found Taehyung's mom's number, I called and handed the phone to Rachel.

"Hello? Hi Mrs. Kim, this is Rachel. I have something to tell you..."

.

.

It is now two in the morning and the doctor said that we had to leave. Rachel said that she would stay overnight. From what I heard earlier, his parents have a lot of money, so they will be able to pay for Taehyung's medical bill while he recovers. Thank God.

The boys and I dragged our feet out of the hospital after saying bye to Rachel. When we were out, we all stopped and stared blankly at the floor, all lifeless and tired.

"Come on guys, I'll give all of you a ride home." Jin said. We all followed him to his car and got in. Even then, everyone was silent. First to get dropped off was me and Jimin. When Jin pulled up in front of our houses, I looked at the time.

2:30 am.

If my dad is home already, I'm dead meat.

"Thank you for the ride Jin." I said.

"No problem." Jin said.

"Thank you hyung." Jimin said quietly.

"Go guys, get some rest. It's late." Jin said. Jimin and I both nodded and opened our doors.

"Bye guys." I muttered. Everyone was still sad and silent. We closed the door and the car drove off, leaving Jimin and I alone. I took a deep breath.

"I'll see you tomorrow Jimin." I said. It is now the weekend, so we will all be going back to the hospital tomorrow morning.

"Jamie... how did you unlock my phone?" He asked.

"Lucky guess." I said with a heavy heart.

"I'm sorry." He said.

"I think we both apologized enough for one night. You need some rest. Go shower and finish treating your wounds." I said. He gave me a small nod.

"See you tomorrow." He said.

"See you." I said back. We were both in no mood to talk about our own problems at that moment. We both departed into our own homes. When I got in the house, Elizabeth rushed to me from her room.

"Thank goodness your back, I was so worried! Your father isn't home yet, he will be back at 3." She said. I blankly nodded at her and started dragging my feet up the stairs.

"How's your friend?" She asked.

"Alive... but broken." I answered. When I got to my room, I stared at my closed window and curtains. I took a deep breath as I crashed on my bed. No more tears were left to shed. My lips were dry from dehydration and my face was swollen.

I looked up at my ceiling, not able to see anything from the darkness. For the first time in a while, I decided to talk to my mom.

"Mom. My friends got hurt today." I said to nothing.

"Mom. My friend almost died today!" I said a bit louder.

"Mom. I won a competition today." I said in a lower voice.

"Mom. Dad didn't beat the crap out of me today." I sighed.

"Mom... I miss you." I said. So many things were going through my mind, but I just wanted it to stop. I wanted everything to stop. Even for just one minute. I just needed a moment to breathe.

"Mom. I don't want to do this anymore. Please. Help me."
