Chapter 19

23:17, 30 July 2017

Colby was fast asleep in Sam's bed, Sam laid next to him his thoughts moving a thousand miles per hour. School was suppose tomorrow and anxiousness swirled in Sam's stomach. The girl whom Colby called Macy was among his troubled thoughts. Something about her was off but Sam didn't want to tell Colby his thoughts in fear that he would sound jealous. Colby was his but not at the same time. They just got together and sure he had strong feelings for Colby but that didn't mean Colby couldn't talk to other people. Sam let out a sigh, his eyelids heavy but his head refused to stop the whirling thoughts. His hands shook and his breath became uneasy at the thought of Colby leaving him for the small pretty girl that waited for him at his locker. Sam was in love, too afraid to admit it out loud to the boy he cared about, but love made your thoughts jumbled and made your heart beat out of time. Sam was still falling, at first he thought he was falling with Colby, but that girl, Macy has him believing he had been falling by himself the whole time. He was hoping there was something or some one there to catch him but Sam was sure shadows pass through grasping hands whether they want to or not.

Matt was bored but as soon as the lights turned off he jumped, ready to set his plan in motion. Was stalking the blonde freak and his boyfriend creepy? Yes. Was it uncalled for? Not to Matt Rangers. He was obsessed with order and Colby and Sam ruined it. Sam was the loner, Colby was suppose to become the king of the school, it was suppose to be the cliche high school story. But Sam and his sinning ways had to ruin it. For months Matt secretly ran the school with his fists and anger, using students like Sam as toys. Boys like Colby were admired and that is how the social status worked. Matt was willing to do anything to keep it that way. School was the only structure Matt Rangers had in life. His mom ignored him and his dad practically drank himself to death every night, he was a no one in his household, a shadow. School was the place he controlled. It was his domain and he wasn't going to let Golbach and the new kid destroy it. Matt knew what he had to do sending a quick one worded text to Macy, 'Now.'  As the text was sent Matt let out a triumphant laugh as he headed home unnoticed.

Macy Reynolds jumped at the sound of her buzzing phone. She swallowed her regret and guilt as she looked at the recent text from Matt. Every fiber in her being wanted to rebel. She wanted to tell Sam and Colby she was sorry and that it wasn't her fault. She wanted to hold them close and to remind them that everyone sees it, there love. It is there and it is real and don't let anyone ruin it. She wanted to whisper in Sam's ear and tell him that the love he sees in Colby's eyes is real and that she knows he would never leave him for anyone. She wanted to hold Colby close to look him in the eyes and tell him sorry for ruining probably the first real thing he has had in a long time. She wants to tell him that everyone saw through his leather jacket facade but put up with it because the students of Blue Valley know what it is like to be broken, they all have watched a blonde boy grow up the same way broken and mangled. They knew and they understand and they support you. She wanted to tell the boys that the school supported them that they were ecstatic that Sam and Colby found happiness with in each other and that only a few were like Rangers. Instead she shut off her head as they reminded her of broken limbs and black eyes pulling up Colby's contact number,

To Colby: Hey baby x You done messing with that blonde yet? You obviously won the bet, you dated for more than two days. Come back to me, I miss you. Love you babe.

The small girl reread her texted and prayed to what ever higher being was listening that it sounded too corny and unbelievable for the two lovers to fall for. Who would let there boyfriend date another for a bet? Macy only hoped that the one part she had control over was enough to make the boys realize it's fake and there is nothing to worry about. Macy hoped but deep down she knew the two boys were broken, this, no matter how unbelievable it sounded was going to break them. Broken people tend to look past the obvious. She knew their hearts were going to break regardless and it was all her fault. At that moment Macy Reynolds truly hated herself and Matt Rangers.

The sea was calm, his breathing even. Colby snuggled up into Sam's side as Sam stared into the darkened room. He tried to calm his ragged breathing but it was as if his grip on reality was fading. Love does crazy things to your mind and Sam felt him self slowly going insane. He fell so quick for Colby. He loved Colby faster than most. He loved the messy haired brunette and Sam was undoubtedly jealous of Macy. No matter how many times his brain reminded him that Colby said he didn't know her his heart would scream that it must be a lie. The moons gleam was dying as he saw his boyfriend's phone come alive on his nightstand. Whispers of encouragement filled his head as he reached over for Colby's phone, the sleeping boy completely unaware. Who would be texting Colby in this hour anyways? So Sam talked himself into picking it up, it was fine because what if it was Colby's mother or something important. He needed to check. Sam's eyes read the text over and over from someone named Baby #1, his heart dropping. With shaking fingers he texted back the only thing he could think of,

 Who is this?
