Chapter 6
17:59, 18 July 2017A/N: This is really corny just as a heads up! ~Nightmare
Colby quickly shut his eyes as he heard footsteps coming towards his room hoping and praying who ever it was wouldn't come in. Luck wasn't on his side as he heard his mother squeal with delight. Staying still he breathed deeply trying to pretend he was still fast asleep in dreamland. His mother didn't notice the hitch in her son's breathing as she yanked out her phone quickly pulling up her camera.
Sam woke up to a squeal, a flash, and a heartbeat coming from his pillow. He jumped when he realized his once cool pillow turned into a human chest, Colby's. He pulled away quickly sitting up an apology already resting on his lips when he turned to see Colby's mother staring at her phone squealing, "Uh Mrs. Brock what is happening?" Sam sleepily slurred, the still sleep faking Colby resisted the urge to awe at the blonde haired boy, "Oh nothing sweetie, I was just seeing you two were up yet I'm about ready to make some pancakes." Sam only nodded laying back down in bed, subconsciously moving back to the warmth of Colby, "Alright I'm sure Colby will be up by the time they're finished/" Sam concluded his eyes already begging to be shut once again. Colby's mother just giggled, "I'm not so worried about Colby there, it looks like your more tired than you are letting in Samuel." Sam sleepily chuckled as the women exited the room her secret photo on her phone still pulled up resting in her hand.
"Colby?" Sam asked as he shook the 'sleeping' brunette. When Colby didn't answer he shrugged finding his real pillow and falling back asleep. The brunette opened his eyes to see the sleeping Sam and sighed a relief wanting nothing more but to continue watching the adored face of the blonde boy sleep. Sure Colby figured watching your new friend sleep was creepy but he couldn't help it. He finally figured out what Sam was, not the sun but the moon. He had the type of glow that pulled your eyes to him, the glow was soft and comforting. Colby must have been the rapids Sam mentioned early because only the sea adored the moon as much as Colby adored Sam but he quickly ignored the corny thought vowing to never admit it out loud. Colby watched a lot of movies and read a lot of young adult novels (Secretly of course he was too cool to be seen reading love books) and new that this was biggest cliche of all, falling for a boy he just met but he couldn't help it. From Sam's annoyed glares to his sleepy chuckle, Colby was falling and he was falling quickly.
"Mm, Colby what are you doing?" Sam's voiced pulled Colby from his thoughts, a blush making its way onto his face at the realization that he was caught watching Sam sleep, "Nothing Sammy, just getting ready to wake you back up but it seemed you beat me to it." Colby bit his lip in the realization that he let it slip that he knew Sam was already awake but thankfully the boy didn't pay enough attention instead caught up with only one word, "Sammy? Really Colby where did that come from?" Colby let out a small laugh, leave it to Sam Golbach to get up on a nickname, "It means nothing Sam, it just slipped off the tongue." Sam rolled his eyes as he sat up, "So uh, your mom is making pancakes if you want to head down stairs?" Sam questioned as the two rolled out of bed neither one wanting to leave the warmth of the blankets, "Sure Sam lets go." The two descended the steps as Sam's thoughts raced, should he apologize for sleeping on him? Did Colby even know? He definitely didn't want to make it awkward between them. Little did Sam know Colby was thinking the same thing but was too afraid to say anything in fear of making Sam feel uncomfortable. Loud thoughts and a foot steps were the only thing the boys could hear until they reached the kitchen, "Fudge!" Sam and Colby walked into the kitchen to the smell of burning, "Uh mom?" Colby asked as the distressed women looked at her shriveled up black mess, "Is that suppose to be a pancake?" Sam whispered to Colby trying to hold back a laugh as Colby only nodded a yes.
"Sorry boys. I guess I forgot that I was making pancakes for a second." Mrs. Brock laughed as the two boys followed suit. "Why don't you boys go sit down and I will try and make you some more." The blonde and brunette nodded as they headed towards the kitchen table, "What could've possible distracted your mother that much?" Colby only shrugged but deep down he knew she distracted herself with that picture and fantasies. Colby's mom had always been supportive of him and sometimes it was a little much. She went a little overboard when it came to friends and future lovers. Colby could imagine his mom being a teenage girl with all the squealing she does over Colby. Sam only nodded along unaware of Colby's thoughts.
"So huh, Sam, how did you sleep last night?" A blush covered Colby's pale cheeks as he fixed his messy hair a small smile on his lips. Sam rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly as he focused on the floor, "I slept really well." Awkward tension filled the small kitchen.
"Pancakes are done!" Both boys jumped as plates were set down in front of them. Mrs. Brock sat across from the two boys with a plate of her own. Silence was kept in the kitchen as the only sound that could be heard was chewing and forks and knifes scratching the plates. Heart beats were irregular and butterflies made it difficult to eat as the mother of the brunette watched in fascination. She knew the two had to made for each other but kept her lips sealed and her thoughts to herself hoping the boys would soon figure it out for themselves. Sure they just met but Mrs. Brock believed in soul mates and just by looking at the boys she knew they were smitten for each other.
Little did the moon and sea know their gravitational pull was only getting stronger.
