I woke up the next morning feeling almost numb. I looked out the window that opened to the fields of their manor. I let out a small sigh as I heard birds chirping and seeing the wind softly sway the branches in the trees.

I'm still here.

I lay in bed for what felt like hours before I heard a soft knock on the door. I turned to see my mom peak her head in.

"Hi honey" she whispered. She walked in already dressed in her all black attire I turned back to the window already sick of that color. "You coming down for breakfast?" She muttered as she came to sit beside me.

"I'm not hungry" I said continuing to gaze out the window.

"My dear" she let out a sigh. "I know this isn't ideal.. but it's for the best-"

"For the best" I let out a sarcastic laugh. "The best for you and father maybe. Not me"

"I don't expect you to understand" my mother whispered.

"Yeah just your 16 year old daughter doesn't understand that you're giving my hand in marriage away for a business transaction" I said finally sitting up to look at her. she gave me a look of sorrow.

"Please get dressed and come to breakfast. You'll get an ear full if you don't" she said sadly.

"As if I care.." I muttered taking my gaze off of her.

"I do. Please come down...for me." She put her hand on my knee gently before I felt her weight come off the bed and go towards the door. "Wear something nice." She added before leaving the room. I rolled my eyes and went to find one of the many black dresses I had to own now.

We were broke enough to sell my hand but not for a whole new wardrobe. Funny.

I threw on a dress and clipped half my hair back. I did a small amount of makeup, enough to keep my dads mouth shut for the day. I left my room and closed the door behind me. As I was walking to the stairs I heard and saw Draco coming from across the hall. He was wearing an all black suit again, fitting in with the formal all black dress code they apparently have around here. We both awkwardly met at the stairs.

"Go ahead" I said shyly. He just shook his head

"No please, after you" not wanting to argue I went downstairs first. Not really remembering where I was going I stopped at the bottom.

"This way" he said nodding his head towards the place we had dinner last night. I walked in to see everyone else already in there and a breakfast feast across the table.

Is it daily they have to flaunt their money around with extravagant clothes and food?

"Morning dear" my father said playing nice he went to reach for my hand but I pulled it away not caring if the Malfoy's saw. I couldn't stand the idea of him touching me. I sat down in the same seat as last night and helped myself to some food. "Manners" he muttered into my ear as he was inches away from me.

"Thank you for your hospitality" I said still serving my food. Lucius nodded at me.

"It's our pleasure dear" Narcissa smiled. As we ate the parents were conversing. I again drowned them out as I didn't give a shit.

"Draco dear, why don't you bring y/n to diagon alley today and make sure she has everything for school." She was smiling at him and he nodded.

"Sure" he said shortly.

Once we finished breakfast I said goodbye to my mother and followed Draco to a large room with sitting chairs, a large couch and fireplace inside.

"We'll use floo powder" he said stepping up. Grabbing the powder from a bucket beside the fireplace and walking in. "Diagon Alley" he shouted throwing the powder down and causing a green flame to engulf him. I soon followed after and landed in a large room right after him. Almost knocking him down.

"Sorry" I muttered as I brushed myself off. He didn't say anything just started walking towards the door. The first place we went to was for me to get my robes. But as I was getting fitted I had a realization. "I don't have any money" I muttered and gulped.

"I know. I was instructed to pay for you. Since your family are just a bunch of leeches. Penniless bloody Americans" He snapped. I glared at him, even though he wasn't wrong I wish he wouldn't take it out on me.

"Let me just go rip up our wedding contract and you can be arranged to marry a different pureblood, maybe if you're lucky you'll actually be related to this one!" I gave him a sarcastic smile and the glare on my face was transferred to his. "I hear inbreeding is all the rage with you're families" I say slightly quieter and crossing my arms. That was true too. British purebloods were around for so long because they inbred at one point or another. That's the main reason my family line is dying out, or 'mixing blood' we don't do that shit.

"Don't talk about my family like that" he muttered

"Then don't talk about mine" I rebutted. We both sighed as the woman who was fitting me came back to finish her work. Draco unkindly paid for my things and we walked out the door. The air was always filled with awkward tensions and silence as he took me around to the rest of the shops.

"It's completely dead here" I said when we were finishing up.

"Yeah well people stopped coming as frequently when the death eaters came back" Draco muttered. We were walking back the place we had came to go back to their manor.

"Thank you for buying this stuff for me" I whispered. He looked down at me but I didn't care to make eye contact or see the expression on his face. Every time he pulled out his wallet to pay I was more embarrassed by the idea that I couldn't do it myself.

"Well I had no choice" he muttered and looked away from me.

"Choice" I scoffed. "I don't even know what that word means" I said sarcastically as we continued our way back to his home.
