🖤 STRAY KIDS FANFICTION: The Witness (11)⚠️🩸🤰

06:59, 11 April 2025

Location: Old Seoul Tunnels — 3:02 a.m.

You didn't remember falling.

You just remember the cold floor against your cheek. The sound of dripping water. The faint pulse of life in your belly... slowing.

"No, no, no—" you whimpered, weakly cradling your stomach. "Stay with me, baby, please... not yet..."

But your body? It was shutting down. The blood was pooling too fast.

You tried to scream— But all that came out was a strangled sob.

Then—footsteps.

Not soft ones.

Heavy boots. Multiple.

You blinked through hazy vision...

And saw him.

Your brother.

Flanked by men in riot gear. His face was cold, cruel, victorious.

"Found you."

"No..." you gasped. "Stay away..."

He crouched beside you, brushing hair from your sticky, pale face.

"You shouldn't have run, Y/N."

"This baby... it's not yours..."

"Everything in your body is mine," he hissed. "You think you're carrying life? You're carrying a weapon. And I'll carve it out of you if I have to."

Your eyes widened.

But your strength? Gone.

"You're not going to make it anyway," he whispered. "But maybe it still can."

He nodded to one of his men.

"Sedate her. Prep extraction."

You tried to scream again—

But the needle hit your neck.

And the world went black.

⏳ Elsewhere... Chan

The car slammed to a stop.

Felix jumped out, scanning the tunnel entrance.

"We got movement. Heat signatures, heading deeper underground. It's them."

Chan was already out of the car, sprinting through the mud.

"She's in there," he said, breath ragged. "She's in there. I feel it."

They stormed into the tunnels—Hyunjin and Changbin at his heels.

Gunfire.

Screams.

Chaos.

Chan didn't flinch.

He mowed through the guards like they were paper. Eyes bloodshot. Rage in his bones.

Then—he saw her.

On a cold table. Strapped down. Wires and needles in her arms. Lips blue. Belly bare. Machines beeping.

And standing over her?

Your brother.

Chan snapped.

"GET YOUR HANDS OFF HER!"

He tackled him like a rabid animal—fists flying. Bones cracked. Blood sprayed.

Felix and Hyunjin freed you while Changbin held off reinforcements.

Your eyes fluttered open. Barely.

"Chan..."

"I'm here," he choked out, pressing your bloodied hand to his cheek. "God, Y/N—I'm so sorry. I didn't know how to protect you. I failed you."

You coughed weakly.

"You didn't fail..."

Your trembling hand slid to your stomach.

"Our baby's still... fighting."

The monitor beeped again. Heartbeat. Faint... but steady.

Chan dropped his forehead to yours.

"I didn't want them before," he whispered, voice shattered. "But now... I'll give my soul to keep you both alive."

"Even if it kills me."

Location: Unknown medical bunker, deep underground

You laid on the sterile bed, breathing shallow, skin ghost-pale. IVs pumping into your arm, sensors buzzing faintly above your belly.

Chan hadn't left your side.

Not for a second.

His hand was wrapped tightly around yours, head bowed, lips pressed to your knuckles like a prayer. Like if he let go... you'd disappear.

"Come on, tiny..." he whispered. "Come back to me."

Suddenly, the doors burst open. Minho rushed in, holding a cracked black folder—stamped with a faded government seal.

"You need to see this."

Chan didn't look up.

"She's dying, Min. Nothing else matters."

"Yes. It does." Minho slapped the file down. "Because this isn't the first time she's been through this."

Chan's head lifted slowly.

"What are you talking about?"

"Her mother." "She didn't die in childbirth like we were told. She was terminated. After carrying the first viable hybrid embryo."

Chan stood slowly, his voice barely holding.

"You're saying—"

"Her mom was part of the original genetic trial. One that succeeded. And your Y/N? She inherited it."

"Inherited what?"

"Everything. The womb, the DNA adaptations, the link. She wasn't supposed to be just another surgeon, Chan. She was supposed to be the blueprint."

Chan's blood ran cold.

"She doesn't even know."

"Exactly. But your child?" Minho looked at the screen—where the baby's vitals flickered. "That fetus isn't just surviving. It's adapting. Rapidly. Faster than any subject we've ever seen."

"Which means...?"

"If we don't stabilize her... both of them will die. But if we do... we're looking at the first true hybrid."

💔 Meanwhile... You

You were floating.

Somewhere between pain and peace. A soft void. Warm... but sad.

And there she was.

Your mother.

She looked just like in the photos... except younger. Stronger. More alive.

"Mama..." you whispered.

She smiled, brushing your hair back softly.

"You're so small," she whispered. "But so strong. Stronger than I ever was."

You blinked up at her, confused.

"You were... like me?"

She nodded.

"I carried the first. But I wasn't ready. They weren't either. So they took me out before I could fight." "But you? You loved before you even understood what you were carrying."

Tears rolled down your cheeks.

"I'm so scared, mama..."

"Don't be," she whispered. "Because he's waiting for you. And this time... he's ready to fight."

⏳ Back in reality...

Your body jolted. Monitors screamed.

Chan grabbed you instantly, voice shaking.

"She's seizing—Y/N! No—don't leave me! I didn't get to say I'm sorry—please—"

Your eyes opened. Barely.

"Chan..."

He collapsed beside you, burying his face in your neck.

"You came back."

"Always," you whispered.

"I'll fix this," he swore. "I don't care what it takes—I'll keep you and the baby alive. Even if I have to sell every soul in this bunker."

Location: Medical Bunker – Day 1

The lights buzzed above your head.

You lay on a reinforced medical table—sweat on your skin, veins glowing faintly beneath the surface, your pulse erratic.

"She's deteriorating fast," Seungmin muttered, scanning your vitals. "The baby's healing her organs... but draining everything else to do it."

Felix adjusted the IV. Minho paced. Hyunjin hadn't spoken in hours.

And Chan?

He was beside you.

On a stool. One hand gripping yours. His other hand clenched into a fist, nails digging into his palm until he bled.

"Y/N," he whispered. "Can you hear me?"

You blinked slowly, weakly turning your head.

"Yeah... still here."

Your voice was a whisper of a whisper.

"I'm gonna fix this, okay?" Chan said. "I promise. We're gonna walk out of here with our baby. You're gonna name them. I'll build a crib with my own hands. We'll be free."

You gave him the tiniest smile.

"You think... I'll make it 3 days?"

"You'll make it forever."

But you both knew he was lying.

Day 2 – 3:13am

You woke up screaming.

Your entire body was on fire. Blood stained the sheets. The walls. Your gown.

And your stomach?

It glowed.

Not metaphorically. Literally.

Faint blue veins pulsed beneath your skin like something otherworldly had woven itself into you.

Chan burst into the room, half-dressed, gun in hand.

"What's wrong?!"

You looked up at him, tears streaking down your face.

"It's... moving."

"The baby?"

You nodded.

"It's scared. It thinks I'm dying."

Felix scanned your vitals.

"The fetus is reacting to your stress levels. It's sending out chemical protectants—almost like... it's trying to bond."

Chan turned slowly.

"Bond?"

Seungmin stepped in, whispering:

"We've seen this once before. In the original test subject. Her body adapted to the point she and the baby became biologically inseparable." "When she died... the child shut down."

"You're saying if she dies..."

"The baby dies too."

Chan looked down at you. Eyes full of devotion. Fear. Rage. He dropped to his knees beside you, gripping your face with both hands.

"Then you can't die."

"I'm trying," you whispered.

"Try harder," he breathed, pressing his forehead to yours.

"Because I swear to god, Y/N... if I lose you—*if I lose both of you—*I will never forgive this world."

Day 2 – 11:58pm

The lab was silent.

Everyone asleep. Exhausted. Drained.

You woke with a jolt. Your fingers twitched. Your vision cleared.

You sat up—no dizziness. No nausea.

You stood.

You felt... strong.

The mirror across the room reflected something new. You. But not you. Your eyes faintly glowing gold. Your skin smooth, healed. Your heartbeat in sync with the second one inside you.

And then—Chan walked in.

Stopped cold.

"Y/N..."

You turned slowly. Smiling. Alive. Radiating warmth. Power.

"It's working, Chan. I think... we're going to be okay."

He took one slow step forward.

"You don't look human anymore."

You took his hand. Placed it on your stomach.

"Neither does our child."

And he kissed you.

Not because you were okay. But because for the first time... he believed you might actually make it.
