🖤 STRAY KIDS FANFICTION: The Witness (7)🌧️🏚️

06:46, 11 April 2025

The van screeched off the highway.

Rain lashed at the windshield. Thunder cracked like bones. And beside you, Chan gripped the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles went white.

"Where are we going?" you asked, shivering under the blanket.

He didn't answer.

Just kept driving.

Mile after mile. No music. No light. Just you, the storm, and the man unraveling at 80 mph.

Two hours later... You pulled into a clearing, headlights cutting through the fog.

What stood ahead wasn't a house. Not anymore.

It was a skeleton of one. Charred wood. Burnt beams.

A home that had been set on fire and left to die.

Your breath caught.

"Chan... what is this place?"

He stepped out. Walked into the wreckage. Didn't flinch. Didn't speak.

You followed. Rain soaking through your clothes, feet crunching on ash and broken glass.

And then he said—quiet, almost a whisper:

"This is where I stopped being human."

You stood in the ruins.

Smoke still clinging to the bones of the house.

Chan knelt by a scorched floorboard. Brushed away the soot.

"My room was right here. I used to draw on the wood when I couldn't sleep."

You stared, heart aching.

"Why'd it burn?"

He didn't look at you.

"Because I lit the match."

Your lungs froze.

"You...?"

"My father was a monster. To my mom. To me." "So I made it look like an accident. Took my mom and my little sister and ran."

His voice cracked.

"But I was too late. He'd already..." His eyes shut. Fists clenched.

"They didn't make it."

And then—he finally turned to face you. Soaking wet. Haunted. Hands shaking.

"Now you know what I am."

You didn't speak.

You just walked forward. Took his face in your hands.

And kissed him. In the rain. In the ashes. In the exact place where he thought love couldn't survive.

You kissed him like he was worthy. Like he wasn't ruined.

His arms wrapped around you—tight. Desperate.

The kiss grew deeper, slower. Your breath hitched as his lips moved to your neck, your shoulder, your jaw.

"You still want me?" he whispered against your skin. "Even knowing all this?"

You nodded.

"I don't want anyone else."

The night ended wrapped in each other under what was left of a roof.

No promises. No pretending the world wasn't out for blood.

Just you and him. Two broken people who somehow felt whole together.

It happened so fast.

One second, you were laughing in the ruined safehouse kitchen—baking toast with Seungmin and Chan using a janky little camping stove like it was a normal morning.

The next?

BANG. SMOKE. GLASS SHATTERING.

"FLASHBANG!"

Your ears rang. Vision went white. You were thrown to the ground. Footsteps. Screams. Gunfire.

Chan yelling your name.

"Y/N! DON'T MOVE! STAY—"

You didn't hear the rest.

Because someone grabbed you. Injected something into your neck. And everything went black.

When you woke up...

Cold floor. Metal cuffs. Fluorescent lights.

The smell of bleach and formaldehyde.

You weren't in a warehouse this time. You were in a government lab.

And across the room?

Jisung. Bloody. Bruised. Strapped to a chair. Eyes barely open.

"Don't say anything," he whispered. "They're listening."

You crawled toward him.

"What do they want?"

"They want Chan to come for you." "They're using us as bait." "They're going to make him choose."

Your blood ran cold.

"Choose... what?"

He smiled bitterly, coughing up blood.

"Either he gives himself up... Or they kill you. Slowly. On live broadcast."

Back at the safehouse ruins...

Chan was losing it.

Felix tried to calm him. Minho was calling in favors. Hyunjin punched a hole through the wall just to let out rage.

But Chan?

He was just quiet.

Too quiet.

He stared at the bloodied floor where you had been taken. Eyes blank.

And then, slowly, he turned to the others.

"If they think they can take her and survive... they don't know who I used to be."

Minho: "Hyung—what are you thinking?"

Chan pulled out a phone. Dialed a number no one had seen him use in years.

"I'm cashing in my last favor," he said coldly. "Get me into the government bunker. I'm going in."

Inside the lab...

You were tied to a table now. Needles hooked into your arm. Monitors beeping.

A man in a suit smiled over you.

"Tell me, doctor... how does it feel knowing you were never the prize—just the punishment?"

You spit at his face.

"He'll come for me. And when he does... I hope he tears this place apart."

The man laughed.

"Oh, sweetheart. We're counting on it."

You were strapped to a gurney. Weak. Dizzy. Something was off.

You blinked at the harsh lights above you. A monitor beside you beeped steadily. The screen showed data... lots of it. Heart rate. Hormone levels.

Your blood ran cold when you saw one word flash on screen:

"hCG: POSITIVE." "GESTATIONAL AGE: APPROX. 3 WEEKS."

"No... no no no..."

You couldn't breathe.

Not here. Not like this.

A doctor in a lab coat entered, clipboard in hand, followed by the man who had injected you days ago—the head of the operation. The one pulling every string.

He looked at you with the kind of smile that made your skin crawl.

"Well, well, well. Seems like the little stray left you a parting gift."

You stared at him, chest heaving.

"You're lying."

"You think we'd run a full tox screen and not check for early pregnancy? You're carrying Bang Chan's child, Y/N."

He leaned closer, voice lowering.

"You're not just a witness anymore... you're a legacy."

Back at the hideout—

Chan was gearing up in silence. Black tactical gear. Bulletproof vest. Loaded weapons.

He was unblinking. Unshakable. Unstoppable.

Hyunjin burst in, face pale.

"Hyung... we intercepted comms. They ran medicals on her. One of the files got leaked."

Chan grabbed it.

Opened the email.

Read the words.

Froze.

"Subject: Y/N — 3 Weeks Pregnant. Father: Bang Chan."

His fingers crumpled the paper. His breath caught in his throat. And for the first time in years...

He sank to his knees.

"They know..." he whispered. "They fucking know."

Felix crouched beside him, hand on his back.

"She doesn't even know, does she?"

Chan shook his head slowly.

"No. She doesn't. And now they're gonna use my baby against me."

His voice shattered.

"They'll kill them both just to break me."

Then his expression turned cold.

Like ice over fire.

"They want a monster?" "I'll give them one."

Back at the lab...

They hooked you to more machines.

"We're running out of time," the man said, pacing. "Bang Chan will come. We'll use the pregnancy announcement in the next broadcast."

You screamed, fought the restraints.

"Don't you DARE—!"

He smiled darkly.

"Imagine the look on his face, Y/N, when he hears it live. 'Congratulations, Daddy.'"

You sobbed. Helpless. Furious. Terrified.

But somewhere deep in your chest... Hope flickered.

Because if there was one thing you knew—

Chan would burn heaven and hell before letting anything happen to his child.
