πŸ–€ STRAY KIDS FANFICTION: The Witness (5)πŸ©ΈπŸ’”

06:35, 11 April 2025

The flashback hit you like a migraineβ€” Sudden. Blinding. Inescapable.

That alley. The streetlights flickering like dying stars. Your breath coming out in clouds as you knelt beside the blood-soaked body, your surgeon instincts kicking in even though your soul was screaming.

And thenβ€” He appeared.

Black boots. Black gloves. Eyes that glowed like they'd been carved from the void.

Bang Chan.

Not the version you knew now. No soft hoodie. No gentle hand on your waist. No forehead kisses after nightmares.

This Chan?

He was war made flesh.

You gasped. Backed up. But he didn't run. Didn't even flinch.

He just looked down at you, head tilting... curious.

"Should've walked faster, sweetheart."

And then everything went dark.

PRESENT DAY β€”

Chan had fallen asleep beside you again, one arm draped over your waist like a man holding onto his anchor.

You should've felt peace.

But you felt... watched.

And you were.

Because outside the cabin, a full SWAT team was moving into placeβ€”guns raised, radios crackling.

"Dr. Y/N, if you can hear usβ€”step outside! You're safe!"

You froze.

Your mouth went dry.

Safe?

Safe was the man bleeding in your arms. Safe was the criminal who made sure no one else laid a finger on you. Safe was Bang Chan.

They didn't get it. They never would.

"Y/N," Chan stirred, still groggy. "You okay?"

You nodded.

"They found us."

His eyes sharpened instantly.

"I'll hold them off. You run."

You laughed, heart breaking. "You really think I'd leave you?"

"Don't be stupid," he snapped, sitting up with a wince. "They'll kill me. You can still go back."

You crawled into his lap, straddling him, grabbing his face. Forceful. Unapologetic. Yours.

"I was safe out there," you whispered, forehead to his. "But I was never alive."

His hands shook as they gripped your waist.

"I don't deserve you."

"Then ruin me properly."

The front door exploded open.

Voices screamed. Guns were raised.

You stepped in front of him, arms outstretched, voice loud and commanding.

"IF YOU SHOOT HIM, I SWEAR TO GOD, I'LL NEVER COME BACK."

A pause.

Then a command: "Take the girl!"

Chan pushed you behind him, but you didn't budge.

"No! No, you don't understand! I love him! HE'S NOT HOLDING ME HOSTAGE!"

They didn't care.

Hands grabbed you. Ripped you away from him.

You screamed. Fought like hell. Bit one officer's arm and tasted blood. But they dragged you out.

Chan's voice thundered behind you.

"Y/N!!!"

Your name. Shattered.

And thenβ€” They cuffed him. Slammed him into the snow. His lip split. He looked up through red-stained snow and locked eyes with youβ€”

And he smiled.

Like even if this was the end... You had said his name when the world came for you.

And that was enough.

Interrogation Room Blues

Click.

The cuffs dug into your skin.

Click.

The cold metal table beneath your fingers made your stomach turn.

Click.

The detective's pen tapped like a slow, taunting metronome.

"We need you to be honest, Dr. Y/N."

You said nothing.

They slid a photo across the table.

Bang Chanβ€”on the ground, blood on his temple, face bruised but smirking like he'd swallowed dynamite and dared them to light the match.

"This man kidnapped you. He's dangerous. He murdered someone in front of you. You don't owe him anything."

You laughed. Quiet. Hollow. On the verge of something monstrous.

"I don't owe him anything?" you whispered, leaning in.

"He risked his life every second to keep me breathing."

The detective scowled. "You're delusional."

You smiled sweetly.

"Then maybe I like being delusional."

They slammed the photo down and stormed out.

You were alone now.

And all you could think was his name.

MEANWHILE β€”

Chan sat in his cell, back against the wall, blood drying on his cheek, eyes focused on the crack in the ceiling.

He looked calm.

But inside? He was dying.

Every second you weren't beside him, he imagined you crying. Cold. Alone. Hating him. He wanted to scream.

But thenβ€” A guard passed.

Slipped something under the cell bars.

A letter.

In your handwriting.

His fingers shook as he opened it.

"Chan, They think I'm broken. But they don't understandβ€”I was already broken before you. You didn't take me. You found me. You're not the villain in my story. You're the reason I'm still writing it. They can lock me up, question me, drug meβ€”I'll still say your name like it's holy. Because it is. I love you. And I'll burn the whole damn city if it keeps you warm. β€”Y/N."

He pressed the letter to his lips. And for the first time since the arrestβ€”he cried.

Days passed.

They tried everything.

Therapists. Reporters. Family. Guilt. They tried to convince you that you were a victim.

But no victim would dream about their captor's smile. Would cry when they saw his face on the news. Would trace his name over and over again in the condensation on the prison glass.

You were in love with the monster. And somehow, that made you feel safe.

Until one night...

Felix appeared in your hospital room. (Don't ask how he got past security. You knew better.)

"He's breaking," he whispered. "And I don't mean like, sad-boy-broken. I mean dangerously silent. We need to get him out."

You blinked. "Waitβ€”what?"

Felix smirked, handing you a burner phone.

"We have a plan. A truck. A route. But we need the one thing he'll never move without."

Your brows furrowed.

"You."

9:03 PM. Moonlight bled across the concrete.

You stood just outside the perimeterβ€” Black hoodie, burner phone, earbud in.

Felix's voice crackled through.

"Truck's in place. Seungmin's disabling the alarms. Han's in the security booth. And Hyunjin... he's waiting for your signal."

You stared at the massive gates of the correctional facility.

"Once we're in," you said quietly, "we don't stop."

Felix:

"Y/N... are you sure? This is a one-way street."

You smiledβ€”bittersweet and borderline feral.

"I'm not walking. I'm running. Straight into hell."

INSIDE THE PRISON.

Bang Chan sat in the visitor room, wrists chained to the metal table.

He hadn't spoken in hours. Hadn't slept in days.

He looked half-dead. Because without you, he was.

Then the lights cut out. Sirens blared. Smoke exploded from the vents.

And the guards shouted, "LOCKDOWN!"

He blinked. Eyes narrowed.

And thenβ€”you appeared.

Dressed head-to-toe in black. Eyes glowing with purpose. Hair pulled back. Expression ruthless.

"Told you I'd burn the city down," you said, chest heaving.

He stared at you like he'd seen the sun rise for the first time in years.

"You came for me?"

You pulled out a pair of bolt cutters.

SNAP. The chains fell.

BOOM. A flashbang went off behind you.

SCREAMS. Guards, blind. Sirens, deafening. Chaos, thick.

And in the middle of itβ€”you grabbed his face and kissed him like time was a lie.

Tongue. Teeth. Tears. He groaned into your mouth, hands gripping your waist so tight it bruised.

"You're insane," he muttered.

You smirked. "I learned from the best."

THE ESCAPE.

Changbin rammed the gates with the truck. Jeongin dropped smoke bombs. Minho had already mapped the tunnels.

You and Chan ran. Hand in hand. Covered in blood and dust and love that could kill a god.

"You sure you still want this?" he gasped between steps.

You stopped dead in your tracks.

Pulled him close. Slammed your lips to his in front of everyoneβ€”sirens blaring, helicopters circling.

And when you pulled back, you whispered:

"There's nothing left out there for me... except you."

--TO BE CONTINUED--(And next time? You'll be in the hideout. Breathing again. Touching again. Loving again. But with a target on both your backs.)

(till then enjoy)
