- Chapter 9 -
21:11, 12 April 2021I avoid going to the common room. I don't want to deal with anyone right now. I make my way to one of the top floors of the castle. I have discovered a windowsill at the end of one of the hallways out of sight of the passing students, in my second year. Ever since it has become my spot. I love watching the horizon and thinking about life. It is my escape from all of this. I also go to it whenever I want to be alone. Today both are the case.
I am walking through different corridors and go up several flights of stairs. My thoughts are going wild. I feel betrayed, sad but most of all angry. I still can't believe it. My mind is going several miles an hour.
I speed through the corridors and after several minutes I finally make it to my spot. Out of frustration, I start to pace around the corridor. I really need to find a way to lose my anger which has been building up since Sirius got out of Azkaban. I try to get a clear picture of everything that happened.
The first thing I should do is send a letter to Remus, maybe it has all been a mistake. If not, maybe I can just stay at Hogwarts, although I probably won't be allowed. I need to think of a way out of this but it's looking very bleak right now. I don't want to see him, I really don't. I don't want to confronted by the fact that I'm just like the rest of his family in his eyes, a family he has hated for his entire life. I just can't handle it.
I start to pace around even faster. I get the urging feeling to punch something. I need to let it all go but sadly Malfoy isn't nearby. Otherwise, I could've used him but I have to make do with something else. I can't take it anymore and put all my strength into the punch I throw at the wall.
My fist hits the wall with great force, a stinging pain sears through my hand. I shake my hand a couple of times but I notice that moving my hand hurts. I've probably broken it. I am not the weakest. I have always outed my frustration in not very smart ways. It isn't my greatest strength.
I do feel instant relief. My head has cleared again. I take a look at my hand. My knuckles are bleeding and I can't seem to move it. I sigh and push myself toward the windowsill. I sit down and take a lollypop out of my robes. I always eat when I'm frustrated.
I open the wrapper and put the lollypop into my mouth. I take a look out of the window and can see several groups of students walking around the square. It has gotten quite late and soon everybody will have to be back in their dorms. I'm not too bothered by that rule, as most teachers already know.
I stare out of the window towards the great lake that I can see in the distance, the water is completely still. Hagrids' hut has already lit up. I look up towards the bright stars visible in the night sky and get lost in thought.

I was still lost in thought when I suddenly hear footsteps coming from a nearby corridor. After a few moments, I hear a familiar deep voice. "Ms. Black, what are you doing here? It's already pa—," He abruptly stops talking and I turn my head to look at him. His eyes are fixed on my hand which is still covered in blood and is currently placed on my knees.
I quickly hide my hand but it's already too late. I see his eyes flaring with anger, although something else was visible in them too. In the blink of an eye, he is standing in front of me, grabbing me at my upper arm and pulling me from the windowsill. I quickly tried to pull my arm back but he keeps a firm grip on it.
I look up, he is looking at me furiously. I don't understand how he can be mad about this.
"What in Merlin's name have you done, you foolish girl." He takes my hand in his, a little bit too roughly. I wince but don't pull back. He notices and quickly loosens his grip. I stare down and looked at my shoes while biting my lower lip. I hate to admit it, but I'm ashamed.
After he silently examined my hand for a few seconds he starts talking again. "You are coming with me to the hospital wing, Madam Pomfrey has to see to this." His tone indicates that this isn't up for discussion. He lowers my hand and turns around. Within seconds he is already out of eyesight. I quickly adjust and come running after him. His robe is billowing behind him and I am already out of breath when I catch up with him. It really is surprising how fast this man walks. He doesn't give me a second glance the whole way there.
