They had checked the numbers of lockers in their own class, then in class 2-3 and 2-1 and were halfway through 1-3's locker check at the end of the school day.

After school, they finished checking 1-3's. They finally struck gold in class 1-2.

"Locker 103," Sana breathed, and broke into it using a bobby pin and hair clip. She whipped out her phone and took pictures for evidence.

"This locker belongs to Son Hongjun," Jun told her, reading the name off a notebook in the locker. Sana thought a moment. "Isn't he Son Hongbin's brother? The basketball guy, class 3-3." Sana asked him. Jun nodded slowly.

She locked the locker again and they left the campus.

"So," Jun began. "so far what do we know?"

"L103 is definitely locker 103, that's Son Hongjun's locker, class 1-2. We didn't find a single thing out of place – notebooks, spare pens, textbooks and a phone case." Sana informed him. "Oh, and I think Mr. Seo is their class teacher."

The desk of the strict teacher with the strange photo and safe with the knife belonged to Mr. Seo.

"The picture on Mr. Seo's desk was taken from the CCTV footage. It was the vandal, but obviously, you can't see the person's face." Sana added. "I'm checking the principal's office next. Tomorrow."

She glanced at Jun as he walked beside her, half bouncing and half dancing.

"Want to come with?" she asked. Jun's face lit up as he nodded, and began dancing crazily, his long arms swinging.

Sana watched him for a while, laughing, when a sudden thought occurred to her.

"Hey Jun," she called him, and he stopped dancing. "When we were, you know, hiding from the guard that night...you didn't just cover our mouths just to keep silent, right?"

Jun stopped and looked Sana in the eye. She stared right back.

"There was another reason, wasn't there?" she asked him, her voice quieter now. Jun continued to stare at her. Then he nodded.

"I wanted to kiss you again..." he admitted quietly.

Sana dropped her gaze. "Why?" she asked him simply.

He hesitated.

"Because I like you, Sana."

Hidden in shadow, Jun gave Sana a leg up before climbing over the wall himself. They sprinted quickly and silently into the West wing. Sana interfered with the cameras again. They set off at a quiet, crouched trot down the corridor and soon reached the principal's office.

His door required a fingerprint scan.

"Tape." Sana whispered to Jun. He dug in his pockets and pulled out a small roll of sellotape. Sana stretched three inches of it over the curve in the handle of the door and when she pulled it away, a print was visible on the sticky side of the tape. She stuck it against the scanner.

It scanned and the light blinked green and the door clicked open. Sana walked in, Jun at her heels. The office looked horrid. Crude language in red spray paint was scrawled on every wall, the desk looked like it had been attacked by a sharp object, and shredded paper work had littered the ground. It was quite clear that attempts at cleaning up hadn't lasted very long at all.

"Check the trash," she whispered to him as they pulled on gloves.

He rummaged around in it for a while, then called her over with an urgent whisper. Sana crouched next to him and he held up in his right hand, a spray can of red paint.

The two exchanged glances before Jun took the sellotape out again to try and get prints. Using an app on Sana's phone, they found two sets of prints that didn't match. Sana guessed one set belonged to Principal Lee. The other – most likely belonging to the vandal – they would have to figure out later.

Sana went over to examine the mutilated desk. Ugly gashes were visible on the worktop and sides. The computer screen was cracked with multicolored lines across it. Sana now knew why their Principal had been so angry. She'd presumed the vandal had simply spray-painted the room, but it was actually much worse.

"Hey Jun, come look at this," she called her partner over, fingering a dagger-like splinter of wood in the table's side. "Doesn't this look like the work of a knife to you? Like a dagger or something?"

Jun's eyes scanned the infliction. It was thin and a lot of splintered wood stuck out at the end of the gash where the hole was the thinnest, as if the knife had been rammed through the table, then dragged downwards until it couldn't cut anymore or got jammed because of the wood's thickness.

"I don't think a short dagger could've done it," he observed. "A knife – like a kitchen knife or something – is more like—"

Jun gasped.
