Chapter 13

00:02, 7 February 2026

Peter P.O.V

"Hey, Peter," Steve calls out casually as he strides past me, heading toward the kitchen. I snap back to reality, disoriented from my daydream. "What are you doing here? You know Tony is with Pepper."

"Yeah, I know," I reply, trying to sound nonchalant. "Actually, I'm here to see Bea."

Steve turns around, his eyebrows raising in curiosity. "Well, not just Bea. I came to see all of you—and of course, Koda."

"Uh-huh. And what exactly do you plan to do with Bea and Koda?" he asks, a knowing grin spreading across his face.

"I don't know—just stuff," I admit, feeling a wave of panic rising in my chest.

"Stuff?" He takes a step closer, clearly amused by my nervousness.

"N—no, not stuff. Just hanging out, you know?" I stammer, trying to sound more relaxed.

"In her room?" he probes, his tone teasing.

"Yes," I confess, my cheeks growing warm.

"Who is in whose room?" Bucky interjects, raising an eyebrow, and I suddenly realize the implication of Steve's words.

"N—no," I stutter, the realization hitting me like a cold splash of water.

"No?" Bucky echoes, clearly intrigued.

"Bea is hanging out with Peter in her room today," Steve announces, with faux seriousness.

"Oh, really?" Bucky replies, a smirk on his face.

"Yes—well, no! It doesn't have to be her room!" I rush to clarify, the pressure of the moment making my words stumble over each other.

"Hmm, and where does it have to be?" Steve challenges, a playful glint in his eyes.

"Uhh, we... we're just going to the dam," I finally say, desperate to shift the conversation.

"The dam?" Steve seems skeptical.

"Yeah, Wanda and Pietro are meeting us there," I add, trying to sound more confident.

"Huh, you sure?" Steve asks, scrutinizing my expression.

"Yeah," I insist, fumbling to maintain my composure.

Just then, Bea appears, clad in blue shorts and a camo tank top. Her hair is straightened and gleams in the light, giving it an almost fiery halo effect.

"H-hey, Bea," I manage to say, my heart racing as I try to act casual.

"You ready?" she brightens, her energy infectious.

"Yeah," I say, feeling a bit steadier.

"Have you finished all your work?" Steve inquires, switching back to his big-brother mode.

"Yes, I have," Bea answers confidently.

"Work?" I ask, puzzled.

"Bea is doing online school," Steve explains, glancing at me.

"Really? Why don't you just go to school?" I query, genuinely curious.

"I was expelled from my last four schools," Bea replies matter-of-factly. "So, Nick started homeschooling me, but he was never around, and these two's methods are a bit outdated. That's why I take online classes now."

"Old?" I echo, trying to wrap my head around it.

"Glad that's done. Let's go," she says, clearly ready to move on.

"Be safe," Bucky and Steve call after us as we head out.

"Yes, Mum. Yes, Dad," Bea laughs back at them, the humor lightening the mood.

As we leave the base, we make our way toward the picturesque lake and the dam. A comfortable silence envelops us, the kind that speaks more than words could convey.

"Petro and Wanda are meeting us there. Come on! We don't want to keep them waiting!" Bea suddenly exclaims, darting off through the trees. I follow closely behind, her hair a bright beacon guiding me through the underbrush.

When we finally reach the dam, an imposing wall of stone stretches majestically toward the sky.

"Now what?" I ask, glancing up at the daunting ascent.

"Now we climb," she replies, determination lining her voice.

"What?" My disbelief hangs in the air.

Without another word, Bea begins her ascent, hands and feet expertly finding holds as if she's done this countless times before. I can't help but admire the grace with which she moves; she looks effortlessly strong and confident.

I take a breath, channeling my own abilities. Using my webbing, I quickly scale the wall, zipping past her.

"I'm winning!" I call out gleefully.

"Cheat!" she retorts, laughter dancing in her tone.

Suddenly, a startled scream pierces the air, and I glance down, my heart dropping as I realize Bea has vanished from sight. "Bea! Where are you?" Panic sets in as I scramble down the wall.

"You are so gullible," a voice calls from above. Looking up, I catch sight of Bea perched at the top, hanging from a sturdy branch, with a triumphant grin spread across her face. "Looks like I win," she teases.

I hurry to the top, relieved and slightly annoyed. "I thought you were hurt!"

"Nope, just had a helping hand," she quips, gesturing to Wanda and Pietro, who are standing there, waving and laughing.

"Look who's the cheat now," I joke, feeling a rush of camaraderie.

"I learn from the best," she nudges me playfully.

"Aw, thanks," I reply, feeling a warmth spread in my chest.

"Not you; Loki," she clarifies, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

"Ahh, okay," I say, trying to suppress my laugh.

"Come on, lovebirds," Wanda playfully chimes in as we set off again.

As we walk through the dense thicket of trees, over jagged rocks, and across babbling streams, I feel the thrill of adventure brewing in the air. Eventually, we reach the cascading waterfall, the water glistening in the sunlight.

"Wow," I breathe, taken aback by the sheer beauty of it all.

"Yep. It's good. But is it safe?" Bea asks, glancing around cautiously.

We all jump as a booming voice interrupts us, and we spin around to find Thor and Loki appearing from behind a cluster of trees.

"Oh, who cares, brother?" Thor exclaims with his characteristic gusto.

"Thor," Bea exclaims, racing towards him with an excited smile, enveloping him in a warm hug. "I missed you. Is Loki with you?"

"No, he isn't. He's back on Asgard," Thor replies, glancing over at Loki. Turning his attention back to us, he adds, "So, this is the Midgardian that you have your eyes on?"

"Shut up," Bea retorts, her cheeks flushing as our eyes lock for a brief moment, and I can't help but smirk at her.

Behind Thor, I see Steve, Bucky, and Vision dressed down in casual clothes, meandering in from a different path. "What are you guys doing here?" Bea asks, surprise evident in her tone.

"Well, I was invited, and the others followed me," Steve says with a shrug, a smile crossing his face. The laughter and chatter begin to mix as we prepare for the next chapter of our day, surrounded by friends and the backdrop of nature's splendor.

Steve's P.O.V.

As I stand at the rugged cliff's edge, gazing down at the thundering waterfall, I finally understand the allure that keeps drawing people here. The shimmering cascade plummets into a crystal-clear pool, sending up plumes of mist that catch the sunlight, creating rainbows in the air. It's a scene straight out of a fairy tale. "How did you stumble upon this hidden oasis?" I ask Bea, my curiosity piqued.

"Wanda found it first," she replies, her voice bright with excitement. "She came out here one day, and I just had to see if the water was deep enough. It turns out it's way deeper than I could hold my breath, so it's definitely a keeper," she adds, her eyes sparkling with the thrill of discovery.

"But is it safe?" I press, a sliver of concern threading through my words.

"Absolutely," she insists with a reassuring smile, full of enthusiasm.

"How can you be so sure?" Thor interjects, skepticism knitting his brow.

"Well, we tied me to a rock first, and then Wanda and Petro tossed me in," she says, a mischievous grin spreading across her face.

"What!" the group gasps in unison, our eyes wide in shock.

"Just kidding! Don't worry, I checked it out first, and it's perfectly safe," she clarifies, laughing.

"Seriously though, you just jump off and climb back up to do it again? That seems like a whole lot of effort for some fun," Thor remarks, shaking his head.

"No, it's much simpler than that! You jump off, and the current sweeps you straight to the island. All you need to do is leap off there!" Bea explains, her enthusiasm palpable.

"Why not just swim to the island?" I ask, still contemplating the logic of that route.

"1. It's a longer swim," she replies, counting on her fingers.

"2. It tires you out more," Petro adds thoughtfully.

"3. It's way more fun!" Wanda chimes in with a playful gleam in her eye. "I'm so bored of waiting!" she declares, and in an instant, she and Petro are shedding their clothes, revealing vibrant swimming costumes underneath.

"Come on!" Petro calls, and without hesitation, he and Wanda leap off the ledge in unison. I watch, my heart racing, as they cascade down, arms outstretched, and plunge into the depths below. The anticipation coils in my stomach like a tightly wound spring. Time seems to stretch as I count each passing second with bated breath. Finally, after an agonizing ten seconds, they break the surface, laughter bubbling in the air.

"Come on, the water is heavenly!" Wanda beckons, her voice echoing over the thundering waterfall.

"Well, come on then!" I reply, still hesitant.

"But we don't have our swimsuits!" I remind them, feeling slightly uncomfortable.

"Actually," Bucky interjects, a sly grin on his face, "I had a hunch we might end up here, so I packed some extras." He tosses each of us a colorful set of swimming costumes.

"You knew it would turn out like this?" I ask, genuinely surprised.

"Yep," he smiles, pride evident in his expression.

We retreat into the verdant underbrush to change, laughter mingling with the sounds of nature. When we emerge, I notice Peter and Bea sitting close together, their heads bent in shared laughter.

"Aww, they're so cute together," Bruce observes, a knowing smile on his face.

"As long as he treats her right, I'm okay with it," Thor says protectively, crossing his arms.

"I'm with you on that," Bucky agrees, his tone serious yet supportive.

Bea leans her head on Peter's shoulder, whispering something sweet and soft that I can't quite make out. Just as they angle towards each other, a rush of surprise washes over me—are they really about to kiss? I quickly divert my gaze, suddenly feeling like an intruder on a private moment.

Just before their lips connect, Bucky interrupts with a loud, "You two are too cute!"

"Bucky!" Thor exclaims, his voice a mix of annoyance and disbelief. "Why did you ruin the moment?"

"I think I'd lose my lunch if that actually happened," he quips, eliciting laughter from the group.

In a flurry, Peter and Bea quickly stand up, awkwardly creating space between them, their cheeks painted a deep crimson. I can't help but chuckle at the sudden shift in atmosphere.

Peter's P.O.V.

"Do you trust me?" Bea asks, her eyes gleaming with mischief and the kind of excitement that promises adventure.

"Without a doubt," I reply, feeling my heart race in my chest like a wild drumbeat.

"On the count of three, we jump," she declares, determination etching her features into an expression of fierce resolve.

"One," she begins, her voice calm, slicing through the tension that hangs in the air like a thick fog.

"Two," I echo, adrenaline surging through my veins, electrifying every nerve and heightening my senses.

"Three!" We both shout in unison, and as if propelled by an unseen force, I launch myself off the edge into the open expanse of blue sky. Exhilaration floods through me, a rush that makes everything else fade away. But as I plummet toward the water, a sudden jolt of dread shoots through me—Bea hasn't jumped. "Bea!!!!!" I scream, panic clawing at my throat as I plunge headfirst into the cool abyss below.

The water envelops me like a frigid embrace, the shock hitting me like a slap to the face. The coldness steals my breath momentarily, and I thrash against the current that greedily pulls me downstream. I kick my legs furiously, fighting against the pressure that wants to keep me submerged. As my head breaks the surface, gasping for air, I catch sight of a rocky island looming nearby, and desperation drives me to swim harder. I reach the rugged outcrop just as Petro extends a sturdy arm to pull me up, his grip firm and reassuring.

"What took you so long?" Wanda teases, her laughter ringing out like a joyful melody that dances in the air.

"Uh, you know, just had to wait for the rest of the crew," I stammer, attempting to sound nonchalant, though I can feel my cheeks flushing.

"Sure, sure. Nothing to do with you and Bea getting cozy up there," Petro quips, pointing back towards the cliff with a mischievous smirk that makes my heart race for another reason. I glance up just in time to see Bea soaring off the edge, her form slicing through the air with the grace of a dancer, nearly ethereal as she navigates the space between sky and water.

"We saw everything," Wanda adds, her laugh brightening the atmosphere and making my embarrassment intensify.

"Hey, Vis!" I call out, spotting Vision gliding down to join us, his expression calm and serene, as if the chaos of our antics were nothing but a gentle breeze passing by.

"Hello," Vision replies, settling beside Wanda with a soft smile that lights up his face. I watch as Bea surfaces from the depths, droplets shimmering on her shoulders like jewels, her hair cascading around her in a silky waterfall, catching the sunlight. She swims toward us with an effortless grace, a playful grin lighting up her features.

"What's going on?" she asks, mischief dancing in her eyes as she draws closer.

"Nothing," I reply, trying to sound casual, although my voice betrays me, laced with an undertone of fluster.

She meets my gaze, and a knowing smirk plays at the corners of her lips, making my cheeks burn hotter.

"So, I see you chose the green halter neck bandage Brazilian bikini," Wanda observes, her gaze playful and appraising as it dances over Bea's stylish choice.

"And you're absolutely rocking the black bandage scallop hem bikini," Bea replies, her tone teasing and light, sparking an infectious energy in the air.

"Absolutely, and I love it—thank you!" Wanda beams, her enthusiasm radiating warmth. "Vis helped me pick it out."

"He did?" Bea asks, raising an eyebrow in surprise, glancing at Vision with an impressed look.

Vision's gaze drops, a hint of pink dusting his cheeks as our laughter erupts, shattering the tension and weaving a familiar camaraderie among us. The atmosphere is thick with warmth and friendship, a reminder of the incredible bonds we share—the kind that makes moments like this feel like treasures. I can't help but feel incredibly lucky to share this unforgettable day with such amazing friends.
