Chapter Two
22:17, 11 August 2015"Okay, guys, this is the major moment of our lives. This will change everything we know," Keefe spoke softly. "Now, GIMME MY SCROLL I CALL DIBS ON OPENING MINE FIRST!"
Sophie let out a awkward cough but quickly cleared her throat after a moment. They all looked at her, confused, but she waved them off. "We all agreed to opening them up at the same time, Keefe."
"Aww, don't be like that, Foster. Plus, me and Fitz have a bet for who will be number one on our lists." Fitz shoved Keefe, and Keefe shoved him back.
Sophie let out an awkward chuckle. "Whatever. . . Open our scrolls on the count of three? And read from the bottom to the top."
"Deal," Fitz said with a grin, before looking at Keefe with a smirk.
Okay, nod if you're okay to open your mind because I need to tell you something, Sophie transmitted to Biana. Biana nodded and Sophie let out a sigh. When I peaked at my list Keefe came out as my first choice, she told her.
Wow, that's awesome. You two would make an awesome couple. Did you see my brother on the list? Biana said, looking at her.
Sophie shook her head. No, but I only saw the first ten names. . . Maybe he's lower on the list? She sent, biting her lip.
Well, we're about to find out. Biana shrugged, before looking at the boys, who were looking at the two in annoyance. Sophie sighed, and exited Biana's mind.
"Ladies, if you have anything to say, just say it out loud. I'm sure Fitz won't mind you gossiping about me," Keefe joked.
Biana rolled her eyes. "Okay. 1. . . 2. . . 3."
They all went to open their scrolls. "Wait!" Sophie shouted, standing up.
"What?" Fitz asked.
"I forgot to hail Dex. He said he couldn't come because he had to help his dad clean up Slurps, but we should still make it so he's kind of with us," she explained, before taking out her Imparter and hailing Dex.
"Hey Sophie, what do you want?" He answered immediately.
"We're opening our matchmaking lists right now," she explained.
"Awesome, I already opened mine. Don't hang up, I'll listen while I clean.
"Okay," Sophie said, placing the Imparter on the table in front of them. "Okay, now!"
They all dove back into their scrolls.
"Eww, Stina's on my list," Keefe said with a scrunched up nose. "Wait. . . She doesn't even have an ability!"
"Her parents probably pulled some ties to get her on guys with abilities lists," Fitz explained, "because she's on my list too."
Sophie grinned at them and her eyes widened.
Number 56- Dexter Dizznee
Holy crap, she though. He's basically my cousin. . .
They all continued to look through their lists. "Hey, Sophie, you're on here," Fitz said, looking at his list. "My number 23."
She smiled softly at him, before looking back at her list. Should I tell him he's my number 30? She thought.
She sighed when she saw the name of a boy she had about three dates with when she was in Level 5 was her number ten. "Cael Evangelos is on my list," she said with a frown.
"That jerk?" Biana scoffed.
"Did you go out with him last week?" Fitz asked her.
"Yeah, and he asked me what the chances are of him going back out with Sophie," she muttered.
"Yeah, he's in the Foster fan club," Keefe explained. "It's actually a real thing now, and I'm still president."
"Who's in it?" Biana asked with a teasing grin.
"Jensi, his weird friends, Cael, Dex, Fitz, and this guy named Zeb. His parents own the jewelry shop that you love," he said to her.
Sophie's cheeks flared bright red. "I went out with Zeb when I was Level 8," Sophie said. "I just didn't tell you all."
"Okay, enough talking, I want to finish my list," Keefe said, looking back at it. "And the lucky number one iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-" he drew out his words as his finger traced the paper, but when his finger stopped his eyes widened. "Hey, Foster, you're my number 1!"
She bit her lip. "Yeah. . . You're my number two."
"Awesome," he said jokingly. He looked at Fitz and a large grin appeared on his face. "Fitz, we had a deal."
Fitz sighed. "Go ahead."
Keefe pumped his arms before stopping and standing on his chair. He started shouting, but his voice was mimicking Fitz. "MY NAME IS FITZ VACKER AND MY FAVORITE COLOR IS PINK AND I LOVE UNICORNS AND MY LITTLE SISTER DRESSES ME EVERY MORNING BUT MY MOMMY BUYS ME ALL MY CLOTHES FOR ME!" He stepped down from his chair and changed his voice back to his normal one. "And that's what I'm going to say when I go to Atlantis tomorrow with my dad."
"Why are you going to Atlantis?" Sophie asked, ignoring the bit about him embarrassing Fitz.
"I need an elixir and my dad doesn't want me to just go and have Dex make me one, he wants to be all prim and proper and actually buy one." He rolls his eyes.
"Speaking of me, I've got to go," Dex called from the Imparter. "Bye guys." They all said goodbye before his face disappeared.
"Have you talked to your mom?" Sophie asked Keefe, a sad smile on her face.
He shook his head. "No," he told her with a frown on his face. "We just got back to being able to stay in the same room together without me threatening her."
Sophie nodded. "Yeah, it's weird not thinking about Neverseen trying to kill me. Which reminds me, I have to go tell Mr. Forkle about my list tomorrow."
"How is Old Mr. Wrinkles?" Keefe grins.
She rolled her eyes at the nickname Keefe gave him when she was a Level 6. "He's good. He's gone undercover in the Forbidden Cities again to watch over my family just in case and he says my little sister has a boyfriend now."
"I forgot you used to have a sister," Fitz said. "You must know my pain then."
Sophie let out a laugh. "Nope. You don't know true sibling pain because you and Biana actually get along. Amy and I were sworn enemies."
"Amy? I thought her name was Ashley," Keefe frowned.
"Better than me. I thought her name was Brittany." Fitz grinned.
"Yeah, but I remember her initials were ARF because of that one time-"
"That I told you," Sophie said, eyes wide.
"So, did the council contact you about being a keeper?" Fitz asked, placing his scroll on the table. Everyone followed suit.
"No but there are people who are sending in complaints to the council about not doing it so I'm pretty sure it's going to happen soon," she said with a wide grin.
"Did you know some people are actually trying to make them have you be a council member?" Keefe said.
"Yeah but council members can't be married and I plan to be married one day. . . In the future. Way in the future," She said with a shrug.
"I think they should just avoid that for you," Biana said. "You're the most powerful elf ever. They should be begging you to come to them, married or not."
Sophie's cheeks turned red. "...Thanks."
