Elena's POV

"Oscar you shouldn't have bought the groceries, I told you I had it." I say as I put away the cereal and snacks in the pantry.

"I wanted to help out." He says while carrying Mia.

"I know pero I had my bras and calzones in there." I say embarrassed.

He laughs and walks towards me. He holds my chin up and smiles.

"Nothing I haven't seen before, mami." He says.

He starts to lean in again but someone clears their throat. My dad.

"Don Eduardo." Oscar says as he gives him the nod.

"Oscar." My dad says. "It's been a while."

"Yeah, it has."

There was awkward tension. I clear my throat as I put away the plastic bags under the sink.

"Dad, I'm going over to Oscar's place." I say now taking Mia in my arms. "I'll be back later, I already some groceries sooo"

"Yeah, just be careful." He says as he kisses Mia's cheek.

"Damn, so you guys really do have a daughter, hu?" Javier says as he carries Mia. Omar sits next to him as he gently pinches her cheeks and holds her little hand in his.

"Yup, pretty much." I say as I look at Oscar who is fixing the damn scooter her bought her.

"So how old is Mia?" Omar asks.

"She's going to be 12 months in a couple of days." I say.

"Oh shit, you about to be one little mamas." Omar says now taking her away from Javier.

"Damn foo, I haven't even carried her for more than 5 minutes and you already taking her away from me." Javie says.

"Well you can carry her once she starts crying." Omar says as he walks away from her.

We were all sitting out in front of Oscar's place. Kari, Sad Eyes (Tito), Jenny, Javier, Dalia, Omar and I. It was days like these that I always missed when I was away. Us hanging out while Oscar was trying to fix his car. Just to keep him company so nothing happens to him.

Now we were all hanging out so they can meet Mia for the first time and Oscar was fixing her scooter.

"You planning on staying or you leaving again?" Javie asks. He earns a slap in the arm from Jenny as she glares at him. "What? It's an honest question, not tryingto be rude."

"No, I get it." I say. "I'm planning on staying. She needs her dad in her life but i'm going to try and keep her away from all of this." I say as I motion around us. "I don't think it's safe for her."

They nod their head in understanding.

"Don't worry hermanita, we're gonna keep her safe for as long as we live." Sad Eyes says which bring s a smile to my face. Javier and Omar nod their heads in agreement.

"It's all done." Oscar says as he rolls the scooter towards us.

"Aw look mami, your own scooter." I get up from my chair as Omar hands her to me so I can put her down on the scooter.

"Aw, she's so cute!" Dalia says as Mia holds on to the handles as I hold her from behind.
