Chapter 34; Announcement

10:57, 23 August 2013

*ALICIA POV*

“Are you serious?” I asked in shock. How can I be pregnant? I have been on birth control for years!

“Yes, your blood test concludes that you are pregnant,” he confirmed.

Tears began streaming down my face. I’m NOT ready to become a mother. Not to mention, I’m not exactly sure who the father is. Maybe if I find out how far along I am, I can figure it out.

“We have to take you to the ultrasound technician’s room so we can see your baby,” he said as he led me down a hallway.

We wound up in a room with a monitor and he motioned for me to lay down on a table type thing.

“Did you not know you were expecting,” he asked.

“No, not at all. I missed a few periods, but I have a stressful job.  Besides, I am on birth control,” I explained.

“That is very strange, but the pill is not 100% guaranteed to prevent pregnancy. If you missed a day, that could be why you conceived,” he said.

“I guess,” I mumbled.

“Okay so we will have a look at your baby,” he said as he put some jelly on my stomach and a scanner thing.

I looked on the monitor and there I saw a little baby. My heart melted a little bit.

“By the looks of it, you are about 9 weeks pregnant,” he explained. “We will set your due date for April 22nd.”

“What about my job?” I asked.

“Well you will clearly have to take time off because of the pregnancy. As far as returning after, I say wait 3 or 4 months until after the baby is born. If you choose to return,” he said.

“Okay,” I said with a sigh.

“We will need you to come back in a few weeks and we may be able to determine the sex at that time,” he said as he handed me some sonograms.

“Thanks Doctor Richards,” I said as I left the office.

I got in my car and began to sob violently. I’m nowhere near ready to have a child

Our next show is in New  York, so I had a short drive from Jersey.

First of all, I really needed to call Phil and Seth. I decided on calling Phil first.

The phone rang for a few seconds and then he picked up;

P-Hello?

A- …Hey

P-What’s up?

A- We need to have a serious talk?

P- What’s the matter?

A- I don’t want to tell you over the phone. Can we meet up somewhere?

P- Well I’m still in Jersey…

A- Do you want to come over?

P- Is it that serious?

A- Yes.

P- I’ll be over in an hour.

A- Okay sounds good. Bye

P- Bye.

I drove back to my house an anxiously awaited Phil’s arrival. I was a mess.

I heard a knock about 45 minutes after I had gotten home. I opened the door to see Phil with a look of concern on his face.

“Come sit down,” I said softly as I walked into the living room. He sat down next to me and rested his hand on my thigh.

“Please tell me what is wrong,” he pleaded.

“I went to the doctors today for my annual physical,” I began.

“Is something wrong? Are you sick?” he asked.

“I’m pregnant,” I blurted out. His eyes got really big and he looked shocked.

“But I thought you were on the pill?” he asked.

“The doc said it isn’t 100% guaranteed,” I said quietly.

“We will get through this together. I will be a part of our child’s life,” he assured me.

“Wait Phil, there’s more,” I admitted.

“What?” he asked.

“I’m not sure if you are the father,” I blurted out.

“What do you mean?” he asked with a hint of anger.

“Well after we broke up in Paris, Seth took me out on a date. After the date, I sorta spent the night,” I admitted.

“So it could be his kid?” he asked angrily.

“I have no idea. I am 9 weeks pregnant and we went to Paris a little over 2 months ago. You do the math,” I snapped.

“I didn’t mean to upset you,” he said. “Are you still seeing Seth?”

“No, I told him I wasn’t ready for a relationship,” I said.

“Oh. Does he know about this?” he asked.

“No. I’ve only told you so far,” I said.

“Just know that if it’s mine, I’ll support you 200%,” he assured me.

I began crying and Phil held me for a long time. Phil left a little while later and I invited Seth over.

When he came over I explained everything to him.

“I care a lot about you,” he said. “Even if this baby isn’t mine, I will take care of you.”

“Thanks Seth,” I said as I kissed his cheek.

He placed a hand on my tiny stomach and said, “Consider this a blessing.”

“How?” I asked.

“Because there is an old saying, ‘Good things come when you least expect it’,” he explained.

Seth and I talked for a while before he left also. I now had to make the dreaded phone call to my boss.

The phone rang several times before Paul picked up.

P- Hello?

A- Hi Paul, it’s Alicia.

P- What can I do for you?

A- I have some unexpected news.

P- Well what is it?

A- I went to the doctors today and found out that I’m pregnant.

P- Good for you. How far along?

A- 9 weeks. I didn’t find out until today, major shock.

P- How do you want to go out?

A- Can I make an address to the fans on Monday and relinquish my title?

P- Anything for you kid.

A- Thank you.

P- How much time are you taking off?

A- About a year. I definitely want to return to wrestling after the baby is born.

P- There will always be a spot on the roster for you.

A- Thank you so much Paul.

P- No problem. See you Monday.

*Several Days Later*

Tonight was the night that I was going to tell the world that I am pregnant. I’ve been pretty mum about the whole situation. My sister was thrilled when I told her.

I put on a white dress that fit my body well, yet wasn’t too tight. It had a cute heart cut out in the back. I added a black belt to amp up the look. I paired the dress with black sparkly peep toe pumps.

I straighted my hair and let my bangs fall naturally. I grabbed my title and headed for gorilla.

“Good luck out there,” Seth whispered as he passed by.

I heard my music and walked out of the curtain. “Please welcome, WWE Diva’s Champion, Alicia,” Justin Roberts announced.

I walked down the ramp and up the steel steps leading into the ring. I entered through the middle rope and grabbed a mic.

“How is everyone doing tonight in beautiful NYC?” I asked.

The fans cheered really loud and chanted my name.

“So I just wanted to come out here and thank you for supporting me these last four years,” I said. “I feel like I’ve grown up in front of all of you.”

“With that being said, I have an announcement,” I declared.

“I recently found out that I am pregnant,” I shared.

The crowd went wild. No one was expecting it I guess.

“Now obviously, I cant wrestle while I’m pregnant,” I began. “Which means, I have to relinquish the Diva’s title.”

The fans booed at the idea of me not being champion.

“So this is not goodbye forever, it is goodbye for now. I will hopefully be back in  a year,” I shared.

“I’ve had an amazing run as champ, and I will regain it soon enough.” “Thank you for everything.”

I held up my title one last time as the fans cheered loudly. My music hit and I walked backstage.

I tried to hold it together, but I couldn’t. I felt a set of hands wrap around my waist…
