You were staring at your hands on your lap. Completely zoned out of the world. The only thing you saw and heard was an explosion. The ringing in your ears hadn't stopped since that moment.

A little nudge from your right woke you up from your thoughts. Lifting up your head, you saw everyone looking at you. Tilting your head slightly, you looked at every one of them for a while.

"What?" You asked. When nobody answered, you arched your eyebrow, looking at Steve, who was in charge of the meeting.

He sighed, moving his hands to rest on his hips, and looked down, closing his eyes for a moment. "I know you are not happy right now with everything that happened, but it wasn't your fault. I don't want you blaming yourself." He looked up at you with soft eyes. "And, please, just pay a little bit of attention for now."

You smiled, even though it wasn't a sincere smile. "Roger that, Rogers." You saluted lazily and got comfortable in your chair.

As always, you zoned out again, not hearing a word at the meeting. After 40 long minutes, it finally came to an end. Everybody started getting up and leaving the room. You grabbed your phone from the table and looked at the hour. It was 7:30 PM. Getting up, you started heading to the destination you'd had in your mind for the last 40 minutes.

Getting in the elevator, you pressed the button for the first floor and leaned your body on the nearest wall. The doors almost closed, but then a hand came in between them. Looking up from the floor, you saw a red-head with a soft smile on her face.

"You wanted to get away without me?" She asked, smirking.

"I hoped, but I guess I can never get away from my little pain in my ass." You replied, smiling at her. She scoffed playfully and pressed the button for her floor.

She leaned her back on the opposite wall from you, putting her hands in her jacket pockets. "Are you going somewhere?"

"Maybe, why?" You asked, turning to face her with your body and looking at the spot on the floor between the two of you.

"And where are you going?" She asked, swinging her left leg lightly.

You looked at her with a small smirk. "Why would I tell you all of my secrets?"

She smiled, tilted her head, and shifted on her legs. "You know your secrets are safe with me." She replied. "And we both know you're so crazy about me that you just can't keep anything from me." she added in a slightly lower voice.

Your smirk grew a little bit. "Well, Romanoff, and I thought I was subtle." You pushed yourself off of the wall and stood straight. "But I have to break it up to you, you're not my lover number one."

She crossed her arms over her chest. "Wow, already cheating on me. Guess I should've known. Who's the lucky lady then?" She asked with a small smile, but looked at the floor, dragging her heel back and forth.

You put your hands in your leather jacket pockets. Smiling broadly, you said enthusiastically. "Alcohol."

She burst out in laughter. You could see how her shoulders relaxed. You guessed the meeting must've tired her as much as you. In the next moment, the elevator came to a stop.

"Well then, I guess we both cheated." She said smiling, then pushed herself off of the wall and started leaving. "See you later, hot-stuff." She threw over her shoulder with a wink.

You laughed lightly. "Later, Romanoff."

The doors closed and you leaned your back on the wall again, waiting for the elevator to reach the first floor. After a couple of minutes, you got out of the elevator and started heading to the door leading outside. Passing by the reception desk, you greeted a guard, whose name is Greg, and your brother Clint.

"Hey, guys, how are you doin' today?" You asked, smiling.

"You know, the same things every day." Greg replied, patting your arm.

"Bored." Said Clint, rounding the desk to come and hug you. "But not that much anymore." He added, pulling away with a smile.

"I'm glad I lightened up your mood then." You said with a small smirk.

His eyes sparkled. He clasped his hands together and started shaking his body on sides slightly. "I know a few other ways of how you could light up my mood."

"Oh, I don't doubt it." You replied, chuckling. "But not today." You added, causing him to whine.

"Come ooonn, these idiots don't know what a good prank is." He said, looking at you with puppy eyes and a small pout.

"No, no, tomorrow we will do the craziest shit we can think of, but not now, I'm going out."

He stood in front of you and next to Greg. "Where are you going?" He asked, looking at his phone. He looked up at you when you didn't say anything and after a second gave you an 'are you fucking serious?' face. "Don't get wasted."

"What?" You asked, honestly a little bit offended. "Who said I'm gonna get wasted?" He sighed, still looking at you. "And who even said I'm gonna go somewhere near alcohol?" At this, he looked at you like you had two heads.

"Y/n, I heard what happened, Bucky told me." He said with a serious face.

"Sooo? It doesn't mean I'm gonna drown myself or something. If I wanted to drown myself in alcohol, I would go to Bucky." You said with a 'duh' tone. "We always drown ourselves together." You replied with a twinkle in your eyes and smiling broadly, like a little kid on Christmas Day surrounded by an uncountable amount of presents.

"Yeah I know, the best duo of drinking-buddies." He replied, trying to be serious again, but smiled nonetheless.

"I know, right!" You said, excitedly. "I think me and Bucky should participate in some kind of drinking competition. We would make a lot of money."

He chuckled, looking back at his phone. "Masters of drinking alcohol, people." He said under his breath. Then looked back at you. "Just don't get wasted, wherever you're going."

"Well, I would say 'I promise', but I don't even know where and how I will end up tonight, so forgive me." You said with puppy eyes.

"How can you no- You know what, I'm not even surprised anymore." He replied, rolling his eyes and dropping his hands on his sides.

"Well, okay, I will try not to get wasted." You emphasized. You looked at your watch and saw it was already 7:50 PM. "Okay, Birdy, I'm gonna get going, see you later." You said, patting his shoulder.

"Yea, yea, later." He said, smiling.

"Bye, Greg." You said, passing Clint, heading to the door.

"Till next time." Greg replied.

When You were pushing the door open, you heard Clint yelling. "At least don't get yourself killed."

You turned around to look at him and shouted back. "You say it like it's even possible." You smiled broadly at him and turned back around.

——

After a while of wandering around the city and sitting on the bench in the park, inhaling fresh air, and watching birds, you decided to go to a place where you could finally relax.

You got up and started going to your next destination. It took you 10 minutes to reach the small bar. You used to come here after every mission in the past. Now you came here when you felt like you needed to relax or just drink something to ease your mind.

Sitting on the stool on the bar counter, you lifted up your hand. In the next second, a pretty, brown-haired bartender came to your view.

"What can I get you?" She asked, looking at you with a smile.

"Whisky, please." You replied. She nodded, then started to pour your drink. She handed it to you and excused herself, hearing another client calling her.

You took a drink in your hand and sipped a little bit. Putting it down, you started thinking about what had happened the day before. Everything came crashing to you. You got frustrated with yourself for not being faster, better. For being sloppy. You could've done more, but everything had gone to shit in seconds. You lifted the drink back to your lips and downed it at once. You lifted your other hand while putting the glass back on the counter. The bartender came back with the same smile.

"Another one?" She asked.

"Yup." You replied, smiling back at her. At this, her smile broadened and she started filling your glass.

"Here you go." She said, leaning forward a little bit, and pushing the, now filled, glass in your direction. "If you need anything, just call me." She added with a wink. Then pulled back and went back to pouring drinks for others.

You took the glass again, sipping the alcohol slowly. When you almost downed your second drink after a while, the bartender came back.

"I'm guessing you want another?" She said, smiling again.

"You know, I will make it easier for you and just take a whole bottle." You replied, looking at her. "You won't have to refill my glass every 10 seconds."

"I don't mind refilling your glass." She replied with a small smirk. "But if you insist, here it is.". She handed you a whole bottle of whisky. "Just don't forget, if you want anything, I'm here to help." She added, brushing her fingers on mine.

You opened the bottle and poured yourself a drink. Then another, and another, and another. Despite the amount of alcohol you consumed, you didn't feel any effect. You could handle alcohol pretty well and you were always happy about it. After a while, the same bartender stood in front of you, still behind the bar.

"Having fun?" She asked.

"You can't even imagine." You replied with a smirk. "Alcohol is a really nice companion, don't you think?" You asked.

She smiled, shook her head to the side, removing her hair from her face, and leaned on the bar counter, looking at your drink, down at you, and then back at your face. She crossed her arms and leaned on marble, stabilizing her position.

"I think I can think of better options." She said, looking down at you briefly and again back to your eyes.

"Really?" She nodded. "And what would that be?" She looked down at your drink, taking it from your hand, and twirling the glass around on the counter.

"You know, I can't tell you everything I know at once." She lifted up the glass to her lips, taking a sip. "But if you're curious, I'll let you find out." She added, putting the glass back down and in your hand. "How does my offer sound?" She asked, trailing her index finger on your bicep.

"Tempting." You replied slowly, sipping my drink. "But I think I need a little bit more time to consider this." You trailed off, looking down at her, and back to her eyes. "Offer." You ended with a smile and sipped your drink again.

"Time is not a problem." She said in a sultry tone, leaning in more.

You were about to say something back when you felt someone putting a hand on your shoulder, and sitting on the stool next to mine. You looked to your right and saw a familiar face.

"Hope to see you later." The bartender said and walked away.

"Hmm, I see you have fun here." The person took your drink and lifted it up to her lips. "Thought you would drink more than that, I think you're getting worse at your discipline." She said with a smirk.

"You know, it goes better with the company." You replied, taking your glass from her hand, putting it down on the counter, and refilling it again.

"Oh, but you had company." She said, looking down, watching the dark liquor filling your glass.

"And who was it?" You asked, taking another sip.

"Are you trying to tell me that that bartender didn't just take a sip from your glass a couple of minutes ago?" She replied with a slight tilt of her head.

You smiled, looking down. "There's a difference between taking a sip from someone's glass and drinking with them, Nat." You said and looked up, tilting your head. "You wanna try? We can have a double date with our number one lovers." You added and she smiled at you, sliding her hand in your direction and, again, taking your drink.

She took a long sip, all the time looking at you. "You wanna get a drinking buddy or just get me drunk?" She asked, putting the glass down and drumming her fingers on the counter, still looking at you.

You smirked. "It depends."

"On what?"

"If you wanna get drunk, and if you are good enough to handle alcohol like me." You smirked again. "You know, I'm pretty good at that."

She mirrored your smirk, leaned forward, and whispered in your ear. "Just don't get upset when you get drunk first. And who knows what kind of ideas I might get when you do." She pulled back with an innocent smile and signaled the bartender for a drink.

——

You had been drinking for about an hour, maybe two. Who counts. You got pretty drunk, but not to the point of stumbling. Your postures were stable, though your minds got a little fuzzy.

You downed a few more drinks, talking and laughing. Drinks started to disappear faster, and in the next moment, our fifth bottle was empty. Your postures not so stable anymore.

She was giggling and leaning forward. When she almost slipped from her stool, you caught her and stood from yours. You wobbled a little bit but caught yourself.

"Ookay, I think we should go back." You slurred. She started giggling even more.

"You got drunk, loser." She slurred as well with a lazy smirk, trailing her index finger on your torso.

"Not only me, I thought you would handle it better, considering you're Russian." You teased her.

She looked up at you with determination in her eyes. "You wanna see handling alcohol?" You nodded. "Then let's go, I'm gonna show you how I can handle alcohol." She said, grabbing your hand and making her way to the door. "Tony will go bankrupt in seconds." You laughed, following her.

You got outside, both stumbled a little bit, but you could walk properly.

"You're gonna cry when I'm done." She said to you.

"If you think you're better than me, then better think again, Romanoff." You replied, just as determined as her.

She scoffed. "Ooh please, you are not a competition. It will be easy." She said and then stumbled, falling a little bit to your side. My body stabilized her posture and prevented her from falling. "See, you can barely walk, Barton."

You started chuckling, she joined you after a couple of seconds. "Yeah, I can see that." You replied, still chuckling.

"Told you." She said shortly, continuing looking ahead.

——

When you got to the Tower, you went straight to the floor where the bar was. You took some bottles and moved to the living area. Then you sat on the couch and opened the first one.

"If you lose." You trailed off, you looked at the bottle, then ahead of you, furrowing your eyebrows, then back at her, and smiled. "You will give me your favorite knife for the next 5 missions." You said, proud of yourself.

She narrowed her eyes at you, then shook her head slightly and smirked. "Deal." You beamed at her like a little kid. Your smile almost breaking your face. But it disappeared when she added. "But if you lose, you will give me your favorite gun for a week and let me drive your car three times, whenever I ask you for it." You were about to say something, when she added again, lifting up her index finger. "And wherever I want to."

It was your turn to narrow your eyes at her. She didn't stop smirking at you, while you tried hard to make the right decision.

"If you don't want to bet, you can just admit that you lost." She said, taking a sip of her drink, still smirking.

You scoffed. "I am not gonna do that."

"So deal?" She asked.

You were looking at her for a little longer and then. "Deal." She extended her hand for you to shake. "But if you scratch it, I swea-" You started, but she cut you off.

"Ugh I know, I know. Now, seal the deal." She said, wiggling her fingers a little bit.

You shook hands and got to the drinking

——

"Do you remember that time when Tony took us on holiday?" She said. "The number of times Clint tried to learn snowboarding and failed was amazing."

"Yeah, I do." You said. "Me and Bucky had to help him stand up after, like thirtieth time."

"You were so annoyed with him that you made him go and find an instructor." She added, chuckling.

"Ooh that, that is something I don't regret." You replied, smiling. "That brunette was so hot."

"Yeah, I guess she was." She said, looking ahead and bringing a bottle to her lips, taking a longer sip of alcohol.

You threw your head back, looking at the ceiling. "I thought that Clint ruined my chances of getting with her. But I met her at the bar, and that night went just right." You said smirking to yourself.

When you didn't hear any reply, you looked back at Nat and saw her looking at the bottle in her hands. She looked like she just zoned out.

"Oi, Romanoff, are you already drunk?." You said. "Guess I get that knife of yours now." You added, smirking again.

She raised her head back up and looked at you. "Not a chance, I'm not drunk yet. And I'm sure that it will not be long before you get drunk."

"We will see." Was your reply.

——

After an hour, you both were wasted. You didn't think about the deal at that moment, you were just talking and laughing. Remembering old missions. How Clint had slipped out from the railing and dropped to the snow, from a relatively high floor, face first. You were on your third bottle and currently standing in front of the sofa, trying to see who could get on the chandelier. What for? Who knows, and the fact that it was fucking impossible, considering the height of the ceiling, didn't stop you. Cause still, you tried.

"You are that tall and still can do nothing with it." Nat said, smirking at you.

"And you're so small that I don't even know why you're still trying. You can't reach the middle cabinets in the kitchen, chandelier is totally different level." You teased back, emphasizing word level to tease her even more.

And there it was again. Determination in her eyes. You didn't know why, but you liked to tease her just to see her trying to do something she couldn't do in a million years.

"Oh, you're on." She started climbing on the table, stumbling a little, but catching herself. Then she looked down at you, again with that smirk. "You'll see, you're gonna lose. And when you do, I'll let myself take your gun."

Your eyes widened and you lifted your eyebrows. You pointed a finger at her and said. "Oh, no, no, no, this wasn't the bet on the gun, lady. You can't take it, even if you somehow reach that shit dangling under the ceiling."

She smirked, bending down a little. "What? Are you scared that you will lose your precious toy?" She said, looking straight into your eyes. You narrowed your own.

"Not at all. I don't think it's possible for a dwarf to reach that." You said pointing at the chandelier and continued. "Not even if you call the rest of your six brothers." You smiled at her broadly, crossing your arms over your chest.

She clenched her jaw, probably wanting to say something insulting back. But when she was about to open her mouth, she stood up abruptly, causing her to lose her balance and fall forward from the table. Luckily, she fell in your direction, so you could catch her. You both stumbled on the couch, considering your states, it was unlikely for you not to do this. Your back hit the back of the sofa with Nat landing half next to you and half on you. You groaned and looked down at her to see if she was okay. She was laughing and you started to do the same.

"What the fuck was that?" You asked, chuckling.

"You should've seen your face." She said, laughing. "It was fucking hilarious."

She looked up at you and her laughter started to fade away. Yours followed the suit. You stayed like that for a couple of seconds. And the next second. You didn't know what exactly happened, but you felt her lips on yours. Her lips were soft. Her hands flew to your cheeks and yours to her waist. You started slowly, at first it was soft and gentle. After a while, Nat shifted and straddled you. You grabbed her waist tighter and pulled her closer to you. The kiss became more passionate and a little bit rough. You bit her lip, making her gasp.

You used this opportunity to put your tongue in her mouth. She moaned quietly in response as one of her hands went to the back of your neck and the other started traveling down your torso, then under your t-shirt. You grabbed her hips, pulling her even closer, and making her moan again. After a while, she started grinding on you a little bit, eliciting a groan from you.

You broke the kiss to catch your breaths. But you reconnected your lips almost the same second. Few minutes passed and you felt her hand, which was under your t-shirt, going in the direction of your pants, scratching your abdomen with her nails on the way. She bit your lip, pulled it a little with her teeth, and released it with a pop before she looked you in the eyes.

"Are you sure you wanna do this?" You asked her, looking back into her eyes.

"You have no idea." She replied. You were looking into each other's eyes for a little longer, searching for any hint of uncertainty. When you found none in hers, you crashed your lips again. You started getting up without breaking the kiss. Nat tangled her arms around your neck and her legs around your waist. You made your way to the elevator, stumbling a little bit, but you managed somehow. The last thing you remembered was getting in, then all the rest became one big blur.

——

Light slipping between the curtains made you stir awake. You closed your eyes tightly and tried to rub the sleep off of them. After a few seconds, you started to open them slowly just to close them back immediately when a killing headache hit you. You groaned internally, laying on your back with your eyes closed. You tried to remember anything from the night before.

Then, you heard an audible inhale from beside you. You turned your head and again, tried to open your eyes. When you managed to do it, you were met with a red-head, who was turning in your direction. When your sleepy eyes met, at first you didn't say anything. And in the next second everything dawned on you. Your eyes widened before you looked down at her body and even though she was covered in sheets, you could tell she was naked. You looked back at her face and she had the same expression.

"I-I, you-, we-, I mean-, we did, didn't we?" You stuttered and wanted to slap yourself across the face for that.

"Um, yeah, I guess we did." She replied, more calmly than you.

You opened your mouth to say something but closed it right after. You sat up, covering your body with sheets, and cleared your throat.

"I, uh, If you don't mind, could you, you know, turn around, so I can put some clothes on?" You asked carefully.

She looked at you with an unreadable expression on her face. She nodded slowly and started turning around. When you knew she couldn't see you, you got up, went to your closet, and put on your underwear.

"Do you-" She cleared her throat. "Do you remember anything from last night?" She asked you, still lying in the same spot.

"The last thing I remember is that we came back and took some bottles of alcohol from Tony's bar and that we made a bet on something." You replied slowly. "You can turn back if you want." You said, putting on your trousers.

She turned around slowly, then sat up with her back on the headboard, covering herself with the sheets. She was looking ahead with a blank expression.

"Do you remember anything?" You asked.

She glanced at you briefly and rubbed her eyebrows with her palms.

"No, not really." She replied and looked down at the sheets. Her fingertips playing with it.

"I'm gonna go to the bathroom, so you can put some clothes on." You said, taking your t-shirt from the floor and slowly heading towards the bathroom door. "When you're ready, let me know."

"Okay." She said.

You got to the bathroom, closing the door behind you. You looked in the mirror and winced. How could you have been so stupid. You should've listened to Clint this one fucking time. Maybe if you had listened, you wouldn't be here now, standing and thinking about how you slept with one of your closest friends, your teammate.

Sure, you'd been flirting with each other since the day you met, but it was always just flirting. Nothing more. Fucking hell, what had you done. You had slept with her. She was there in your bedroom. Getting dressed. God knows what she was thinking. Probably thought you-

"Okay, you can come out." She called out.

You made your way to the door. You closed your eyes and sighed. You opened the door and stepped into your bedroom. She was standing at your bed's foot with one arm around her stomach and the other caressing her cheek.

"So, we probably, uh, should talk about." You trailed off, making circles with your index finger. "This."

"Yeah, we probably should." She replied, looking at you.

"I mean, we don't have to make a big deal out of it, right?" You said carefully, smiling a little. "We weren't thinking and we were really drunk." You tried to justify your actions.

"Right." She replied and looked down. "Drunk."

"We don't have to mention it, it was just a mistake." At that moment, you internally winced at your words. You sounded like a typical dickhead.

She smiled and folded her arms over her chest, looking up at you again. "Yeah, I guess we shouldn't drink together anymore." She said and when you looked at her, she added. "At least not that much. We don't want to make another mistake."

When she emphasized that word, you wanted to slap yourself for saying that in the first place. "I didn't me-" You started to say, but she cut you off

"I'll better get going, I have some paperwork to finish and a meeting with Fury. Don't want to keep him waiting." She said, grabbing her jacket and making her way out of your room.

"Nat, it's no-" You tried again, but again she cut off.

"Like you said, we don't have to mention it. It was just a drunken mistake, nothing more, right?" Not giving you any chance to reply, she left your room, slamming the door.

You were standing in your room, feeling like the biggest jackass in the entire universe. Mistake. What the fuck was that. Why did you say that? You didn't blame her for getting angry for that. You were, or at least had been best friends, and you implied that she was a mistake. Fuck. You really fucked up. And you really needed to fix this. Nat was one of the most important people in your life, you'd known each other since she joined S.H.I.E.L.D and you didn't want to lose her. Not over something so stupid like that, just because you had gotten fucking drunk.

You really should've thought twice before getting wasted with your best friend.
