Chapter 91: Izuocha Vs class 1A part 2
22:39, 26 November 2019Iida wasted no time in closing the distance sprinting straight towards his classmates. He jumped into the air targeting Uraraka first aiming one of his downwards kicks at her. She knew it was no good trying to block it Iida's kicks mixed with his engines just made his attacks far too powerful to try and block. Her only option was to dodge and she did managing to side step his attack right at the very last second.
Damn he's fast I almost didn't get out of the way of that. If we want to beat him we're going to have to predict his movements just like Deku said. Stay one step ahead Ochako and we'll win this.
"Not bad Uraraka. I thought for sure I had you. You've improved greatly" Iida said coming to a stop now on the opposite side from where he'd started.
"Thanks. You too Iida" Uraraka said keeping her answer short and blunt making sure she didn't lose focus or drop her guard at any point.
That's weird I thought he was furious with us for keeping One for All a secret from him. He doesn't seem angry at all. In fact he seems calm and focused. This is going to be more difficult than I thought it'd be. No matter what happens though we'll find a way to win. That's what hero's do. Not only that but I can't let Deku down. I-
"Ochako look out!" Deku screamed pushing her out of the way. Iida had moved so fast she didn't even have time to react he was already right on top of her and was aiming a spinning kick straight at her head. Luckily for her though Deku had managed to push her out of the way in time and knowing the kick was coming he just about ducked under it and as he did everything seemed to move in slow motion.
Let's see if he jumped to do this attack than that means that his feet have to hit the floor any second now. Follow the trajectory of his foot and....there!
Deku crouched down and began a leg sweeping motion before Iida's feet had touched the floor. By the time Deku spun round with his leg outstretched along the ground Iida's foot landed on the ground only for it to be immediately swept by Deku's leg sweep.
"W-what!? How did-" Iida never finished his sentence as Deku used the momentum from his leg sweep to then stand and punch his class rep into the ground that he actually bounced off of it. As he did Uraraka grabbed a hold of him making him float and then threw him out of bounds.
"Another win!? What the hell is going on!?" Ashido screamed in confusion, admiration, excitement and annoyance all at once.
"Maybe you shouldn't underestimate the spirit or the drive that your classmates have. Midoriya and Uraraka are two of the most driven students in this class. I'm not saying any of you aren't but these two go above and beyond time and time again so don't be so surprised that they've beaten you all so far. Iida despite it being a short fight you did pretty well your only downfall was that Midoriya out thought you. As he has done with a majority of you here today. Midoriya excellent work saving your teammate and taking out your opponent in one move. Very impressive. Also well done Uraraka for stepping in and delivering the final blow before Iida had a chance to recover. Great teamwork once again" Mr Aizawa said.
"Thank you sir" Deku and Uraraka said in unison.
"Of course sir. I will only grow stronger from this defeat. As for you two..." Iida said turning to his two closest friends although these days his closest friend was probably Todoroki since they lived in the same house and Deku and Uraraka lived in their own with Eri so naturally they hardly saw each other apart from when they were at school. Deku and Uraraka were waiting to see what he was going to say expecting him to be angry in some way however quite the opposite happened.
"I wish you both luck with your remaining opponents. Look out for each other and I'm sure you'll both be victorious today. Good luck" Iida said bowing to them before returning to the rest of his classmates.
"I wasn't expecting that" Uraraka admitted a little surprised.
"Me neither. Although from the sounds of it he's either forgiven us or he's come to terms with it. That's not our problem right now anyway. We can talk to Iida afterwards right now we have to focus on whoever our next opponent is" Deku said not losing his concentration. Uraraka looked at him to see he was sweating all over and panting.
He's exhausted. He's been putting everything into every attack to make sure he actually did some damage or managed to pull it off. Without his quirk his attacks are much weaker and slower so he's had to put everything behind them to make sure they landed effectively and I don't think he's missed one yet which is impressive with a quirk so when he's not using one that just makes it even more breathtaking. Regardless he's struggling but still full of fight. Well so am I! We've won every fight so far and we're not about to lose now so bring it on!
"Ochako you ok? You seem really intense" Deku said noticing the look on her face and slightly concerned for her.
"It's nothing I'm fine. Let's do this!" she exclaimed punching her fist into the air. Deku couldn't help but smile and be admired by her passion. This was his fight she was there to support him but even still she was fired up and ready to do whatever it took to win.
"Yeah. Let's do this" Deku said waiting to see who their next opponent was.
There's only 3 people left. Yaoyorozu, Todoroki and Bakugo. Whoever it is I know we can win. With Ochako by my side I can't lose!
"Yaoyorozu you're next" Mr Aizawa said.
"Yes sir" she said standing up and approaching the two before readying herself in her fighting stance.
Our best chance is to rush her before she can make anything too big or powerful for us to go up against. She'll probably try to make those cannons that she usually does or at least one of them. We have to make sure she doesn't get the time of day to think or create anything that'll give her the edge.
"Begin" Mr Aizawa said and as he did Deku and Uraraka immediately charged full speed at their opponent. Yaoyorozu had been expecting to get charged down straight away so instead of making something overly big or powerful she made a long metal staff that she usually makes to fight with. As Deku and Uraraka closed the distance she slammed the staff into the floor then spun around on it to try and kick the pair of them. Deku and Uraraka saw it coming however and jumped back allowing her to spin all the way around in a circle on the staff before pulling it back out of the ground and holding it behind her back ready to fight. Uraraka made the first move trying to get inside Yaoyorozu's guard where she could get a good touch in but she was immediately pressed back by Yaoyorozu swinging her staff straight down at her causing her to dive out of the way. However before she could lift her staff up off the ground Deku had placed one of his feet on it and had managed to pin it to the floor. Yaoyorozu gave up on the staff letting go of it and jumping back just in time to avoid Deku's kick. She tried to make herself another one knowing she'd been careless with the first however before it could materialize Deku had managed to pick up the one she had abandoned and thrusted it straight into her stomach sending her flying out of bounds.
"How!? How did you do that?" Yaoyorozu asked confused and embarrassed that she'd been defeated so easily.
"The kick was just to set you up for the next attack. I knew you were too smart to cling onto your weapon and desperately try to lift it so I did a kick just to get you to jump back knowing that when you did I'd have a weapon to use myself. You couldn't go back too far because you were already pretty close to the boundary so your staff made it pretty easy to reach you and send you out of bounds" Deku explained.
"You thought of all that from the start?" she asked.
"No most of it was on the spot. I expected you to try and make something bigger or more powerful but you just made this staff. It was a smart choice thinking about it but in the end you utilize it well enough" Deku said throwing her the staff which she caught.
"Wow. You truly are amazing Midoriya. Good luck with your last two fights. But I feel like I should tell you that..." Yaoyorozu trailed off looking behind her to see Bakugo was watching on. She beckoned Deku to come closer. He did and as he did she whispered something in his ear.
"Ok. Thanks Yaoyorozu" Deku said taking in what she said and returning to his place alongside Uraraka.
"What did she say?" Uraraka asked curious as to what she couldn't say in front of everybody.
"Let's see who our next opponent is first" Deku said waiting to see if it was Bakugo or Todoroki next.
"What did she say? Is it important?" she asked again a little concerned that he wasn't telling her.
"Look you don't need to know until we fight Bakugo" Deku explained.
"What if he's next?" she asked.
"Then I'll tell you but if not then it can wait until we get past Todoroki. If we get past Todoroki that is" Deku said knowing that the only two classmates remaining were the two strongest.
"Todoroki. You're up" Mr Aizawa said. Todoroki stood up and walked to his starting position facing the two.
"Get past Todoroki and I'll tell you what Yaoyorozu told me but right now I need you focused on beating Todoroki" Deku said readying himself for what would definitely be their toughest fight yet.
"Ok Deku. We've got this" she said trying to reassure herself. Truth is she didn't know if they could compete with Todoroki. His quirk was going to make it near impossible for them to get close.
"Relax. We've got this" Deku said noticing her nerves. Surprisingly that was enough for her. Just hearing Deku's confidence and certainty that they'd win was enough for her to believe it.
"Yeah you're right. We can do this" Uraraka said readying herself for battle.
"Good luck you guys" Todoroki said. He was one of the few that hadn't judged Deku straight off the bat and had understood what he went through the moment he told everyone. He was calm and collected ready to fight the duo in front of him.
"Good luck to you too" Deku and Uraraka said in unison.
"Begin" Mr Aizawa said and as soon as he did Todoroki launched a thin wall of ice straight down the middle of the two splitting them apart.
"Deku!" Uraraka screamed staring on in awe at the wall of ice before her.
"Ochako!" Deku screamed back.
"Hang on I'll come to you!" Uraraka screamed making herself float and rising to the top of the wall of ice however once near the top a barrage of flames flew over head. She turned to see Todoroki on her side of the wall and sealing it up behind him leaving just him and her on one side and Deku alone on the other side.
"That was a warning shot. This one won't be however" Todoroki said preparing another flame attack. Uraraka quickly released herself just in time to fall to the ground avoiding the second barrage of flames.
Damn Todoroki is the first one to play it smart like this. Divide and conquer. Uraraka can't avoid his attacks forever and no way is she getting close enough to him to fight when she's only get half the arena to maneuver in. Come on Izuku think. Think. If I had my quirk I could jump over or just smash through but I can't use it otherwise we lose.
"Deku! I can't get to you he has me pinned down!" Uraraka called from the other side of the wall.
"I can't get to you either! There's no way I can climb over it or smash through it!" Deku called back. Todoroki launched ice at Uraraka this time but she just managed to jump out of the way in time.
"Well think of something! I don't know how much longer I can keep avoiding his attacks!" Uraraka screamed ducking under another barrage of flames.
Think damnit think! What can I do? How do I get to her? There's no way I can win on my own without my quirk. Wait a minute. Is that a weakened section?
Deku looked a little further down the wall to see it was starting to melt a little and looked weakened. In fact it had melted enough that he could see the silhouette of Todoroki through the ice.
Of course his flames are melting the ice when he attacks her with them! I just have to break through!
"Hang on Ochako I'm coming!" Deku called running right up to the boundary before turning to face the wall of ice and it's weakened section.
"Hurry!" she called back dodging his flames again. Deku began to sprint full speed towards the wall.
"He isn't doing what I think he's doing is he?" Kaminari asked.
"Oh he is" Kirishima said.
"Crazy bastard" Bakugo snarled.
"There's no way he'll break through without his quirk. He's lost it I think they're finally gonna lose" Kaminari said. Everyone went silent watching Deku sprint full speed towards the ice waiting in anticipation to see if he could really do it.
This has to work! I have to break through! In one go! Otherwise Todoroki will know what I'm up to. Come on Izuku. Go beyond.
"AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!" Deku screamed leaping at the wall with both legs tucked up to his chest ready to drop kick straight through the wall of ice right in it's weak spot.
"What the hell is he-" Todoroki began but he soon stopped seeing Deku smash straight through his wall of ice. He was completely shocked and confused how Deku had managed to break through in one attack without the use of his quirk.
"Get away from her damnit!" Deku screamed as his drop kick through the ice sent him flying towards Todoroki and both of his feet connected with Todoroki's face as he flew through the air. Todoroki was sent flying out of bounds and Deku skidded to a stop just before the boundary.
"No way!" Kaminari exclaimed completely shocked by what he'd just witnessed.
"I don't believe it! He broke clean through! In one go! Without his quirk!" Kirishima exclaimed in complete disbelief at what he was seeing.
"He didn't have to do Todoroki like that though. Poor guy" Kaminari said feeling a little empathetic for him.
"Well played Midoriya. I was so careless. Not to mention I completely underestimated your physical strength without your quirk" Todoroki said in admiration of his friend and also taking his loss gracefully.
"Thanks Todoroki but your flames were melting the ice away. It was a thin wall so when I found the weak spot it was pretty easy to break through. It just happened that you were stood on the other side of it" Deku admitted knowing he'd gotten a little lucky with where Todoroki had been standing.
"I see. I need to regulate the temperature of my attacks too not just my body. Thank you Midoriya. Good luck with your final opponent" Todoroki said eyeballing Bakugo sat waiting with an evil grin on his face.
"Thanks. I'm sure we can handle him. Right Ochako?" Deku asked turning to see his girlfriend however before he knew what was happening she'd dived at him and embraced him however he was tired and unprepared for her attack of affection so she ended up tackling him to the ground.
"Deku that was amazing! You saved me!" she screamed in awe of him and thankful that he'd saved her. She knew it was only training and Todoroki wouldn't have been trying to hurt too badly but even still he'd saved her.
"Oh it was nothing" Deku said his voice muffled as his face was being crushed by...by...
"Lucky bastard having his head between her boobs like that" Mineta whined earning him a punch across the face from Jiro.
"Shut your mouth you little creep" she ordered as Mineta flew across the gym floor. Thankfully Uraraka hadn't heard his comments although she did realise what was happening.
"Oh I'm sorry Deku" she said quickly lifting herself up so she wasn't crushing him but she was still lay on top of him albeit much more flustered and embarrassed now realising that everyone had just seen her with her cleavage pressed into Deku's face.
This is so embarrassing. That's not supposed to happen when we're in public. Wait no stop don't think about that now we still have to fight Bakugo. Focus Ochako focus.
"It's ok I just wasn't expecting you to dive at me like that" Deku said as she climbed off of him and held out her hand to offer him some help up off the floor. He took it and as she pulled him up off the floor the two of them accidentally pressed against each other now on their feet with their faces only inches apart. Uraraka giggled nervously completely forgetting where they were.
"Hey" she said her heart racing as Deku was so close to her.
"Hey" he replied trying but failing to hide his grin.
She's so close. I could just... just...
He began to slowly lean in and tilt his head closing his eyes. Uraraka did the same as they ever so slowly closed the distance between their lips. Just as they were about to kiss however they heard an explosion before the wall of ice in the arena started to collapse.
"W-what the hell?" Uraraka asked surprised by the sudden explosion. Of course there was only one person it could be. Sure enough as the wall of ice collapsed there stood Bakugo with a huge smirk on his face.
"If you two are quite done it's my turn to face you. I hope you're ready for a real fight you bastards" Bakugo said readying himself in his fighting stance.
"Now are you going to tell me what Yaoyorozu said?" Uraraka asked the two them still extremely close and face to face.
"Yeah that would probably be a good idea..."
