Shadows were looming high over the island of New Berk.

"Zeph, this is ridiculous," Nuffink whispered to his sister as they tiptoed down the stairs of their hut, followed by their dragons — Dart and Pouncer.

"You're telling me you're not even the slightest bit curious about dad's secret invention?" Zephyr wondered.

You see, Hiccup Haddock had spent months working on something in his den, any spare moment he had. He refused to tell anyone about it, even Astrid, and young Zeph could no longer contain her curiosity.

"Of course I am." Nuffink agreed. "But, sneaking out? Breaking into the den? Zeph, we're gonna get in trouble."

"Don't be such a fraidy cat." She rolled her eyes. "Go back to bed if you want. I'm going with or without you."

"Fine." Her brother sighed. "Someone has to keep you from breaking something."

The siblings snuck across the village and Nuffink kept a lookout while his sister picked the lock on the door.

"We're in." She announced, opening the door, allowing her brother to enter.

"How do you even know how to do that?" He wondered.

"Survival 101." She explained. "Now let's hurry." She sauntered over to her father's desk to find a rather strange-looking artifact. She pulled out her journal and began sketching. "What do you think it does?" She thought.

"It looks a little like the dragon eye II that dad wrote about in his journal." The blonde noticed.

"Yeah, well dad puts a Night Fury spin on everything." Zephyr chuckled as she reached for the object.

"Zeph, you promised you wouldn't touch anything!"

"Relax!" She suggested. "I just wanna see what it does."

"You know what dad's inventions are like. For all we know, you're about to set the entire building on fire. Or choke us all with Zippleback gas." Nuffink warned.

"It's not big enough for a gas canister. Even a small one." She told him. "Besides, there's no opening. How would he replace the canisters?"

"Look, you've seen it. Just put it down and let's get home before mom and dad wake up."

"Oh come on. It's not even finished, how much damage could it possibly do?" She thought.

"Are you even listening to yourself?" Nuffink shrugged as his sister tinkered with the device, twisting certain parts and pressing every button in sight. The device suddenly lit up on one end. The light surrounded both young teens and their dragons until suddenly all went black.

"Uh, Hiccup?" Tuffnut called from the door of the Dragon's Edge clubhouse. "When did it start raining people?"

"And dragons?" His sister added.

"What on earth are you talking about?" Hiccup wondered.

"They're talking about the kids and their dragons falling from the sky about to plummet into the ocean." Snotlout pointed. Fishlegs immediately grabbed Hiccup's spyglass.

"Hiccup, you might wanna take a look at this." He suggested. Hiccup took the spyglass. "Those look like..."

"Night furies!" The auburn-haired leader finished. "We have to help them. Astrid and I will get the dragons, Snotlout, Fishlegs, you help those kids, Heather grab some supplies." He ordered.

The riders all darted off to do just as he had asked. They dove into the ocean, retrieving the unconscious children and carrying them back to the clubhouse.

"Uhh, what were we supposed to be doing?" Tuff muttered to nobody in particular.

"I believe we are to stay out of the way, Brother Nutt." His sister explained.

Nuffink was the first to awaken, with a gasp, a few moments later. He blinked the water out of his eyes and scanned the room of strangely familiar people. He noticed his sister still laying by his side, slowly starting to stir. He sat her up as she coughed up half the ocean. She backed up in a panic when she noticed the young auburn-haired Viking approaching.

"Hey, it's okay." He assured, handing the blonde a couple of blankets. "We're not gonna hurt you."

The siblings looked towards the other Viking in the room, who looked a lot more familiar than the male. They couldn't help but stare blankly.

Just then the door flew open and in rushed Dart and Pouncer. Shortly followed by Fishlegs and Meatlug. The Night Furies raced to their owners and licked their faces both in excitement and relief. Nuffink wrapped both blankets around his shivering sister.

"You were right Hiccup. Night Furies are not easy to work with." Fishlegs rasped earning a huff from Toothless.

"Dart!" Zephyr cheered as her brother cheered;

"Pouncer!"

As each of the riders re-entered the clubhouse, the young Haddock's only became more and more confused. The dragon riders all huddled together on the opposite side of the clubhouse giving Zephyr and Nuffink a chance to talk.

"Mom..." Nuffink motioned to the blonde female across the room.

"Dad..." Zephyr gestured to Hiccup. "But that's impossible. They don't look much older than us."

"You know as well as I do. In our family, nothing is impossible." Nuffink explained.

"No. There has to be a logical explanation. We must have hit our heads and this is just some weird coma dream or something."

"A coma? Really? Both of us?" Nuffink glared at his sister. "You're smarter than that."

"Okay, let's just say for a minute that we really did travel back in time." Zephyr almost choked on her words. It sounded even more ridiculous when she said it out loud. "How do we get home without dad's device?"

"I have no idea." Nuffink shrugged. "But I do know that us being here is extremely dangerous."

"We're with mom and dad, how much danger could we possibly be in?" Zephyr wondered.

"Because we don't exist yet, which means that anything we say or do can affect our entire future." The blonde explained.

"Wow, I didn't think about that. Okay, I still have my journal so I might be able to make another device based on the blueprints I copied from the den. So, we just have to make sure that mom and dad don't find out who we are." She agreed. "But we should probably let the dragons in on the plan." She motioned to Dart and Pouncer who were currently cuddling up to Toothless.

"Looks like Toothless made some new friends." Astrid chuckled as the Furies chased each other around.

"Well, they are the first Night Furies we've come across." Hiccup reminded.

"Night Lights." Zephyr corrected.

"What?" Fishlegs wondered.

"Night Lights. It's a mix between a Night Fury and a Light fury." She explained.

"A Light Fury?" Hiccup furrowed his brow.

"Zeph..." Her brother glared in warning.

"It's a Strike Class dragon, similar to a Night Fury but more feminine in stature."

"Incredible." Hiccup chuckled as the Night Lights ran in circles around him. Toothless in turn approached the young siblings and sniffed around curiously. Nuffink raised his hand out and the Night Fury placed his snout upon his palm. Nuffink fussed their father's dragon while his sister examined him.

"Zeph, what are you doing?" He whispered.

"Well, dad and Toothless are the same age, right? So, we figure out how old Toothless is then we know how old mom and dad are." She explained.

"Good thinking."

"Seventeen, Eighteen, Nineteen." She counted the small nubs on the side of his face. "Nineteen? That was twenty years ago!" She shouted at a whispered.
