Your morning routine was the same, get up and start getting ready while your husband was about to leave for Metro police. Thankfully, with him being the first one awake, he always had breakfast cooked for you.

This particular morning however, felt off. You struggled to get out of bed, tired as ever. Pushing past the thoughts of taking a sick day, you couldn't be sick, it wasn't in the job description.

Walking out into the kitchen, you notice your breakfast plated and covered waiting for you. Opening the lid, the smell almost made you throw up.

What the hell?

Tim cooked whatever you asked him to the night before. You've had French toast and bacon so many times why now does the thought and smell make you want to vomit.

'It looks so good though' you thought to yourself. Battling if you should take a bite or leave it. With the busy day ahead of you, taking a few bites wouldn't hurt.

That was until you were running to the bathroom to throw up. Was it the flu that was going around? I mean you were handling dozens of infected people daily.

You were debating whether to call in sick, or tell Tim what you were dealing with. Flushing the toilet you worked through the strange feeling and got ready for work.

Today you were riding with Angela to check out a crime scene. Getting into the shop, you headed towards the destination.

"god what is that smell? Did someone not clean out the shop last night?" You asked Angela, even though she had no idea.

"I don't smell anything, didn't you check?" She questioned.

Tilting your head to quickly scan the back, there was no visible remains of anything left.

"yea, i um... nevermind" you mumbled.

Angela sized up your face, after hearing about the symptoms you were having from earlier in the morning.

"Y/n. What other symptoms are you feeling?" Angela's eyebrows furrowed.

"Uh let me think. Sickness, need to pee all the time, and my senses are just heightened. Everything is ten times worse" you rhymed off.

"And how long has this been happening?" Angela was starting to put the pieces together for you.

"Well the morning sickness has just started, but everything else has been bugging me for a while now. I just thought i was drinking too much water" you faltered.

"Pull over the shop" she instructed. Pulling the shop to the side of the road, you parked and looked to face her.

"What?" you shrugged.

"I need you to go in there and buy a pregnancy test. I don't want to chance it but you could be. Have you and Tim been trying or?" Angela asked in a helpful way. There was nothing you and her hadn't talked about to one another.

"Wait... no. I mean, we haven't been trying to get pregnant but..." your head started to spin, thinking back to the many times you'd had sex in the past few months with no protection.

Sitting on the toilet in the women's stall of Mid-Wilshire police department, waiting to see two lines or one, was how your afternoon was going.

You sat there with the pregnancy test in between your hands, watching the dye slowly filling up two lines. Overwhelmed at what this meant, your brain started to wander off to everything possible.

You being a mother for the first time, Tim being a father. Oh god, what the hell would he think of this... you knew he always wanted to be a dad. But there's something about not 'trying' to have a baby that always hits you at the worst time. How were you even going to tell him.

The rest of your shift was quiet, telling only Angela who swore you to secrecy. Your mind wasn't in the proper headspace to deal with anymore bullshit from the job today.

Looking down to your bare stomach, that has actually started to look like you were more 'bloated' than usual. It all made sense, every one of your symptoms over the past while adding together.

You had stopped on your way home to get a few things to surprise Tim with the news. It was the first time you'd ever done this, not wanting to wait out any longer than you had too.

something like this:

Wishing you could have a glass of wine to relax the bundles of nerves in your stomach, you had a baby to think about now.

You sat at the kitchen table, tapping your nails against the wooden surface, anxious for Tim to walk in the door any minute.

"how was my beautiful wife's day" Tim said walking in thought the door, you ran over to hug him.

These few moments, he's still unaware about how much our lives are about to change.

"how was your day baby" pushing through your shaky voice and huge grin you couldn't hide.

"better now that I'm with you. Can you believe two  boys needed metro to take them down? It was wild, they held a little girl hostage" he sounded exhausted, but you were too distracted to even comprehend what he was saying.

"I need to show you something" you blurted, interrupting his story.

His face looking confused, he gestured for you to continue.

"follow me, it's in the bedroom. but close your eyes" you beamed. Covering his eyes, Tim took your hand as you led him into the bedroom.

"you finally bought that red set you've been talking about?" He innocently asked. The smile on your face growing.

"no no. Okay open your eyes in three... two... one" you sputtered. Removing your hands from his face, he took a second to notice the box on the bed.

"a package, for me?" he was still so confused.

"open it" you shouted. The anticipation was eating you alive.

Tim took his time before slowly opening the box to find two positive pregnancy tests, a stuffed teddy bear and a babies onesie that said 'I can't wait to meet you daddy'

He spun towards you the second he had realized what this meant. His face in complete shock.

"oh my god, no way!" he forced you into a tight hug.

"yes, I'm pregnant baby" you giggled, embracing the firm grip he had on you. His hands moving to each side of your head.

"you're pregnant and I'm gonna be a... oh my god I'm gonna be a dad" he bursted with joy.

Kneeling down on one knee, his hands roamed your stomach.

"our baby is in there" looking up at you, a glassy shimmer in his eyes.
