How to get angsty boys 101
20:25, 29 May 2022"What? Yachi-san? the volleyball team manager?"
"Yeah, I heard from the other class that she likes one of them."
"No way! haha, she doesn't stand a chance!"
Tsukishima turned to the two girls conversing through the hall. He glared and then sighed hard. It had been only a day since he had might have found out who Yachi liked. Him. Well, he can't say for sure since he had only heard part of the conversation, but it still does not rule him out.
When was it? At the library? Yachi was talking with her friend when the topic of him came out. Her friend had asked what Yachi felt for the boy and the girl hesitated, she was going to answer when Yachi realized he was there. Her flushed face and her stuttering words had confused the boy even more than he already is.
"This is annoying." He muttered to himself, remembering how his heart dropped to the ground when his name was mentioned. How he shivered in fear when Yachi hadn't talked about it anymore, no matter how long he hid behind the bookshelves.
Tsukishima didn't want a girlfriend, scratch that, he didn't want anything to do with love. Years of his reputation that he built, destroyed by a scrawny little girl who had a thing with cold-hearted guys. He grumbled, also feeling bad. He didn't mean to make her like him, she is a nice girl who deserves a nice guy, not Tsukishima Kei. Well, It isn't 100% true, She might have just been flustered at the straightforward question.
Tsukishima grumbled, overthinking. He sighed and tried to forget it. He tried to clear his thoughts as he opened the door to his classroom.
"Tsuki! have you heard? Yachi-san-" Tsukishima grumbled- "Not you too, Yamaguchi." He glared at the guy, sitting in his seat. Yamaguchi eyed his friend, then smiled.
"Why are you so angsty? do you want Yachi-san to like you?" He teased, before he could even laugh, a smack landed right on his shoulder, causing him to scream in agony. Tsukishima rolled his eyes so far back, he thought he might've just made himself blind.
"Shut up Yamaguchi."
-
"Ah! Tsukishima-" Tsukishima flinched hard, gasping a little when he heard his name getting called by none other than Yachi. The team saw the whole thing and fell into a curious silence. Yachi looked at the male who actually got scared of her. Yachi tilted her head.
"O-Oh, Yachi-san." Tsukishima turned to face her, trying his best to act normal. Yachi relaxed and handed a bottle to him.
"Here you go. Sorry for scaring you." She said with a smile and she walked off, leaving Tsukishima confused with his own actions. He understands that feelings are hard to understand and care for. But why did his heart stop when the girl had shown up out of nowhere. Don't tell him... Does he hate 'love' that much?
Tsukishima nodded, chuckling to himself. 'That's right, Tsukishima. You just hate love so much it scares you. Yes yes.'
"For some reason, whatever he is thinking, it feels wrong," Suga muttered to Daichi, they saw the male humming and nodding to himself. The other seniors nodded. They all got back to training, Tsukishima was less focused than before.
"Tsukishima!" Tanaka shouted at him. Tsukishima flinched back to reality as he was the ball getting nearer to him by the second. He luckily managed to catch it in time, he gritted his teeth, knowing all too well the uncomfortable feeling. He had not properly caught the ball.
"Are you okay?" Tsukishima flinched hard again. There she was, Yachi, right beside him. His throat went dry as he tried to utter a word, but none came out. "Tsukishima-Kun?"
"A-Ah- Right. Yes, I just need to tape it up," He barely managed words out of his mouth. Daichi sighed hard.
"You are less focused today and you've been daydreaming, is something bothering you?" Their captain asked. Tsukishima looked at his hands and then shook his head.
"I'm fine." But Daichi was not having it.
"Go and sit down first. I am pretty sure you will lose focus if I put you back again." Tsukishima frowned but understood what Daichi wanted to say. He had no reason to fight back. He sighed, sitting down at the benches, looking at the practice game.
How to get angsty boys 101 (part 1)
Step 1:
Approach them like a ninja
Yachi looked at the tape and then at Tsukishima. She took a deep breath and walked calmly, her footsteps barely heard. She grinned hard when the male was distracted, now it's her time to quietly approach him.
"Tsuki-" Tsukishima jolted again, this time he let out a small low shriek. Tsukishima sharply glanced at her small figure. Yachi held a smile, step one complete.
Step 2:
Offer your help in the most innocent and kind way
"Here, you need to tape your fingers." She handed the tape to him. She paused and once he was going to grab the tape away from her hands, she swiftly took his hand and sat down beside him, pulling the end of the tape.
"You don't have to-" She cut him off before he could say anything. Yachi smiled.
If he tries to refuse, use Step 2.1: Give a logical reason for you helping them.
"I need to learn how to tape properly, please let me? Ne Tsukishima-Kun?" That seemed to shut the boy up. Yachi wondered why the boy was so jumpy today, well not that it bothered her, she will gradually get close to him, slowly but surely. Yachi smiled brighter, as she started taping.
Nice and steady wins the race.
Step 3:
Rinse and repeat until he lowers his guard.
Ever since that day, Yachi just seemed to pop out of nowhere in front of Tsukishima. It was a sight to see, the normally calm male flinched and stuttering when the girl had suddenly approached him out of the air. Many of the members seemed to have noticed how Yachi was slowly taming the boy. They shuddered, wondering how their little manager can be so cunning, she might be more cunning than Tsukishima, which is a shock.
"Tsukishima-kun!"
"Oh! Tsuki-Kun!"
"Ah! Tsukishima!"
Tsukishima gasped for air, falling down to the ground. He looked like he ran a whole marathon. The boy is mentally exhausted by Yachi just appearing right when he had let his guard down. It had been lasting for a week now and needless to say, Tsukishima was not in the right state.
"She- She's everywhere!" He muttered to himself. When the background noise becomes too quiet or when he was left alone for a little bit longer than he wanted, he starts to get paranoid that Yachi was going to approach him. His eyes started to dart around the room, finding where the girl was and when he doesn't find her, it scares him more. Because she could be near, waiting, stalking, preying on him.
Tsukishima shivered, checking his back. He should really not be this paranoid over their manager, but it was hard not to when there is a 50/50 chance of her liking him. But he has a 100% chance of hating love, which isn't a good pairing. He sighed hard, calming down.
He has to stop this.

How to get angsty boys 101 (Part 2)
Step 1:
Associate yourself with something he likes. (Do note that it must be something he really likes to the point of his lowering his guard even more!)
"Wha! Yachi-San, you didn't have to!" Suga said. Tsukishima had arrived a bit late and was now looking at his teammates crowding into one spot. Curious, he decides to walk to them, glancing at what they were holding. His eyes widened.
Strawberry shortcake.
He gulped. His favourite food of all time. He couldn't believe it, when was the last time he ate strawberry shortcake? a month ago? that is way too long. ( He actually ate one a week ago.)
He drooled, looking at the cake.
"Tsukishima-Kun! here, get a slice!" Yachi said, this time he did not flinch, well, she was offering strawberry shortcake to him, what's there to be scared about.
Yachi handed him the slice with a grin which kinda gave her teammates a small shudder. Step 4 was in operation.
'Ah... He really is going to fall for the trap.' That was what they all thought as Tsukishima ate his cake, happily not knowing the dire situation he was in.
"Where did you buy this, Yachi-san?" In an instant, Yachi had grinned even more.
'He took the bait! time to catch!' She cleared her throat.
"I made it, Tsukishima-kun. Everyone has been working hard so I thought I should bake a cake to encourage you all!" Her bright smile reached his eyes. He looked at her hard work, feeling a bit elated and quite possibly excited.
"You did? It's... really nice..." He muttered, flushing lightly. He took another bite of the cake, loving it more.
"Thank you, Tsukishima-kun!" The girl gave a small chuckle and slowly pulled away from him, obviously taking the rest of the cake with her too. Tsukishima looked at the cake and then to her, feeling a little down that she left.
He didn't catch himself. He has now taken the bait and Yachi was never letting go.
Step 2:
Now whenever you approach him, bring something he likes with you.
Tsukishima was utterly confused, he did not understand how whenever he sees Yachi, he'd feel excited or happy. The sheer panic and confusion after smiling back to her was a sight to see. When did he start enjoying seeing Yachi? When did that happen? What difference did she do to make his feelings about her change like that!?
"Tsukishima-Kun?" He flinched, snapping away from his thoughts. He turned to look at the girl who was clumsily eating the strawberry cake. The cream on her cheek particularly looked way more delicious than the cream on his slice of cake. He gulped.
"Yes?" He answered back as normally as possible. Yachi shook her head, smiling softly.
"Nothing, you seemed to be deep in thought, is something bothering you?" She asked so shyly that Tsukishima couldn't help but feel guilty that he wasn't listening to their conversation. It has been a few days since they've started eating cake together.
"I'm sorry, it was nothing much, just daydreaming," He said, hoping to lift the girl's spirits up. His heart slowly clenched when her smile returned back on her face. Was she ever this cute? wait-
Step 3:
Once he starts noticing the pattern, start pulling back. The key here is balance! Pull away just enough that he would still chase for you.
"Well, I came here to tell you I might get busy after this week," Yachi started, looking away from him and to her empty plate. Tsukishima froze, busy? what was Yachi going to be busy with?
"B-But I'll try seeing you! That is... if you want," If you want? Of course, Tsukishima wants to, if he could, he'd spend every day with her- Tsukishima frowned, when did he start thinking like this!? Him, wanting to meet her!? Didn't he think the possibility of Yachi liking him was annoying-
"Anyways, I'll see you around, I have to get going now too before I'm late!" As soon as he glanced at her, she was already up and packing her stuff. He looked at her rushed figure running out and saying a quick goodbye before leaving him all alone and empty.
He shook his head, Yachi would still have time to get his strawberry treats at least once every week, right? It's not like she'd disappear into thin air... Right?
...
2 weeks. 2 weeks without even 1 decent interaction with her. For some reason, when Yachi was just in his reach, something or someone would easily sweep her away from his hands. It was frustrating, his mind in a civil war. Wasn't it good that she won't bother him? But something deep down in him screamed that she couldn't just leave him hanging like that so suddenly.
Tsukishima, a man who would never admit to any feelings he had, admitted defeat.
and oh how utterly defeated he was.

How to get angsty boys 101(part 3)
This part is the most crucial. Your Angsty boy will now enter a fragile state. He is fighting a war in his mind. All the strange emotions and how suddenly you disappeared in front of him with be bound to make your angsty boy even more angsty.
Step 1:
Slowly approach him. (I would advise you and your angsty boy to be alone.)
"T-Tsukishima-Kun!" Tsukishima was going home alone when a certain blonde-haired girl called out to him, he turned to look at her, her short legs trying to catch up with him. His heart fluttered, stopping dead in his tracks.
The girl took a moment to catch her breath before looking back at him, giving a guilty smile.
"I- wanna go home together?" She asked as if he wouldn't let her. Tsukishima gave a silent nod and let her take the lead, slowing his pace to hers. Her heat practically radiated next to him, making him more self-aware.
Step 2:
Apologise for not spending time with him.
"I'm so sorry for not spending time with you these 2 weeks, I was really busy," Tsukishima glanced at the girl who looked down in glum. How can he be angry with such a cute face?
"It's alright, Yachi-san, if I may ask, what were you busy with?" Tsukishima was curious, to say the least, for 2 weeks he was suffering of course.
"Ah, about that... I had some projects to finish with my classmates but well that took a week at most so..." Yachi stopped talking, looking down, she looked a bit distressed, maybe annoyed? Tsukishima wondered what happened the past two weeks.
Optional step:
Try to make him jealous. (Do note it should have really happened or else they'll know you're lying.)
"Aki-Kun was taking up my time the most," Yachi glanced at the male who seemed expressionless. She wondered if she caught him.
She caught him good. Tsukishima's heart paced, a person- no, Aki-Kun? who is this guy taking up Yachi's whole week? His mind was running with many ideas in his head, was Aki-Kun a classmate? what did he have to do with Yachi? Why Yachi? does Yachi like him? Tsukishima bit his inner cheek, feeling like he'd explode with questions that he knows he can never ask.
"Aki...Kun?" He asked, trying to sound curious more than angry. Yachi sighed and nodded. her cute pout lessened the pain.
"He's in the second year and I guess he had taken interest in me," Yachi said, she looked burdened, Tsukishima wondered if that dude was pestering her like a bug-
"W-well, he confessed last week," Tsukishima's heart dropped. He wasn't stupid, Yachi Hitoka is a cute girl, really cute, a smart girl who is neat and organized with such a soft and cute personality, and to add to that, she is a manager of the volleyball club. Of course, there would be many other males wanting to be her boyfriend. Tsukishima didn't want to admit it, but his heart clenched at the thought of Yachi saying yes to any other guy... but him.
"So... did you say yes?" He asked, sounding sadder than he'd want to be. Yachi shook her head furiously.
"Of course not! I told him no! but he didn't want to give up, so I told him that I liked someone else!" Yachi explained, feeling a bit proud of herself at the end. She held a nice grin, " He finally stopped after that,"
Tsukishima was angry. furiously angry, the feeling of utter relief and the ego-boosting was making him burn inside. How can a girl make him go crazily mad? He hates how happy he felt knowing she's single, he hates how happy he was knowing that he had a chance.
he hates-
"Tsukishima-Kun? is something wrong?"
Step 3:
IF you had done the optional step, your angsty boy will now reach their breaking point, to defuse this bomb, please comfort them, make sure you do not overstimulate them because they will pull back but never, NEVER confess to them right there. If you did not do the optional step, then set up a small 'hang out' to make him feel happy, also bring their favourite food just in case an apology is not enough.
"I-I'm sorry, I had been busy dealing with this problem that I didn't even realize the people around me." She looked at the ground, stopping dead on her tracks, making him stop too. Yachi bowed down.
"Ah- Tsukishima-Kun, to be honest I..." Tsukishima's heart stopped. What was Yachi going to say? frankly speaking, he hadn't paid much attention the last few minutes because of his inner war with himself. But his heart raced at the possibility of Yachi confessing to him right then and there.
He wondered to himself if he'd say yes, maybe not... maybe yes... Maybe-
"I think I have hurt you as a friend! So- please accept this strawberry cake as an apology. I prepared it last night and baked it in the morning- S-so..." Yachi held out a cute paper bag and the strawberry cake inside.
Tsukishima Kei was impressed. He wanted to laugh, maybe break a leg, he was flustered. Thoughts about her confessing? What was he thinking? And what was he feeling? Why did his heart race at the thought of her confessing, why was he so... happy.
He gently took the paper bag from her hand, purposefully grazing his hands onto her hands as he did so. He grabbed her shoulder, pulling her upper body up. She glanced at him and he gave a gentle smile, something he'd only do in front of her.
"Why are you apologising, thank you for the cake," He seemed all too normal, too normal that Yachi wondered if she did the steps right. Tsukishima started to walk but stopped to turn back to her, waiting for her. Yachi quickly went to his side.
"Ah right, If you really are sorry, how about leaving your schedule free tomorrow?" Yachi furrowed her eyebrows, feeling the heat on her cheeks. She turned to look at the male, Tsukishima was smiling.
Did... she do it?
If you had done the steps correctly, congratulations! You've got yourself a nice Angsty boy as a boyfriend! If he confessed. If not, then be sure to check out 'How to get Angsty boys 102' for further information, have fun~!
"U-Um, what will we be doing tomorrow, Tsukishima-Kun?" Yachi asked, a bit uncertain. Tsukishima looked at her and then smirked, he leaned near to her, making her flustered.
He may have lost all senses by the thoughts running through his head, but one this is for certain... He likes her.
"What else? A date." He said ever so casually. Yachi blushed hard. so she did follow the steps correctly.
An angsty boy, Tsukishima Kei, a boy who shivered at the thought of Yachi liking him, a boy who lowered his guard and let the girl invade his heart and mind. And definitely, an angsty boy feeling jealous at the thought of Yachi having a boyfriend that isn't named Tsukishima Kei.
He definitely got captured. captured hard.
Hi :D
3 weeks! I have my final exam in 3 weeks! I was cleaning up my files and found an unfinished TsukiYachi story just begging me to let it live. I guess I got writers' block and left it alone until now. Definitely great that I picked it up instead of deleting it. As always, thank you all for reading this <3
