Chapter 1
13:53, 4 November 2021"Na, na, na, na. Na, na, na, na. Na, na, na, na."
"Na, na, na, na... Na, na, na, na. Na, na, na, na~"
Dodging a blue beam, I snapped my fingers and the soldier shoots up from the ground, my energy pillars knocking him into a tree.
I grinned and ran, ducking through piles of snow and burnt rubbles. From a distance, the team followed closely behind.
"Gladiator! Gladiator! Gladiator!"
The guards in front of me are hurled away, smashing onto the tank behind them as the Hulk darts past me with a loud growl.
Sliding in between the snow, I pillared myself towards Clint and Natasha as they drove in an open van, shooting bullets and arrows as they go.
"Pick the fight with the gods, I'm a giant slayer! Bow shaker! Dominator! Freight train, wrecking ball, I'm the gladiator!"
Wrapping my hands in front of me, I created a giant loop, causing a barricade of shields to interlope the moving vehicle, allowing us safe passage.
Jumping at the back, I proceeded to twirl around, singing at the top of my voice.
"Na, na, na, na. Na, na, na, na. Na, na, na, na~"
"Heads up!" Natasha shouts at me.
Thor jumped overhead, landing on top of a HYDRA fort and began to punch and kick his way through.
I watch him with mild interest as the god of thunder proceeded to push every one of them off.
Tony blasted a repulsor beam at one of the fallen soldiers Thor throws--quickly darting through trees.
I hear a familiar whirring of a Harley and smirked when the Steve narrowly misses falling rubble. He snatches at a HYDRA guard and proceeds to drag him along for the ride.
The distress from the HYDRA guard is clear as the man shouts for mercy. Steve only lets go when the man knocked himself out against a tree.
Steve then throw out his shield in front of him, the death frisbee practically pinballing all enemies to clear a path.
I am unable to stop myself as I continued to sing, the music running its course.
"Gladiator! Gladiator! Gladiator! Pick the fight with the gods, I'm a giant slayer! Bow shaker! Dominator! Freight train, wrecking ball I'm the gladiator!"
Our group comes across a trench and at once, the people in the moving van leap out, all Avengers marching forward-- and I followed, our bodies gliding through with ease.
Damn did we look badass.
Carefully weaving my arms, Natasha, Clint and I landed with grace on the snow as the others barrel through, dead set on getting to our destination.
"Whose great idea was it to let Lorelie choose the song?"
Clint asked out loud, looking at me with a raised eyebrow. He's shooting at HYDRA agents ahead of us to clear a path.
I stuck my tongue out as we hid behind a rock, watching the HYDRA agents fire at us.
"Blues has her own mind--can't change that for the life of me," Came Tony's muffled voice through the comm.
"Rude, you all!" I huffed, dismantling myself from the two spies and heading my own way.
"Don't you get the irony of the song?" I demanded.
The snow was everywhere and I thank god for my self-heating suit and damn this cold weather of Sokovia.
"Thor's a god, Hulk's a giant slayer, Clint's the bow shaker, Natasha's the dominator, Steve's a freight train and Tony you're a wrecking ball."
When I found this song I could not resist playing it. It was funny and quite frankly, matched us well.
"I don't know if I should be offended," Clint muttered, sounding amused.
"I like dominator," Natasha piped out. I could practically feel the smirk that was on her lips.
"Why am I a wrecking ball?" Says an outraged Tony.
"Because you are one," Staying low at a flying HYDRA guard due to the jet pack he wore, I stuck my hand out and spun him around, causing the jet pack to wheel out of control.
"And I'm the gladiator,"
It smashes across a few more propelled jet soldiers and they all tumbled off the mountain.
"Freight train, though?"
The Super Soldier was fighting a bunch of Hydra guards from his Harley and was quickly approaching my destination. So I joined him, kicking two he'd missed at the back by surprise and wrapping my legs around the other.
The guard tried to throw me off, but I send a large energy wave that made him kneel, screaming at the assault.
Steve stopped the bike and hit him with the shield knocking the guard unconscious.
"Don't worry baby, freight trains are known to be quick and hot," I smirked.
There's a collective groan through the comms.
Steve tried to focus on the battle but he is unable to as my words take him by surprise.
A red flush has spread across his cheeks and he holds out a hand, muttering something under his breath that sounded like;
"You'll kill me one day, I swear."
Panting, I took Steve's outstretched hand and got on the Harley, hanging onto the sides as we begin to drive through the harsh terrain.
Adrenaline courses through my body and my fingers cackled with swirls of light.
"Hey, Tony! Want to wrap it up!?" I shout out, watching as Iron Man flies towards the building, avoiding energy beams.
He crashes through but is abruptly bounced back. "Shit!"
"Language!" Steve says without warning.
I slapped at his shoulder and gave him a small laugh. "Language?"
He realizes his mistake but doesn't say anything. It's funny to see him shake his head in apparent embarrassment.
"JARVIS what's the view from upstairs?" Steve breaths out, not even pausing to look at my smirking face.
"The central building is protected by some kind of energy shield."
The AI says, sounding relaxed.
"Strucker's technology is well beyond any other Hydra base we've taken."
Hurling my hands in front of me, I managed to rip through two more forts making all of them crash to the floor in a giant heap of a mess.
"We noticed," I grumbled under my breath, holding onto the Super Soldier tightly.
"Loki's scepter must be here." Thor said triumphantly. The god had to stay on earth for quite some time all because of the sceptre.
Months of searching for it has finally paid off. "Strucker couldn't mount his defence without it."
"I'm confirming Thor's opinion," I added, feeling my abilities flare as the echolocation did its job in finding the enemies and the friendlies. "I can feel it in the area,"
Tony grunted something incoherently under his breath as Thor voiced out a quiet praise. "At long last,"
"At long last is lasting a little long, boys," Natasha points out sarcastically and out of breath.
"Yeah, I think we lost the element of surprise," Clint added as I feel him shoot at a hidden fort, blowing it up in pieces.
"Blame Blues for playing Gladiator by Zayde Wolf on maximum." Tony chuckles, throwing me under the bus.
"Hey, Tony? Do you want me to explode all your suits?" I threatened out loud as numerous explosions happened around us due to the giant Tank ahead.
"All of them?"
He says it like he thinks I don't mean it.
"All of them,"
I could visibly feel Tony swallow before he shaked his head. "Oh and wait a second--is no one going to deal with the fact that Cap just said; Language?"
Steve sighs exasperatedly. "I know,"
He tapped my shoulder and I nodded, preparing myself for a hard landing.
The tank move ahead of us and before I could blink, I jumped off the Harley around the same time Steve propelled the machinery forward, denting the tank to pieces.
"It just slipped out,"
I watch it, wide-eyed at what he did, as I scrambled off the snow.
Damn and I thought all his energy was wasted.
"Rogers, I think we're gonna need to get in bed more often," I slyly point out, puckering my lips.
He smiled at me before frowning and trying to shake off the dirty thoughts that filled his head.
When he is unable to do this, he sends me a scolding expression for making him think that but it eventually melts into that admiring look he only reserved for me.
God did that make me feel like I was glowing.
"No one's getting in anyone's bed," Tony dully says, sounding annoyed as his suit fly towards us.
I pouted, already knowing Tony was a little too late for that.
For a guy who knows everything, he was pretty clueless when it came to the fact that Steve and I were somewhat dating.
Tony landed in front of us with a thud, kicking up snow. He steps forward and circles his metal arms around my waist.
"What the--"
"Come on Blues, you're coming with me." He flies us upwards before I could do anything and I scowled, knowing this was his protectiveness.
In the background of the comm, I think I hear the two spies laughing but thought nothing of it as Tony carted me away.
We race up towards the castle-like building, dodging and turning at every beam that shoots at us.
I deflect each one that got too close, knowing my abilities were similar to its power.
"Sir, the city is taking fire,"
"Damn it," I cursed, looking at all the missed explosions that hit the city. "Tony we gotta help them," I poke at his metal mask.
He nodded. "Well, we know Strucker's not going to worry about civilian casualties. Send in the Iron Legion."
The team realized we couldn't be in two places at once, thus, the Iron Legion was born. They were the Avengers secondary team meant to protect civilians and get them to safety.
"Dropping off the package," Tony steadily drops me on a roof, blasting off instantly when the beams continue to fire at him.
"Find a way to break it down!" I order at him, kicking through two more guards who surrounded the area.
When one of them got two cocky, I whip out my energy blades and grin as his face falls in fear.
"Who would've thought Strucker's experiments would come back to him, hmm?" Sliding on my knees, I sliced him on the leg and drew it up to his chest.
He choked and fell down, no longer moving.
I retracted the energy blades, waving them away when I was sure there were no enemies.
The shield surrounding Strucker's base was invisible, but I could feel the charge in the air. I proceeded to reach my hand out, lightly touching the shield that prevents me from entering.
I recognize the energy.
Loki's sceptre was powering it.
"Clint!"
My comm started ringing in static and I tapped at it, hearing Natasha's frantic cries.
I wave my hands in front of me, searching the battlefield for their energy sources.
When I found them, I felt Barton's pain waft back at me around the same time Steve speaks out from his position.
"We have an enhanced in the field."
My mind goes blank.
An enhanced? How is that possible?
Was it possible Strucker did experiments like how he did me?
"Yeah uh, I call dibs in punching Strucker, first!" I said, feeling the rage burn.
"Clint's hit!" Natasha frantically calls out.
"Is it bad?" I asked, immediately worried. All I could hear through the comm was Barton's groans of obvious pain. "Keep him covered Nat, we'll deal with this."
Angry, I slam my palms against the barricade, not caring the amount of electricity that barrels back at me.
I could take it.
This was nothing.
Ever since the DC debacle, my powers have only grown overwhelming.
It was like HYDRA's training had been an impurity to my abilities, a block if you will--and after breaking out of it, only pure energy could be felt.
However just because something was pure didn't mean it was safe. That just made corruption all the more simple.
"Come on, come on--" My abilities began to absorb it all indefinitely.
However as much as I pressed against it, my abilities are unable to penetrate the barrier, not with Loki's sceptre fighting against me.
"Stupid Tesseract, and its friends."
I grumbled to myself. Knowing it was because of that blasted gem.
"Stark we really need to get inside," Steve angrily says, worried about our fallen teammate.
"I'm closing in."
I see Tony's suit dart over to the other side of the building and I gave up on my initial plan, shooting up blue green gold beams that boost me over the wall so I landed near him.
The two of us shot out our lights, wreaking havoc and destruction everywhere.
"JARVIS, am I... closing in?"
I rolled my eyes at Tony's lack of seriousness and dodged a beam, sending it flying back to its owner.
"Forget about that--JARVIS, do you see a power source to dismantle the shield?" Ducking in time as Tony shot his repulsor to a guard behind me, I tapped my comm.
The two of us flew forward, him in his suit and me, creating blockades of pillars, knocking down metal gates and guards that blocked our way.
"There's a pathway below the North Tower," Replied the AI.
Pulling back the awaiting tanks, I smash them on the side of the mountain, feeling the machinery groan under my command.
"You hear that?" My gaze tilts at Tony. "Go blow stuff up."
"Great, I'm gonna poke it with something!"
He was a child when it came to blowing stuff up, I swear.
Tony flew ahead, leaving me to deal with the remaining soldiers that either look too scared to fight me or just waiting on what I'd do.
"So," I trail off, lighting up my arms with the familiar colour swirls. "Anyone wanna take me to their leader?"
A bunch of explosions happened all at once, as Iron Man darts back, permanently incapacitating them.
"Or not." I sighed.
Protective-ass-brother--
Something silver shot past me, hitting me in the stomach and making me fall to the ground with a loud shriek.
My ear comm fell out, landing somewhere in the snow.
A boy, maybe a few years younger than me strode over my fallen figure, with a smirk marring his pale face.
His hair was outlandishly white and I frowned, feeling like I'd seen him before.
Do you see what you need to do?
The voice is gone as soon as I think it and I scrambled up, bearing my palms with swirls of light that makes his smirk falter slightly.
"Okay Snow white, listen. I don't want to hurt you," My tone is light, but my gaze is serious.
This must be the enhanced that hurt Clint.
He frowns and with determination, flashes next to me, hitting me in the shoulder and once more making me fall.
Goddamn--
"Don't you know it's rude to hit a lady?" I yelled out, annoyed. Hurling out a barricade of energy, it knocks him off his Tinkerbell feet almost instantly.
He hits the ground, rolling.
I smirked and crawled up, watching as he shakes the snow from his athletic outfit.
"Say, Snow White, what'd they call you?"
He glares at the nickname and spits out the snow that he apparently must've swallowed.
"You're all killers," His voice is tilted heavily with an accent.
Now I'm offended. Pulling my mask down to my neck, I gave him an off-putting glare, waving the lights away and placed my hands on my hips as I stare him down.
He watches me with shock as I've coolly revealed myself around him like it's nonchalant.
"I was a killer but I'm not now. That's just plain rude, to call out someone."
Snow white narrowed his gaze and I see what he's about to do. However, before I can even react, something red flashes across my vision and I dodge, ducking out of its way so I face my newest threat.
"There's two of you, lovely." I can barely keep the sarcasm off my voice as I said this.
Were they twins? They oddly looked the same.
The second enhanced is watching me warily. Unlike the male, her hair is long and brown, her skin pale but there's a slight tinge of red in her eyes.
My gaze widened. "Did Strucker do this to you?" I demanded, tone low and filled with shock. Not for the fact that there's two enhanced in front of me.
But the fact that Strucker had the audacity to turn these people into powerhouses.
They don't answer me. Just stare-- like it's their first time seeing someone like me.
Okay, I admit, with the swirls of colours around me and the fact that my eyes were glowing blue-- it'd make people turn their heads.
"You're her," The female says softly, in awe.
I frowned. "Her? I am a girl right?"
The male scoffed, muttering something to his sister but she merely shrugged him off. "Strucker's escaped creation."
The fact that she says the word; creation, boils at me.
I am no one's creation but my own.
If I could resurrect Pierce and kill him again I would.
She continues on, not realizing I was pissed off, despite how I've gritted my teeth. "The Dark Witch--"
Holding out a hand, I stopped her, pinching the bridge of my nose to contain my anger.
The two of them pause and exchanged confused looks, obviously caught off guard by my state.
"Firstly," I began, fixing them a glare. "Because you said that, I'm going to punch Strucker, two times. Secondly, you're fighting for the wrong side, people."
The two of them frowned. "You say that but what have you done but cause destruction?" The female hisses, red swirls surrounding her.
I am reminded of my own powers and I wondered what else she could do, or if she was in some way, connected to the sceptre.
"Death and chaos, you leave those behind where ever you go."
Her emotions are frazzled. Filled with hurt and fury. Her brother wasn't any better. Their hatred was overpowering.
"Look, I wasn't around for the most part about what happened to your city. I was locked away for 5 years, so try having that on you."
My words are not meant to shift the blame, but to give them an inkling that they are innocent people involved here.
They've already hurt Clint, what if they hurt others?
The building behind us suddenly powers down and the shield dropped, telling me Tony did his job.
Both of them look at each other in alarm and I saw my chance.
Stomping my foot, pillars rose beneath their feet and I interlocked my fingers so they remain still.
The male called out a cry, my abilities keeping him pinned. His panic spreads to the girl, and without warning, I watch as the girl's eyes turn red with anger.
My pillars burst into sparks of blue mixed with red.
The red swirls around her do not evaporate, rather they grow opaque. She throws out a ball that knocked me onto the disabled tank.
I'm thrown backwards, spine hitting the metal as my entire being practically trembled at the pain.
"Christ on a stick--"
Scrambling up, I dodge her merciless hits of red. She's on a roll, weaving her fingers, manifesting energy after energy.
Each time I dodge, her face twitches in pain as though she is trying to control what she wields but is unable to.
I know that look.
The look of not being able to control it.
No anchor to hold on to.
Like when the Tesseract was still connected to me.
"Stop! You'll make it worse!" I yell out a warning, urging her not to overdo it.
She wavers and before I could explain, a flash of silver had me flying back to the mountain. Good god--I coughed feeling my vision blurring with angry painful tears.
"Son of a..." Rolling over, I look up only to find the twins gone.
Biting my lip, I muffled out a bad word that would've made Steve look at me in pure angelic, innocent horror.
Oh, how I missed getting kicked around.
