courtney's pov:

i watch all of my things get sorted into the moving van from my window as i pick up boxes from by my soon to be old bedroom door.

'courtney, honey, i need you to go faster.' my mom yells at me from downstairs. she gets on my nerves so bad. as soon as im 18 im moving out.

'going as fast as i can, mother.' i roll my eyes as i pass her. i set the last box of mine into the van and steps back so the workers can close the door.

i pull out my phone and text bridgette.

'about to be on the road ! 🚘'

' yay! i'm so excited for you to get here and meet my friends ! ' she replies not even a minute later.

i smile at my phone , really excited and then put my phone back in my pocket.

'courtney, in the car, now!' my mom yells and rolls down the window.

'what do you think i'm doing woman?' is what i would've said but instead all i did was open the van door and plug my headphones into my phone.

i turn on the 'folklore' album by Taylor Swift and 'peace' starts to play.

i lay my head on the window and close my eyes.

~time skip~

i bat my eyes open and we pass a sign saying

'welcome to toronto!' and i smile and grab my phone.

i open bridgettes messages and start to type;

'7 minutes away <3333'

'so excited <3!' she replies and quickly adds, 'EEEEEEE'

i set my phone in my lap and look at my mom, she's not focused on me, she never really is, she's always on business trips until we have to move again.

we pull up into a driveway of a 2 story house, it's pretty big and has lots of windows.

'pretty cute , huh courtbaby?' my mom asks jumping out of the van.

'ew don't call me that, i'm not 8 anymore.' i fake gag and my mom pinches my cheeks.

'okay actually stop-' i giggle and slightly hit her hands off.

she sighs. 'fine be that way.' she walks through the door and i walk behind her. i sit at the island bench we have as mom brings in boxes.

my phone starts vibrating. 'hello?' i answer and bridgette is on the other line. 'look outside' she replies and i peek out the window and bridgette is standing there. i drop my phone and run outside.

'bridgette!' i hug her and she hugs me back. 'i missed you so much!!' me and her both say at the same time. we pull apart and smile.

a blonde boy walks out of her jeep. 'hey dude!' he yells to me and tries to give me a fist bump..? 'hi..!' i say with my teeth together and look at bridgette. 'oh! right. courtney, this is geoff, my boyfriend i told you about!' she says and takes his hand.

'the one and only.' he says. 'right! i've heard great things.. i'm cou-' i begin but the tall party guy interrupts me. 'you look like a coffee, like a mocha, i'll call you mocha.' he declares and looks proud of himself and i can't help but laugh. 'right.' i say between laughs.

'anyway court, it was great seeing you but i have to get geoff home before he starts calling people in the street frappe.' she giggles and i did too. 'yeah of course, see yall at school tomorrow?' i ask . 'obviously' she says and gives me one last hug before waving.

'later mocha.' geoff says as he holds up a peace sign. 'bye geoff.' i reply and smile at them and walk back inside.

i'm so excited for school tomorrow!
