Heartache

Krystal's POV

"...And that's pretty much it." Hiccup says. They had just finished the tour around Dragons' Edge.

"It's amazing! How long have you been here?" Krystal asks.

"For..."

"Hiccup!" Krystal looks over to see a blonde girl running up to them. Upon seeing Shadow, the girl's face turns dark. "That dragon got into Stormfly's feed!"

"Wait, Astrid, hold up!" Hiccup jumps between the girl and dragon. Shadow calmly stands by Krystal's side, unaffected by Astrid's hostility. The dragon even huffs in her direction before nuzzling Krystal.

"I'm sorry if Shadow misbehaved." Krystal says. Astrid finally notices her, face softening slightly.

"Is he your dragon?" Astrid demands. Krystal nods.

"Astrid, this is Krystal. I'm sure you remember her. We were friends back on Berk." Hiccup says.

"Krystal...Krystal...oh yeah! You were Hiccup's little friend that disappeared, weren't you?" Astrid's tone hit Krystal hard, making her fists clench. Shadow nuzzles the girl, purring.

"Well, I'm glad you and my boyfriend were finally able to meet up again." Astrid says.

'Boyfriend?' Krystal looks at Hiccup for an explanation, who looks just as shocked as her. (Astrid and Hiccup aren't together in this. Sorry Hicstrid fans! <3)

"I'll see you later." Astrid kisses Hiccup on the cheek. "Have a good tour!" Krystal watches as the girl runs off. Hiccup had a girlfriend. Why wouldn't he? He's the most amazing person Krystal ever knew. She feels something stir in her heart and she looks away as Hiccup turns to her.

"Thanks for the tour, Hiccup." She says quickly to keep Hiccup from talking. "I'm glad you and Astrid are happy. Shadow and I are going to leave now."

"Krystal, wait. Astrid and I..." Hiccup says, but Krystal was already airborne. "Krystal!"

She couldn't look back. Not while she could still see his face. She stares straight ahead as the tears she didn't realize she was holding start to flow.

Hiccup's POV

'What in Thor's name just happened?' Hiccup stares at Krystal as she flies away.

"Toothless!" The black dragon suddenly appears. Hiccup quickly gets onto the Night Fury. "After her. We have to bring her back here." The dragon growls in response and the duo fly after Krystal and Shadow.
