6(Demon Slayer)

An Au that takes the headcanon that Tomiokas and Shinazugawas lived in the same village.

What if Genya hadn't reacted liek he did in canon as he realized that his mother didn't look human and Sanemi was acting in self-defense? Seeing they were the only surviving ones and that they heard about what happened to a boy who said his elder sister was killed by a demon a day before(in here, Tsukato was killed by the demon who turned Shizu into a demon and the deaths happened one day after the other so the Shinazugawas' heard about the village calling Giyuu crazy and all that) so the two grabbed what they would need and run away before they were found by someone.

As they were running away, they end up meeting Giyuu was didn't look really well which actived Sanemi's protective and elder sibling's instincts and decide that they should help Giyuu especially as Genya was able to recognize Giyuu as the boy who had lost his sister to a demon(for this au I would also to use the headcanon that Sanemi is a albino which explains his white hair and that he is colorblind but if you want you can say that he is an albino due to having marechi blood).

The three tried to survive in the mountain together but it was hard as it was winter but thankfully they were found by Urokodaki and the ex-Wind Pillar(who was visiting his old friend) who took them back to Urokodaki's house.

Once the trio was healed, they explained what happened for them to be in the mountain so the ex-pillars and Sabito decided to explain them about demons, demon slayers, etc which made Sanemi and Giyuu decide that they wanted to train to be demon slayer to be able to protect others while Genya did which for the same the other two asked him to simply learn self-defence(still learn a breathing style but not try to become a demon slayer) and wait a few years before making a decision.

Urokodaki and the ex-Wind Pillar ended up agreeing and each of them ended up taking one of them under their wings while teaching the basic to Genya(if Genya ends up with his own breathing style that isn't the demon eating one like canon is up to the writer).

So they all train and Sanemi and Giyuu grow close to their masters' other students, Sabito and Masachika, but not as close as they were to each other(because I love Sanegiyuu but if the writer wishes they could just have a platonic relationship instead of a romantic one).

Their training is like canon and they all go to the same Final Selection which leave sit up to the author if Sabito survives it and also later if Masachika survives the fight against the Lowermoon.

Anyways, much later Sanemi and Giyuu became hashiras(at the same time as they did in canon) but Giyuu who is a bit antisocial doesn't befriend the other hashiras while still being respectful to them but Sanemi despite his less then canon anger issues ends up befriending them.

It is after Iguro, Mitsuri and Muichiro have already became hashiras(if Kanae lives is up to the writer) that the hashiras discover that Giyuu and Sanemi knew each other and were close but not in the correct way(not the right word but it works too).

Like, I was imagining that Himejima ended up still taking Genya under his wing after Genya told Sanemi he still wished to become a demon slayer which Sanemi allowed as long as Genya promised to be careful so I imagine that one day Himejima brought Genya to a meeting with him since he had been with him before a meeting was called but the moment Genya saw Sanemi and Giyuu(who were sitting beside each other) he ran to hug them which surprised the hashiras(except Gyomei...because he is blind) especially as they sae the two smile softly at Genya and talk in whispers that Tengen couldn't hear well(he just heard a few words that would give him the wrong idea).

Unfortunately the hashiras hadn't been able to question their two companions as then the meeting started and Giyuu and Sanemi left before any of them could stop them besides Himejima not taking kindly to them trying to corner his student.

So the hashiras decided to meet at Uzui's state to talk(Mitsuri dragged Muichiro with her) and they all gave their opinions about what they saw could mean but after Uzui shared what he was able to hear they all started to think that Sanemi and Giyuu were older then they thought or Genya was much younger as what Uzui heard gave the idea that the other two hashiras were Genya's parents(which in a sense is true since they were his parental figures after the death of his mother).

How would this go from here? It really is up to the author since the hashiras could try to get the other two to confess they were married and had a child, could just decide to observe them and see when they would fess up or any other thing but it would also be hilarious that Sanemi and Giyuu were actually married(they were married by their teachers with Oyakata's permission) and had an adopted child that wasn't Genya(if it is a canon character it is up to the writer).

Basically, I want it to start sad but end up in comedy or crack.
