When my dad told me to "bring Oikawa over after practice," I assumed we were in trouble. And I was right.
We sat on the floor in the gym like two kids waiting for a parent-teacher conference. Oikawa was sitting so straight I thought he might snap in half. I wasn't even sure he was breathing.
"Relax," I whispered.
"I AM relaxed," he whispered back, high-pitched and terrified.
"You look like you're about to get drafted into the military."
"Honestly? That might be easier than this."
I was about to laugh when my dad walked into the room, holding a mug of tea like it was a gavel.
He sat down across from us. Silent. Sipping. Judging.
"So..." he finally said, leveling Oikawa with a look that could curdle milk, "You're dating my daughter."
Oikawa swallowed. "Y-Yes, sir."
"Coach," I muttered, "you already knew that."
"I needed to hear him say it."
"...Fair."
He looked back at Oikawa. "How long?"
"A little over a month," Oikawa said quickly. "But I've beenโuhโinterested for longer. Very respectfully. Professionally. Respectfully."
Dad stared.
Oikawa fidgeted.
I smirked.
"And what are your intentions?" Dad asked, dead serious.
Oikawa opened his mouth. Closed it. Opened it again. "My... intentions... are to... not die right now."
I snorted.
"Wrong answer," Dad said flatly.
Oikawa scrambled. "To support her! Cheer her on! Never let her down, except when I'm being annoying, but even then, it's with affectionโ"
"Are you in love with her?" Dad interrupted.
I choked on air.
Oikawa blinked. "...Define love?"
"Wrong answer again."
"I MEAN YES! YESโprobably! Maybe! In the future! Definitely possibly!"

Oikawa's POV
This was worse than any match.Worse than any finals.Worse than Kageyama's stupid stare.
I was sweating through my practice shirt and I hadn't even done anything wrongโwell, unless you count falling hopelessly in love with Coach Sadayuki's daughter as a federal offense.
She was smirking beside me. Smirking. Like she wasn't about to be grounded for eternity.
Coach Sadayuki finally sighed and leaned back. "I should bench you just for the stress."
"I understand completely, sir."
"But..."
I flinched.
"...You've become a better setter. A better captain. And, somehow, a better human being."
My eyes widened.
"...Because of her," he added.
Y/N blinked, caught off guard.
Coach stood up, stretched, and said, "Hurt her, and I'll ruin your life."
"Understood, sir."
"But for now... you have my very reluctant approval."
Y/N grinned. "Aww, Dad."
"Don't push it."

Y/N's POV
Later that night, Oikawa walked me home.
He kept stealing glances at me every few seconds.
"Stop looking at me like that," I said.
"I survived Coach Sadayuki," he whispered dramatically. "This is the best day of my life."
"You were shaking."
"I was respectfully trembling in awe."
I rolled my eyes. "So what now?"
He leaned closer, brushing my hand with his. "Now... you're officially mine. Your dad said so. It's legally binding."
"That's not how legality works."
"Let me have this."
I laughed softly. And then, before we reached the door, I tugged on his sleeve and kissed his cheek.
"Thanks for surviving, Tooru."
He blinked. "Did you justโ"
"Nope," I said quickly, opening the door.
"But youโ"
"Goodnight, Oikawa."
And I slammed the door in his smiling, stunned face.
