CHAPTER 6: Perfect Timing

Fred's POV

I was worried sick when i saw hermione with Krum on the lake together. does that mean Viktor Really like Mia? Merlin help me. 

i gave her a tight hug. my heart was calming down now. i gave hermione my cloack and kept her hands together so she could feel warm.

"what time is it?" she asked

"ten minutes love. he'll come-" we heard a loud thud and saw harry on the floor. right on time mate. hermione ran to him and gave him one of her towels.  Professor Dumbledore together with Mr crouch rewarding him for outstanding moral fiber. well well!

that night, hagrid accompanied the trio back to the dormitory. harry was the most bothered about what they saw at the forest. we sat on the floor, it was almost midnight and we were the only ones awake.

"do you guys know who could do this?" ginny ask as he held harry's hand tight. harry staring at the fire. he just got back from dumbledore's office.

"well one thing we know, there's a mad man inside the place. " ron said as he took another bite at his licorice.

"this person is too smart. " i said. hermione and harry nodded.

"and they say that hogwarts is the safest place" george said with sarcasm

we chuckled at the past 3 years of dangerous events.

"i bumped into snape. and he was talking to karkaroff. he showed snape his mark on his arm. it wasn't a clear vision. but he looked disturbed. then snape accused me that we were stealing ingredients from him to make polyjuice potion. " everyone went silent

"this is far worse than the pipes on our 2nd year" ron said. ginny turned pale and exhaled

"we'll know soon" hermione said " one thing i know, they always turn out to be the most unexpected person" 

"we should sleep this off.  get some rest guys" harry said and bid ginny goodnight. George and ron also left after eating. 

"how was your day without me?" she asked

"horrid. i couldn't find you in the whole crowd" she chuckled and scooted closer to me.

"spend your summer with m- us" i said. she looked at me and nodded. 

"give me at least 2-3 weeks with my parents. then i'll be going to the burrow" i nodded.

"can we stay like this for another hour?" she asked

"stay as long as you like mia" fred said.

My morning was going fine when hermione arrived with a serious expression. 

"hey mione have you read the news?" harry asked

"yep. why? want me to do about it?" harry stared at her for a while. she acted a if nothing was wrong with what she said

"merlin. are you going to kill rita?!" i said faking the drama. she laughed.

"well... not really." she smiled.  "ginny could you help me with distributing these pins?" ginny grabbed her bag and kissed harry "bye mione! busy!"

she groaned. i laughed at her pins

"mia, house elves doesn't need these you know. you'll break their hearts if you go against what they want to do most." she sighed

"fine. but they'll understand my point sooner or later" she pulled me up and went to our separate classes. 

hermione and i went to dinner together after we dropped our things off. it was a great night, but one minute i saw hermione walking with ginny, next thing i saw krum was now with hermione. 

"gin" i said and looked at her 

"yeah fred?" 

"i thought you were with hermione?" she looked suddenly uncomfortable

"well... viktor kinda... wanted to talk to hermiyoninee alone" she gave me an apologetic look

"about what exactly-"

"hey guys" hermione sat beside me and looked at the food in front of us.

"why were you with Krum?" she smiled.

"you saw that? well... he said that the tournament will be over soon... he decided to invite me to visit bulgaria this summer."  everyone looked at her way

"you're kidding me?! can i come with u hermione- Ow!" ron exclaimed as george nudged him with his elbow.

"well what did you tell him?" ginny and harry were waiting. so was i

"well... i said i'll think about it" she smiled widely

"but you said you'd come to the burrow after you spend your weeks with your parents" i said annoyingly. 

"it's a friendly gesture fred. it doesn't mean anything to me-"

"it does to him. and to me" i said darkly. she gave me that stare that gives me shivers and... it scared me

"i'm not some animal who will obey a person's orders. if i want to go and my parents agree why not." 

"fine. go then" i said. she looked away and left the great hall. i sighed and covered my face with my hands.

"well.... that was harsh" ginny said as she stared at me

"and awkward" ron said as a few students were looking at our direction

"guess the green mosnter got you freddie" george said as he tapped my shoulder. i groaned and left the hall too. i feel frustrated and upset because Krum managed to convince hermione to go to his hometown that easily. i went to the dormitory and fell on my bed thinking what to do. 

the next day, it was a visit at the hogsmeade. i saw hermione with harry and ron but they look like they have other plans besides buying butterbeer and sweets. 

"padfoot is here" george whispered as the crowd in the three broomsticks were quite loud

"really? where's he hiding then?" 

"i don't know, the three are buying food for the two animals" i looked at him in a confused way.

"who's the other one?"

"buckbeak" he whispered. i nodded and continued drinking in silence

"forge, you know you can easily apologize since she can't stay mad at you that long" i sighed

"i know mate. why don't we look for something to eat or something" since ginny was with her friends. george and i went to zonko's to cheer me up.

when we got back to the dormitory, hermione looks like was about to leave so i decided to say hi but she just went past by me and left. i stood frozen at what happened.

"ouch mate" harry said. i sat on the arm chair and sighed. "what am i gonna do?"

"easy fred. she's like that because she needs to do something. she'll be back with News" george and i were confused so we waited and decided to play with harry and ron.

hermione came back with a grin on her face. we look around and saw that it was already past midnight. hermione drop her bag and smiled at them

it was unusual, so we were a bit nervous and scared.

"uh you're in a good scary mood?" george said. 

"so what's the news?" harry asked

"i followed someone after i went to the library-"

"to read" everyone said. she rolled her eyes.

"i followed rita and she was meeting up with her other 2 reporters"

"so?" ron said confusedly

 hermione said and showed them a recent list of registered people who can turn into an animagus. "well harry, now you know how she gets information" hermione patted his shoulder.

"wait... you're telling us that-" george said

"Rita Skeeter is an unregistered animagus" harry smiled in triumph. 

"how did you know mione?" ron asked

"well... i saw her transformed, in a corner." she said.

"why didn't you catch her then?" i asked

the three looked at each other and smiled.

"we'll get to that soon"

The next morning, we were all eating our breakfast silently. After that interesting information about that skeeter woman, we became extra careful about our surroundings, especially when the three continue to visit Sirius from time to time. George and i were finishing some of our projects when hermione and ginny entered the common room.

"hey guys, busy?" ginny asked and sat next to me. hermione went to their room quietly

"what's wrong?" george asked

"well she kinda found out that viktor asked harry the other day if they have something romantic going on between them." i suddenly snapped my quill and looked at ginny

"why doesn't that bloke just leave her alone?" i said through gritted teeth

"well if you must know, he spends his time at the library with hermione but he only watches her study. but since the 3rd task is coming up, he catches up to her only at dinner time" she shrugs

"you're welcome brother. now if you excuse me i will go to the great hall with harry in 5 minutes." after she left, george stared at me

"you're losing brother" i rolled my eyes and sighed. 

"i'll just get some air" i left and went to the tower deep in my thought on how to apologize to hermione.  i feel worse during the 1 week ignoring each other. i turned around and saw an unexpected person.

"Krum" i said in monotone

"'elo there." krum gave me a small smile. there was silence for a few minutes when he asked me

"you like hermiyonie. do ya'?" i looked at him and nodded. he smiled

"i see da way you look at 'er even from a far" he said.  i continued to stay silent

"she likes you weesleay" he said. i chuckled

"how would you know that?" 

"i notice the way her eyes sparkle when she looks at you. she's not like that when she's with me." he laughed. 

"she is veery special. a veery special witch" he said.

"yeah. i like her too. very much. i thought she fancies you now-"

"well. she's not like other girls here. she knows who she fancies."  he patted my shoulder

"i won't get in the way. you're one lucky wizard" he said and i laughed. "thank you". when he left, i suddenly want to run down and confess before i miss the moment.

but sometimes we have to wait.

hermione was with harry and ron at the great hall. we only have days before the third task so i decided to do my apology later after dinner. i sat beside ginny and minded my own business while george was spending his time with angelina. 

i stared at her for quite a while.  i kept staring at her face, her hair in a messy bun, and her smile. merlin i've been damned. when they were about to leave, i grabbed hermione's bag and held her hand and casually walked like nothing happened. i felt her stiffened but decided to went with it. when everyone went to their own rooms, i dropped hermione's bag on the couch and pulled her in a tight hug. how i miss her in my arms.

"fred" she whispered as she buried her face on my chest

"i know, i missed you too" i whispered as i tighten my hug. i kissed the top of my head 

"i'm sorry on how i acted. i was-""attacked by the green monster of jealousy. george told me" i smiled as she laughed. i felt how my face turned red. my twin is a traitor.

she held my face between her hands and stared at me. "i will always choose you fred weasley.  you were the only one who made me ride a broomstick and did not regret getting hurt." i leaned my head to hers. 

"really? you'll choose me? over anything?" she smiled

"not over books fred. you know that " i laughed and leaned in to give her a kiss

"hermione?! where is-" ron pulled ginny to cover mouth when they walked in. hermione buried her face on my chest to save her from embarrassment while i gave my siblings a deadly look.

"ooops. sorry brother. need hermione. it's an emergency. i owe you!" she grabbed hermione and ran to their rooms. i went to our room and slumped into bed and groaned. 

Hermione's POV

i glared at ginny when we were already inside the dormitory. i was so embarrassed! the moment was so close. i was so ready when someone interrupted

"what's the emrgency?" i gave her a dark look and she gave me today's news.

"dad sent me this and will be released tomorrow" she said in a concerned tone. i read the front page and it's about how krum asked harry about their relationship status. and fred was on it too! him and krum had a "talk" about their feelings about me! she just made me look worse because of the 3 guys involved! 

"i will have a talk with viktor and fred tomorrow. Wanna help me catch a bug?" ginny nodded and grinned. this woman will be the death of my image. i can't believe she used me as her way to make into the front page again!

it was a gloomy morning, i decided to get up early and went to my routine. i used my special hair products to calm my hair with a little bit of magic. i wore my skinny jeans, black boots, a plain red shirt with sleeves and a gray jumper. i grabbed my bag with my mittens and scarf and cloak and went to eat breakfast. 

i saw fred and george discussing something private so i went to greet them

"hello fred, hey george. wanna have breakfast with me?" fred continued to agree with george but i felt his hand on mine.

"we'll figure out that part later gred. let's get something to eat" he nodded and joined us

"i'm starving too" george said as entered the great hall

"so any plans today?" i asked the twins as george sat opposite seats to be with angelina

"just making our secret plan for the next generation" fred said proudly as he poured his goblet with juice. i was in the mood for cereals and milk while i listened to george and fred's plan

"so you guys are planning to have your own joke shop" i said in a stern voice

"we were never meant to be a head boy like our prat of a brother granger" george grinned

"and that pranking is our special talent to bring joy to the world" fred continued 

"our only problem is how to tell mum that we dont' have plans on-"

"finishing our OWLS-"

"or NEWTS" they said as they finished each other's sentences. she rolled her eyes and smiled

"whatever makes you guys happy. just stop influencing students to cut classes" george and fred froze like their life depended on it. which was true

"granger. how could you say that" he said as he put his hand to where his heart was and patting it.

"honestly mia, the students need this." he said in a weak tone. i laughed and shook my head.

"well try figuring them out before i confiscate them." i said and kissed fred on the cheek as a sign of saying goodbye and pulled ginny out of the hall.

After 3 days....

it was the third task, it has been 5 hours and it was already dark, Fleur and Viktor came out fine but Harry and Cedric were still inside. i look around and the professors were already worried too. even though i have my jumper on, it still feels cold. a bad kind of cold.

" Mia, you alright? you look pale... here, wear this" he said and draped his cloak on my shoulders. i leaned my head on his shoulder, his hands holding mine.

"thanks fred.... i'm so scared. harry and cedric aren't out yet. something's really wrong." he sighed and nodded

"we all feel the same way mione. now calm down, he'll be out soon" ron said as he comforts ginny who was paler and more nervous than i was. George was with in between fred and angelina. the professors were planning to enter the maze when harry and cedric appeared on the ground with the triwizard cup! 

Everyone roared with happiness when Fleur screamed and we all stood up and saw why.

Cedric Diggory was dead. Ginny tried to run to harry but the crowd blocked the way and all we did was stare and listened to what happened.  

"he's back! he's back! Voldemort's back! Cedric.... he asked me to bring his body back! i couldn't leave him... not there!" he said crying... clinging to cedric's body. it was a devastating scene. harry was carried away by professor moody while everyone was in shock. but we weren't. the teachers were sending everyone back to the castle when we went to professor mcgonagall

"professor! harry was taken by professor moody" i said as i try to catch my breath

"Professor Dumbledore and Professor Snape are on their way. i will also join them so please escort the students back to the castle. it's not safe anymore" she said and left. i can feel goosebumps as i recall harry's voice

"you-know-who's back" i whispered. i can feel fred's arm tightened around me. 

"i know. this is a problem to all" he said as we escorted the students back with the other head boys and girls

after that night, we waited for harry to return to the common room

"i knew something was going to happen" i said as we all sat quietly on the floor. soaking up the warmth from the fireplace

"Everything's gonna be alright Mia, okay? i won't let anyone... even him, hurt you" he said 

george and ron were comforting ginny as they brought back food from the kitchen. 

we were eating when professor Mcgonagall entered. we all stood up waiting for harry's presence but he wasn't with her.

"is he alright professor?" she nodded

"yes. Mr. Potter is alright. he's just shock at what happened tonight. Professor Dumbledore sent him to the hospital wing to rest. you may visit him tomorrow morning with the molly and arthur" they all nodded as she left.

the next morning, we were all up and ran to the hospital wing. we saw harry sitting up as he pat the dog beside his bed, as he was visited by the other professors. Ginny approached harry's bed when the others left. she gave him a tight hug, as harry buried his face on her neck.

we walked to his bed and sat on the other side. i gave him a tight hug

"i'm so sorry harry we weren't there when you needed us" harry smiled.

"it's fine hermione. it's better that way. " ron sat beside him replacing ginny

"i'm sorry you had to experience it again" he said and patted his shoulder. 

"but we're here now. we got your back mate" george and fred said finishing their sentence.

"thanks guys. you were right hermione, Professor Moody was really off" he said and looked at me. i stared at him in confusion

"did something happen when he took you with him?" we looked at him with worried expressions

"yeah. he was a death eater. he was the one stealing from snape to brew polyjuice potion" i gasped and hugged him again

"i'm so sorry. where is the really mad-eye?" 

"he was in this chest as his prisoner" he said.

"and the death eater?" george asked

"was Mr. Crouch's son. Barty Crouch Jr. " we all went silent

"what a year." fred said. everyone nodded. 

Dumbledore held a special memorial for Cedric before the term ends. before we all went home. he told us that it was you-know-who's doing and that the ministry want to cover it up. 

it was our last day, the beauxbatons and dumstrang students bid goodbye to hogwarts and its students. i was talking to angelina and ginny when Viktor walked toward us and pulled me close to him

"write to me." he said and smiled and gave me a letter. i blushed and nodded. angelina and ginny were giggling behind me as i rolled my eyes. we also saw Katherine as she bid goodbye with fleur and her sister. she saw us and ran to us giving a tight hug. 

"so hermione tell me about viktor because he doesn't keep his mouth shut when you're the subject" she ginned as she missed our company. i'm sure she had her own problems but we saw her during the memorial and the 3rd task looking upset and scared.

i tuck the letter on my robes and pulled a camera out of my bag and took a photo with the girls.  

the boys approached us after the 2 schools left. we were at the black lake, letting time go by. the castle was quiet and we were still in shock so we went here. we were going home tomorrow as another term ended.

"i have a great idea. let's take a photo" i said as i wave my wand so that the camera will float 

Fred sat next to me and wrapped his arm on my shoulders, angelina on george's lap laughing, Harry and ginny being intimate as ever while Ron and katherine were back to back and smiled. the camera clicked and the photo appeared. we were all happy. i wave my wand and made duplicates. i looked at all of us as they were teasing each other as they looked at the photo

"next year's going to be different isn't it?" i looked at harry and ron

"yes" ron and harry said. harry smiled sadly at me and held his hand. ron's hand was on top of mine and harry's

"we're in this together" we nodded at each other, when another pair of hands joined.

"oh yeah.." fred and george smirked

"very different" katherine said and smiled

"it's gonna change alright" ginny said and laughed. i wrapped my arms into harry's and ron's necks "promise you'll write... all of you" i said

"no... of course i won't" ron said rolling his eyes.

"harry will... " i said smiling

"yeah every week" he said

"i'll be writing everyday" fred said putting his arm around me. i nudged him and laughed 

"you should fred weasley or i will be going to bulgaria alone" he rolled his eyes and gave me a back hug

"i'll always be in fred's letters since i'm too lazy to write..." george said as he gave fred a high five.

"very funny. i'll write to you hermione... every hour" ginny said and laughed

"No way sister, i'll write to you Mia every minute" fred said proudly

"of everyday" we all said and laughed

"hey my birthday is on august, My parents will be planning a very formal party, but i want to celebrate it with you guys earlier" Katherine said as we decided to return to the castle to pack up.

"it'd be nice to party. just owl us" ron said

"what should we wear?" i asked

"well... muggle clothes" she smiled at us. harry and i looked at each other and grinned

"guess we'll be celebrating it like muggles" ron said as we nodded

"but, why not your place instead?" george asked. Katherine gave us a small smile

"well... apparently my family are like Draco's Family. purebloods. if you know-"

"we know" we all said

"that's why i decided to celebrate it with you guys in my own apartment in london"

"count us in then" harry said

"yeah, we need a major party before going back to school next year" ron said

"i'll be at the burrow after spending my time with my parents" i said to fred

"you should.. because i'm gonna miss you" he said hiding his head on my hair

"i'm gonna miss you too freddie" i said

We did different activities before we return home. we visited hagrid who will be "on vacation" with madame maxime even though we know something else is planned. Harry decided to give fred and george the money he won at the tournament siince Cedric's Parents refused his offer by giving the gold to them. 

During the trip to 9 AND 3/4, we were all at the compartment and ginny and i decided to show harry, ron and the twins what we caught.

i opened my bag and gave ginny the jar with a beetle in it

"Hermione, why do you have a beetle in your hand?" Fred said in a very nervous way

"well hermione and i went to collect a beetle 2 weeks ago and caught a very interesting one" i laughed at ginny as she passed the jar to harry

"no way 'Mione. you girls caught her" i nodded and smiled

"what are you gonna do with her?" ron asked as he stared at the beetle

"are you gonna hex her?" ginny asked

"hand her over to the ministry?"

"i will keep her for a while" i grinned as fred kissed my shoulder. george laughing

"guess our bright little witch can cause trouble like us fred"

"hey guys!" katherine visted our compartment "what's with the bug?" everyone laughed

"well....well.....well.... Look at here, a blood traitor and a mudblood. what a happy family." malfoy suddenly appeared. katherine whipped her wand and transformed malfoy into a ferret once again. while George and Ginny hexed crabbe and goyle and ran off. everyone started laughing.

"such a cute ferret. why don't we give you a collar so that parkinson can identify her furry boyfie?"  she gave him a collar with his name and carried him.

"wait til m father hears about this" george mimicked malfoy's voice in a squeaky way

"how'd you do that?" Ginny asked as she continue to laugh

"well before i left i asked the real professor moody how to do that and we did get along just fine" she winked and laughed.

"well that i want to know" he said.

"careful george. tease her and she'll transfigure you into a tissue" fred said.

"if you'll excuse me, i will bring this ferret to our compartment so that parkinson will find his drakey" we waved goodbye and laughed at the term Drakey

"first ginny with the bat bogey hex, now katherine? really?!" and we laughed.... sometimes you don't need magic..you just really need good and caring friends...

FRED'S POV

it was the last week of july when hermione sent me her latest letter. attached to it was a photo of her at amsterdam with her parents. i smiled and put the photo on the table.... i miss her... i always write to her.. i kept all her letters in a box under my bed... 

Dear 'mione,

Hey Mia, thanks for sending me your photo at amsterdam. you look beautiful as always. when will you stay here? ginny and george are missing you.... i miss you. i have something for you too... once you wear it, it'll know you're the owner when you take it off... when someone wears it it'll turn into a miniature lion to bite them... i hope you'll like it... katherine just sent us the invitation for her party... it's in 3 weeks... what's a Maquerade??? is it muggle stuff???  because i can't understand it... mum allowed us to go to the party... how about you?? i want to see you soon... please?

i already sent my letter when george barged in

"you need to help me fred... i don't know what to give her"

"why ask me gred? ask ginny"

"forge  i asked her but she was doing something else... and that she's busy... she almost hexed me you know that?" he's panicking

"gred, you do know that whatever you give her she'll always love it..."

"are you sure?"

"no... because that's 'mione... fine let's go"

it has been a month since george and angelina broke up because angelina fell in love with a foreign guy in switzerland. My brother was broken and sad when he and katherine were writing after 2 weeks of being single. Now he want to confess and ask her to go out with him officially.  

We went to diagon alley to look for a gift. i'll be giving her a notebook since she loves to write, but i designed it... the notebook smells like george and when she opens it she'll hear george's voice... thank you! i am awesome

"how about that?" he said pointing to a glittery dress. i made a face. my brother's taste is horrid. 

"she won't wear that..." i said

"how about that?" he points at the broomstick. i rolled my eyes 

"she already has one" he groaned and left the store.

"why don't we go to a muggle store instead?" he looked at me for a minute and nodded. we went to london roaming around each muggle store. we also exchange our gold for muggle money.

we found a muggle store selling different kinds of muggle stuff. I saw george grab a camera and stared at it

"this one." i nodded. the saleslady told us it was the latest version called instax. we also bought 3 kinds of films for her. we went back to diagon alley when my brother saw a necklace on display. 

"this is beautiful" it's a necklace with a pendant, but the pendant can turn into a mirror.

"it's a wishing mirror..." the old lady said as we went inside to look at it closer

"how does it work?" george asked

"look at the mirror and asked for someone who you want to see" she said smiling

"i want to see katherine" he said. the mirror revealed katherine, sword fighting inside her house...

"how much for this then?" 

"150 galleons" he nodded

"deal" he said and put it in a bigger paper bag with the camera. he went home smiling. 

we went home and looked for something to eat.

"why don't you just asked hermione if she knows what she likes?" i said

"she's too busy.. she's at amsterdam" he said

"oh right, travelling but she'll- OWL!" we both ducked our heads on the table. that owl needs to learn how to land. 

"what's happening here?" mum asked as she removed her gardening gloves

"nothing mum... harold here had quite a landing" george said as he grabbed the letter from harold. he suddenly waved in my face

"forge it's for you" he said and grinned

it's from my 'mione!!... i ran to our room and opened it.

dear fred,

hi fred!  i might stay at the burrow the day before katherine's birthday... thank you for the ring! i love it.... i still don't know what my gift is for katherine... a masquerade is a party while people are wearing masks... but as katherine said you have to wear a mask but  only for your eyes not the whole face... now you understand freddie??? i guess you'll be cute in a old fashion dress robes... haahahaha... i miss you too freddie... i bought this for you... a pen that turns into a wand... just let it scan it and once you push the button either you want to write or turn it into your wand... you're welcome... i'll see you then freddie... say hi for mrs. weasley for me...

as i pushed the button it turned into my wand... i tested it and it worked! thank you hermione! i put it on my pocket and grabbed my real wand and went downstairs when mum screamed.
