22:26, 11 March 2020His life was sadly going back to normal the past few days ever since he told Y/N to back off.
Why sadly, you ask?
Well if you think about it, was there ever a point in time where Jimin actually felt happy?
The answer is no.
There was only those moments where he felt like he could settle for being 'The other man', but he couldn't. If he was giving one person all of his love, why would he settle for anything less than that.
He was once again walking home from work when he caught sight of a familiar tall figure.
"Matt?" he called out and as he expected the man turned around, looking at Jimin, with a girl under his arm, glued to his side, giggling.
"Oh, hey neighbor!" the taller male was visibly drunk.
"What are you doing here?" he slurred his words.
"Was walking home from work and saw you across the street, are you going home?"
Jimin eyed the girl carefully.
She had bright blonde hair, the ends of it hot pink to match her pretty lipstick.
She was in all black clothing, matching Matt very nicely.
"Sorry man, got a date to go back to." he smiled down at the girl before waving Jimin off and going back into the bar he walked out of.
Jimin was far too tired to connect the puzzle pieces, but the walk home is too long for him not to overthink what just happened.
What the hell were his neighbors doing?
When did something as simple as infidelity become so complex.
So deep in thought, he got home sooner than he expected, catching Y/N on the stairs, just like he did every night.
Usually she would just stay quiet, obediently following what Jimin told her to do more than a week ago.
He wouldn't even spare her a greeting to acknowledge her on those days, because he was trying to stay away too.
It felt like being in rehab and she was his drug.
"Hi." he said, passing by her, taking his keys out of his pocket.
"Jimin." she stood up right after him leaping over the stairs, as if the one word triggered a waterfall of actions and emotions.
"Can you please come up to my place? I need to talk to you about something." she put a hand on his forearm that he shook off lightly, as if the touch burnt him.
He unlocked the door and looked up at her shaking his head.
"Sorry I'm busy."
She didn't push further, even though a bit of him hoped that she would.
If she asked him once more, he would have given in.
So much for strong character and pride.
Jimin apparently had none of that.
He went up to his apartment once again being greeted by the sight of his wife, just tonight she was a bit different.
Sora was wearing a tea length red dress, her hair curled and in a ponytail, with light makeup on.
"You going somewhere?" he asked, not sounding quite interested, as always.
"Yea...I have a meeting." she said, putting her heels on.
"Don't wait up." she said before rushing out of the apartment.
Something about it felt oddly familiar.
Reminded him of their college days, before they were even dating.
He hurried over to the balcony, just in time to see her get in the passenger seat of a shiny black BMW and drive off.
Y/N was still sitting out there, staring at the car drive off, before her gaze snapped up to Jimin on the balcony as if she knew he would be there.
Jimin could see some kind of determination settle in her eyes, but he went back inside his room and only seconds later there was loud banging on his front door.
"Just a second!" he rushed out of his room, shirt unbuttoned and hanging off of his shoulders as he opened the door.
"Are you aware that your wife just got into a car with another man, kissed him and left?!" Y/N made herself welcome, zooming right past him.
"Yea, so?" his face remained the same.
"So? So?! She's fucking cheating on you and you are aware of it and not doing anything!" Y/N kept arguing.
"Yea and that's exactly what I've done too. What's your point?"
"My point is that I thought you were trying to make your marriage better. I thought that you told me to fuck off because you wanted to make a difference and try again with her!" she was crying now just a few small tears, but crying none the less.
"I told you to fuck off because I'm sick of waiting for love. And I'm not gonna ask you or Sora to love me, so I'll just stay a single married man."
"A single married man?" she couldn't help but laugh at the name.
"Yea...I'll find someone one day. Someone I'll be happy with." he said, but honestly he himself didn't believe in those words.
"And there is no chance of that person ever being me?" she asked and Jimin's mind ran over the idea.
He saw Matthew with another girl a few minutes ago, but it wasn't his place to make the announcement.
"You said it yourself, you love Matty."
"I do, but our relationship isn't much different from your marriage as far as I can see. The only difference is our love didn't grow into hate over the years because we didn't force it."
Jimin stopped for a moment, no longer rushing her to leave his apartment.
"What I'm saying, you and Sora seem to be opening up your relationship just now, while me and Matthew have been doing that for a long time." she said, grabbing a hold of Jimin's hand.
"He's been seeing someone else ever since we moved here and our relationship has been purely created because it was the logical move. I love Matthew, he's my best friend, but neither of us can help it if we feel like we might have a shot at loving someone else." she told him, searching Jimin's eyes for any sign of emotion.
Something clicked in Jimin's mind.
"Alright..." he sighed.
"Can you please leave, I need to think this through...please?" he held her hand in his own, giving it a small squeeze before Y/N left through the front door, shyly waving at him.
Jimin sat in the kitchen eating dinner alone as he tried to finally fit all the pieces together and no matter how much he reconsidered his moves, it all started with waiting up for Sora tonight.
He was on the couch watching a movie and practically dozing off until the jiggle of the keys in the lock woke him up completely, some nervous feeling settling in his stomach.
Sora's hair was out of the ponytail now, no more makeup on her face, but a beautiful glow replacing it.
"Jimin..." he voice quivered, as if she was caught doing something horrible, and she made her way to the bedroom in a hurry.
Jimin followed after her, only to find her sitting on the bed.
"I told you not to wait up for me." she said, the guilty making the air around her heavy.
"Do you like him a lot?" he asked and she was like a deer caught in headlights.
The cold act she always had around Jimin was breaking away, because it wasn't strong enough to hide this happiness she was feeling now.
"I...I'm sorry?" she asked, trying to act offended.
"I did the same Sora. I'm not gonna judge you, nor will I get mad." he said sitting next to her.
"I just wanna talk like we used to when we were younger."
The feeling that crawled through their bodies was hard to explain but both of them were craving a friend now, and when you think about it, that's exactly what they were always supposed to be.
"Can you help my unzip my dress?" she smiled at him and after he did he jumped into bed, pulling the sheets over him, waiting for her to come too.
While she was brushing her teeth, with the bathroom door opened behind her Jimin began talking.
He talked and talked, with no end to his explaining.
"I saw you tonight when I got home and it felt like what we used to be before, when you were getting ready for a date and I was staying home studying. You looked really pretty for him. I really wanna know who this dude is. You always used to tell me about your crushes back then."
Sora finally laid in bed, turned on her side to face Jimin as she started to shyly speak up too, the feeling of this rediscovered friendship still foreign to her.
"It's Jungkook."
"You mean...no way! You're fucking with your grandfathers protege!" Jimin began to tease her playfully.
"No wonder your lady boner for me was gone, you only seem to like your higher up's." he said, not meaning to make her feel bad, but she was quick so hold his hand.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry for messing with you all these years, but at one point I just lost any kind of feeling for what I was doing."
"It's okay. We're okay now." he smiled at her and after a few more hours of talking, they finally fell asleep.
Finally found a way to lead this to a happy ending!!! YAY!
