Chapter 28

  I held the warm mug containing hot chocolate tightly in my palms, taking a slow sip. The warm liquid glided down my throat causing me to smile. I sighed happily as the fall wind blew lightly around me and made the leaves slowly blow across the graveled drive. My hair swept back away from my face with the wind and I took a deep breath of relaxation. The wooden porch swing creaked quietly every time I went back, swinging it slowly. It was a little chilly out, but it was quiet and peaceful.

  Niall didn't want me to come outside knowing that Megan was taken off the porch, but I assured him that I would be fine. He finally let me go out by myself after Harry and Zayn came back, empty handed. 

  I just hope she's okay.

  Olivia is petrified to leave Louis' side and has stuck to him like glue. She constantly has to be touching him in some way, whether it be holding his hand or with his arm wrapped tightly around his waist. Louis is clearly enjoying it though and won't ever complain about her clinginess. It's quite adorable actually. They would make such an adorable couple. I hope I can find someone like that someday. Someone to love me endlessly and always be there for me. A sad sigh blew out of my mouth and floated away with the wind.

  I wish I had my journal with me so that I was able to release some steam. That is where everything goes. All of my emotions, when I'm sad, angry, happy, I write it all down. I would normally take it into the large oak in my back yard and climb up to my favorite branch high in the tree. I would lean up against the trunk of the tree, curling one leg up and tossing the other off to hang from the branch. I miss home, my mom, the tree, everything. I hope I get back to it soon. Maybe my life will go back to normal soon enough. Although, I'm not sure if I will be able to have a normal life again. I smiled sadly at all the memories and took another sip from the lavender colored mug. I closed my eyes, leaning my head back against the wood of the swing.

  I heard the crunching sound of a car driving over the gravel and my eyes shot open in a panic. I looked out trying to peer past the corner hidden by the trees. I saw something black come into view and that was my cue to frantically stand and run to the door. I kept ahold of the mug in my left hand and grasped the doorknob with my right. Turning around, I saw the large vehicle turning the corner and coming into clear view. I twisted the knob and my eyes widened in shock as I stared down at it.

  It wouldn't budge.

  I tried over and over again turning it frantically, trying my hardest to open the barrier between me and safety. I leaned my shoulder into the door and pushed with all my might, slamming into it with all of my body weight. It didn't move so I began pounding against it, shouting with fear lacing every word.

  "Niall!!! Please open the door!" I screamed my lungs out before I was cut quiet, hearing a gun fire.
