Chapter 7

When the sky is still dark yet dawn is approaching, Ryder wakes up. After he had that vision yesterday, he started feeling different. He felt a renewed strength and energy flow through his blood vessels. He felt hope start to rise.Ryder also had a strong feeling that Chase was alive. He could feel his pup and he knew he was in trouble. But Ryder also felt something else. He knew he had an opportunity to save Chase, but his time was limited.

This time Ryder was following and listening to his instincts, unlike the last time when something kept telling him to check on Chase but he just thought that he was over-exaggerating about Chase being alone outside in the night.

Ryder gets off of his beanbag and stretches his arms in the air. "Chase, I'm coming for you" he says. He grabs some clean clothes and takes the elevator down. Ryder walks out and goes to the bathroom. After brushing his teeth and showering up. Ryder changes into his clean clothes, which is a blue pair of jeans and a brown belt, and lastly he slips on a navy blue button-down shirt that has long sleeves.

Ryder puts extra gel in his hair and brushes it up. The results in the end are stuck up spikes that look shiny and glossy from the extra gel."Good, now it's time to eat and get going" he says. He leaves the bathroom and goes to the kitchen. After eating an energizing breakfast, Ryder walks out of the kitchen.

He takes the elevator back up to the mission room. Ryder turns on his pup-pad that hasn't been on for days and he pulls out the sliding mechanism. "PAW Patrol to the Lookout!" he calls.

"Huh? Why is Ryder calling us so early?" Skye says. She walks out of her pup-house to see the other pups tiredly emerging from their houses. "Why is Ryder calling us so early?" Marshall yawns. "It must be some important news he got" Zuma says. "Let's find out" Rocky starts running to the elevator.

All of the pups get in and Marshall is the last to get in. He sleepily crashes into the pups. Marshall yawns. "Sorry pups. I'm just tired" he says. The pups giggle and the elevator doors close, then it starts going up.

When the pups walk out of the elevator, they see Ryder slipping on a black leather jacket. "Uh Ryder? What are you doing?" Rocky asks. "Wow! You look nice" Marshall wags his tail. "You look cool, dude" Zuma says. "Thanks pups. I called you pups up here because I have some things to explain" Ryder says, as he puts on short black boots.

"What is it?" Marshall asks. "Yesterday when I was in the woods, I had fallen asleep by the river and I had a vision of when Chase was pup-napped" Ryder begins. The pups look at each other and gasp. "After the vision, I started feeling different" Ryder continues. "I felt a new strength flow through my body and I felt hope start to rise. I know Chase is alive, I can feel him." "So what are you trying to say?" Rocky asks. "What I'm trying to say is that I'm going on a sole mission to save him. But something deep down is telling me that I only have a limited amount of time to save him."

"How are you gonna save him if you don't know how much time you have? What if you only have two hours?" Zuma questions. "I don't know how much time I have but I'm still gonna seize this opportunity. It's a chance for Chase is to be saved from death and it's a chance for me and him to be reunited" Ryder says.

"Aren't we gonna help you? We're a team" Rocky says. "No, I have to do this alone. This mission is unlike the missions we perform together" Ryder says. "What do you mean?" Skye asks. "It's gonna take a lot of brain work and detective work. I need to be able to move through the crowd without drawing attention. If I take you guys, we will for sure draw attention" Ryder explains.

"Why are you trying to blend in with the crowd? And why are you wearing that cool looking outfit instead of your rescue uniform?" Marshall questions. "Look, on this mission, I'm have to try and get information from people who might know where Chase is. I wanna look like a normal person so they won't think anything suspicious about me.If they think suspicious about me, they're not gonna really give me any information. You pups are not gonna really understand, but I need to blend with the crowd. My rescue uniform makes me stand out" Ryder explains.

"I kinda get you" Marshall says. "But how are you gonna find Chase? The world is massive and you only have a limited time." "I have a plan" Ryder says.

Ryder takes Chase's pup-tag and opens it up. "I should've thought of this the moment Chase was taken" Ryder says. He finds a small chip in the pup-tag and takes it out.

(This part about the pup-tag is made up. I'm just making it up)

Ryder inserts the chip inside his pup-pad and a recording pops up. The pups watch with curiosity at what Ryder is doing. "This is a recording of when Chase was taken. This is a voice recording" Ryder says and then presses the recording. It starts playing

"Ahhhhhhh!" Chase screams.

"Oh my, that scream sounds horrifying" Skye says. Ryder nods and listens intently.

"Get off of me!" Chase yells."Hurry! Give me the knife!" a man commands.

The pups start getting tense as they listen to the recording, but Ryder remains calm and collected. He's trying to collect all of the information he can from the recording.

"Here you go, Blake" another man hands Blake a knife. "Ahhhh!" Chase screams when the knife cuts his flank. "Get off of me!""This pup is gonna make us a lot of money" Blake says.

Ryder then hears the last thing Chase screams.

"RYDER!" Chase yells. A man then says something in French and the footsteps fade away as they walk away.

Ryder stays staring ahead with wide eyes and he breathes heavily. "Are you okay?" Skye asks."I'm fine" Ryder stands up. "I have to save Chase."Ryder puts Chase's pup-tag and his pup-pad in his pocket. "What was the point in that recording?" Rocky asks. "I picked up some useful information" Ryder says. "Those men are French, I can hear it from their accent. There's also about three to four men who pup-napped Chase and one of their names is Blake. I'm gonna get the French part translated by Francois."

Ryder then grabs a small luggage and starts packing up some stuff. He packs a few pairs of clothes, his hair gel, his comb, Chase's uniform, and the spike trap. "Why are you taking the spike trap?" Zuma asks. "You never know. Any evidence could come of use" Ryder says. Ryder and his pups take the elevator to the basement. "What are we doing in the basement?" Rocky asks. "I'm getting my pistol" Ryder says.

"I never knew you have guns" Marshall says. "Well now you know" Ryder says. Ryder pulls a silver case out of a shelf in the basement and puts it on the floor. The pups gather around and he opens it. "Woah!" they all breath. There were many different guns and bullets of all sizes and shapes. "What are you gonna do with a gun?" Skye questions. "I don't know who I'm dealing with but I do know that I'm dealing with real cruel and tough criminals. These people who pup-napped Chase aren't Mayor Humdinger. Meaning, they're real  criminals. Mayor Humdinger is just a big baby" Ryder explains. "I'm only gonna use this pistol if I have to."

Ryder takes a black pistol and loads it with tiny yellow bullets. He also takes some bigger bullets and puts them in his pocket. Ryder closes the silver case and puts it away. "I'm ready to go" Ryder says.

Ryder and his pups are now infront of the Lookout. "I know you pups will look after the Lookout and perform the rescues while I'm gone, right?" Ryder asks. "Of course we will" Marshall says. "Ryder" Skye says in a low voice. "Yes Skye" Ryder answers. "I'm sorry for yelling at you yesterday" Skye apologizes.Ryder picks up the small pup and hugs her. "I needed it" he says. "You opened up my mind. While I was sitting at the river, I thought about everything you said and I knew you were right." Skye licks Ryder on the cheek with her little tongue. Ryder kisses the Cockapoo on the cheek and puts her down.

"You all are the best pups ever" Ryder and his pups share a group hug. "Now I have to go. I'll be back when I'm back" Ryder waves at his pups as he starts walking away. The pups say goodbye to him.

Ryder walks up to Katie's Pet Parlor. It's very early and he knows she might still be sleeping. So he calls her from his pup-pad. "Hey Ryder" Katie yawns. "Katie, I'm sorry to disturb your sleep but could you come out to speak with me for a moment?" Ryder asks."Sure, I'll be out five minutes" Katie says.

Katie gets out of bed. She rushes over to her dresser and combs her long blonde hair. "I need to dress into something more proper. I'm not gonna come out infront of Ryder in these pajamas" Katie says, with a giggle. She gets into her normal pink dress and then rushes to the bathroom.After brushing her teeth, Katie meets Ryder outside infront of her parlor. "Woah!" Katie is taken aback when she sees what Ryder is wearing. "Wow...you look...amazing" she breaths. "Where are you going so early?"

"I'm doing something very important and serious" Ryder begins. "Katie, I need you to look after my pups until I return." "Where are you going?" Katie asks. "I'm going to save Chase. I'm going on a sole mission and while I'm gone, I need you to care for my pups and make sure they keep the Lookout clean" Ryder explains. "I promise I won't let you down" Katie says. "I know you won't" Ryder smiles softly. "Be careful on this sole mission of yours" Katie says. "I'm always careful. Now I gotta go" Ryder says.

"Bye" Katie waves. Ryder waves back and continues on his way to the bay.

Ryder arrives at the bay when an inch of the sun peeks from the horizon. He finds Captain Turbot and Francois getting ready to go fishing on the sea. "Woah! Ryder! Where are you going?" Captain Turbot asks. "I don't have time for chat. I'm gonna miss my flight. Francois, I need you to translate this French to English for me" Ryder says. "Sure" Francois says.

"This is a recording from when Chase was pup-napped. But I need you to translate the French part at the end" Ryder says. Ryder plays it for Francois and Francois listens carefully. When it's done, Ryder looks at Francois. "What did he say?" Ryder asks. "The man said, 'hurry, we're gonna miss the plane to Paris'" Francois translate.

"That means Chase has been taken to Paris" Ryder says. "Thanks Francois. I gotta go now."

Ryder takes a cab to the airport. When he arrives, he goes through everything you gotta go through in an airport before boarding the plane. Ryder boards the plane to Paris when the sun is halfway in the sky. "I'm coming for you, Chase. I'm coming" Ryder says to himself as he looks out of the window on the plane.

Ryder has 48 hours to find and save Chase, before Chase is loaded onto the ship and killed for his fur. Time is ticking for the both of them. And only time will reveal their fate.
