Epilogue Primo

Faye

The sound of a very dramatic, very suffering sigh echoes from the other side of the bedroom.

I smirk, glancing up from where I'm neatly folding Yoko's sweaters into her suitcase.

Across the room, my wifeโ€”yes, my wifeโ€”is currently sprawled across the bed, face buried in the pillows, groaning like she's being subjected to the worst form of torture imaginable.

"Packing is the worst," she grumbles into the fabric, her voice muffled.

I chuckle. "You say that as if I'm not the one doing ninety percent of the work."

She lifts her head just enough to glare at me, eyes narrowed, lips set in the perfect pout. "Exactly. I hate it, so you should do it for me."

I raise an eyebrow. "Should I? Do I look like your personal maid, Mrs. Peraya-Apasra?"

Yoko grins, completely shameless. "No, you look like my very devoted, very loving wife who would do anything to make me happy."

I exhale, shaking my head fondly, becauseโ€”she's not even wrong.

"You're impossible," I murmur, zipping up the last of our suitcases.

"And you love it," she sings, rolling onto her side to watch me with an amused smirk.

I give her a look, but my lips twitchโ€”because she's right. I do love it. I love her. Every single insufferable, ridiculous, maddeningly adorable part of her.

With the final suitcase packed and lined up by the door, I stretch my arms over my head, exhaling deeply. "There. We're done."

Yoko immediately perks up, like she hasn't been whining for the last twenty minutes.

"Finally!" She sits up, her brown eyes shining with excitement. "That means we're officially ready for Edinburgh tomorrow."

I nod, smiling at the thought. "Mhm. Tomorrow, we start a new chapter."

She bounces a little on the bed, visibly excited. But then, her gaze softens, and she tilts her head slightly. "How are you feeling?"

I pause, considering her question.

How do I feel?

Excited. Nostalgic. A little bit surreal.

Going back to Edinburghโ€”where it all began for meโ€”but this time, with her. My Yoko. My love. My future.

I breathe in deeply before meeting her gaze. "Happy," I answer honestly. "Really, really happy."

Her smile is so bright, so full of love, that it knocks the breath from my lungs. Thenโ€”her mischievous expression returns.

"So," she drawls, crawling closer until she's perched at the edge of the bed, smirking up at me. "Now that packing is done, what's next, oh great responsible wife?"

I roll my eyes but reach for her hand, tugging her to her feet. "Come on."

She blinks in curiosity as I lead her toward the balcony doors, sliding them open to reveal the cool night air.

Outside, the sky stretches vast and endless above us, a sea of stars twinkling against the dark canvas of the night.

Yoko laughs softly, glancing up before side-eyeing me with a teasing glint. "You really bought this house just for the view, huh?"

I lift a brow, playing it cool. "What makes you think that?"

She snorts, unconvinced. "Please. You're obsessed with stargazing. I bet the realtor didn't even get to finish their pitch before you threw your money at them."

I shrug, unbothered. "If I did, then clearly, it was worth it."

Yoko shakes her head fondly, then leans into my side, wrapping her arms around my waist.

"It is," she murmurs, resting her head against my shoulder.

I press a kiss to her hair, breathing her in, letting the quiet peace of the moment settle around us.

Above us, the stars shine bright and endless.

I exhale slowly, letting the stillness settle between us, my arms tightening around her waist as we stand on our balcony, beneath a sky that stretches infinitely above us.

"Remember our first stargazing date?" I murmur against her hair.

Yoko hums, shifting in my arms, her hands lightly tracing patterns against the fabric of my shirt. "Of course, I do. I fell asleep on you."

I chuckle, my lips curving against her temple. "You passed out within minutes."

She groans, burying her face into my shoulder. "Ugh, why are you bringing that up now?"

"Because it was adorable," I tease, brushing my fingers through her hair. "You insisted you wouldn't fall asleep, that you could totally stay up and admire the stars with me. And then? You curled up against me like a cat and knocked out cold."

Yoko huffs, nudging me playfully. "Well, in my defense, you're really comfortable."

"Oh?" I smirk, tilting her chin up gently, my gaze locking onto hers. "So what you're saying is, you used me as a pillow?"

Her lips twitch. "A very warm, very firm, veryโ€”" she pauses, her eyes flickering down to my chest before quickly looking awayโ€”

"โ€”uh, well-built pillow, yes."

I laugh softly, leaning down until our noses almost brush. "Well, Mrs. Peraya-Apasra, you're welcome to use me as a pillow anytime."

Yoko blushes, hard. She tries to act unbothered, but I see the way she bites her lip, the way she shifts slightly in my hold, like she's trying to compose herself.

God, she's so beautiful.

"You're flirting with me," she accuses, narrowing her eyes.

"I'm always flirting with you," I say smoothly, leaning in closer, brushing my lips just barely over hers. "I mean, what else should I do when I have the most breathtaking woman in the world as my wife?"

Her breath hitches.

And for a moment, we just stay like thatโ€”so close, so wrapped up in each other that the rest of the world ceases to exist.

Then, she breaks first.

"Stop looking at me like that," she mumbles, turning away to hide her face in my shoulder.

I smirk. "Like what?"

"Like you're still trying to seduce me, even after we've gotten married."

I chuckle, pressing a lingering kiss to the side of her head. "Darling, I was seducing you before we even got together. Marriage isn't going to change that."

Yoko groans dramatically, but her arms tighten around me, and I know she's not actually complaining.

We fall into a comfortable silence after that, standing together beneath the open sky, the cool night breeze brushing against our skin.

The stars are brighter tonight. Or maybe, they just feel brighter.

Maybe, it's because for the first time in both our lives, we're completely free.

No more hiding. No more fear. No more obstacles standing between us.

Just us. Just this. Just the quiet, unshakable truth that we belong to each other.

Yoko exhales deeply, tilting her head back to look at the sky. "It's so vast."

I nod, following her gaze. "Mhm."

She's quiet for a moment. Then, she whispers, "I like this. Just... being here, with you."

I look at her then, really look at herโ€”the woman who walked into my life so boldly, so full of fire and sharp words, challenging me in ways I never expected.

The woman who, despite everything, chose to stay.

"So do I," I murmur.

She turns to me, and in her eyes, I see everythingโ€”our past, our present, our forever.

And then, softly, she asks, "Do you ever wonder how we got here?"

I breathe out a quiet laugh. "All the time."

Because if you had told me back thenโ€”back when she was my loud, insufferable, argumentative student, back when I was too guarded, too closed off to even consider loveโ€”that one day, I'd be standing here, married to her, ready to follow her to a new chapter in our lives together...

I wouldn't have believed it.

But here we are.

I reach for her hand, threading our fingers together.

"Everything led us here," I tell her, pressing my lips against the back of her palm. "Every moment, every word, every fight, every lesson. Every single thing that made us who we are."

She swallows, blinking rapidly, like she's trying not to cry.

I smile softly, cupping her cheek. "You once asked me what words mean the most to me," I whisper.

She nods, barely breathing.

"It's you," I say simply. "Every word you've ever said to me, every promise, every confession. Every 'I love you.' Those are the words of my heart, Yoko. And they always will be."

Yoko lets out a tiny, shaky laugh, her eyes brimming with warmth, with emotion, with everything.

"God, you're so sappy."

I smirk. "You love it."

"I do," she whispers, leaning up, pressing her lips to mine.

And under the endless sky, with the stars shining above us, I know one thing for certain.

Thisโ€”this love, this life, this foreverโ€”It's ours.

And I will carry her in my heart, always.

(Yes, it'll be THAT soon.)

The story of Professor Vanessa Evans will NOT be about Faye and Yoko, it will be a brand new series, a brand new narrative and it will be the moment where I am steering away from writing FanFiction AU for FayeYoko (I know, I know.)
