16 ZAPPED

THE FINAL CHAPTER——————
THE TEPID breeze tickled against your skin, brushing through the locks of your hair. The sun drifted low toward the horizon, painting the sky in a beautiful tapestry of color—warm gold melting into shades of rose, lavender, and deep tangerine.
The waves in front of you caught the fading light, each crest shimmering like liquid fire before dissolving into soft foam on the sand. A gentle lukewarm breeze carried the salt-kissed air, mingling with the rhythmic hush of the ocean's song.
"It's five past eight. Do you think we missed them?" Kaminari spoke up, checking the time on his phone before he stuffed the device back into his pocket.
"I don't think so... are we on the wrong side of the beach? No one's here." You replied, taking a second to look around. "Mina told us to meet the class here, right?"
Although the scene around you was beautiful, it was deserted. No one else was around, and not a single sound dared to interrupt the serenity of the moment.
Silhouettes of seabirds glided effortlessly against the glowing backdrop, their wings cutting across the last ribbons of daylight. They cawed, the noise slicing through the silence... before it stopped. As if everything went dead.
Standing on the sand, side by side with the boy you secretly harbour feelings for, sun dipping into the sea and igniting the scene around you in beautiful hues, your mind drifted back. Although it was long past, you couldn't shake the scene in the ferris wheel out of your head.
You both had walked side by side countless times before, laughing and teasing like the closest of friends, but tonight felt different—charged with something unspoken.
You couldn't deny it now, surely there was no way. He must like you. He leaned in, stared at your very lips. There was no doubt, right?
You clenched your fists, mind anything but steady. There was only one way to find out the answer for good. And this might just be the best moment to do so.
"Hey, Kaminari..." you spoke up, voice quiet and soft. Your voice tore through the silence, and yet, he didn't seem to mind. With a slow, yet gentle look, he turned to look at you with a small, fond smile. He looked at you then, really looked, as if the whole ocean could have disappeared and he wouldn't have noticed.
"Yeah?" He replied, shoulders relaxed and at ease.
"Listen... there's something I need to tell you. I've been feeling this for a while now... and—and..." You stumbled and stuttered over your words, an awkward and flustered mess. You couldn't seem to shake off your nerves. This was the first time you've ever confessed, better yet, had an entire crush.
You've been confessed to before, yes. But taking notes off of someone else's failure in such a matter felt too immoral.
So, you paused for a moment, taking in a deep breath.
Denki sensed what you meant to say was important. However, there was a small hint of something else he sensed. So, he turned to face you completely, the soft expression on his face egging you to carry on. "...yeah?" He urged, his voice wavering slightly as he gulped.
You took a short breather, letting the air flow through your lungs. The breeze dragged through your hair, cooling your nerves. Then, with a final sentiment, you let it all fly free. "The truth is... I'm utterly, completely, hopelessly and idiotically in love with you." You stated, your eyes low and directed to the sand as you continued.
"You might not feel the same way... but—"
"I do." He interrupted, his voice firm as he stared at you. "I really do. I mean—ever since you walked into that class I knew you were pretty, heck, beautiful, even." He said, and slowly, you gathered your courage to look up at him. "When I heard that you were Mina's best friend, it made me drop all chances. There was no way she'd let me near you." He chuckled awkwardly, scratching the back of his head. "So, although I had a little crush on you, I was fine with settling it as friends. Either way, I got to be close to you. But even that felt like too much."
"...too much?" You repeated, slightly confused.
"You're way out of my league!" He admitted, flustered. "Like wayyyy. I don't deserve you, seriously. You're smoking hot. What are you doing liking a weirdo like me? That's why no matter what, the idea of you getting with... Todoroki, or some hot popular guy on your level stuck to me."
"What?! Don't say that about yourself!" You quickly scolded the blonde, completely surprised by his words. "It was love at first sight! As soon as I saw you in class on my first day, I knew you were the one I loved!"
Kaminari's cheeks reddened, and he looked to the side. His heart powered at a hundred miles an hour in his chest, and he could feel his palms grow sweaty. "W-well... I don't know... I just thought that someone as pretty and beautiful and cool as you couldn't possibly date me..." he mumbled, looking to the floor.
His eyes widened, and he immediately panicked, attempting to take back what he said. "N-not date! Who said anything about dating—I'm not—" he stumbled, growing shy and flustered. However, his panicked state died down when he saw the small, and fond smile on your lips. "Unless... that's what you want..." he whispered quietly.
Clearing his throat, he fixed his posture, standing up straight. "What I meant is... I really like you. I'm annoyed I didn't try this sooner, but...
will you be my girlfriend?"
And at that exact moment, time stopped. For you, the clock ceased ticking. Everything paused, holding the movement of the world for this particular moment. You have been waiting for this, dreaming for it. And for some odd reason, that dream always felt so out of reach, like the type of hope that couldn't be obtained in any universe.
Yet, in this universe, you found it. You found love. Something middle school you wouldn't be very proud of. You didn't understand the concept back then, none of the rage or whatnot.
But that feeling, that very click and moment when you saw Denki Kaminari changed it all.
Never in a million years would you have thought that someone would pop that question, and you'd actually say...
"Yes..."
You beamed, smile wide and bright. "I'd love to!" You continued, and a small, breathy chuckle left his lips.
The weight lifted instantly, replaced by a rush of joy as you both realised you had been holding the same secret. Standing beneath the fading light, with the rhythm of the tide as your witness, the friendship you once had shifted effortlessly into something deeper, something you had both been waiting for all along.
His hand curled up, shaky, sweaty. He quickly wiped it down on his trousers, hiding the motion from you, before he brought it up. His skin met yours, the soft feeling of his palm planted gently on your cheek.
His hand was warm, hot even. The touch was like an electric shock through your flesh, no pun intended. It was new, yet you knew that you had been yearning for this for a long time.
With a fond smile, you leaned into his touch, and for a moment, the world stilled once more.
The waves crashed and retreated. The wind tugged at your hair. His chest rose and fell with a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. You tilted your head slightly, your smile faltering into something softer, more vulnerable, an unspoken question in your eyes.
He answered without words.
Closing the small distance between you, he brushed his fingers lightly over yours, letting them tangle—testing, asking, hoping. When you didn't pull away, when instead you leaned closer, he bent down until your face was only inches from his.
Your lips met gently, like the first touch of tide on untouched sand. A kiss that was more discovery than certainty—soft, tender, lingering. The world around you blurred, leaving only the taste of salt on your lips, the warmth of closeness, and the wild, heady feeling of stepping into something new.
When you both finally pulled back, breathless and a little shy, you laughed again, quieter this time, as if afraid to break the spell. He squeezed your hand, and you both knew—without needing to say it—that everything had just changed. For the better.
BOOM!
"AHHHHH!" A girlish, squealing scream ripped through his throat as a loud boom erupted around the two of you. He quickly pushed you behind him, his instincts kicking in to protect you from any danger.
However, instead of danger, up in the sky was a beautiful display.
The night sky bloomed with color, each firework unraveling like a flower in fast-forward. A blossom of gold scattered into sparks that lingered before fading into the dark.
You gasped, laughing under your breath at your own surprise, as well as Denki's loud screech. His hand instinctively found yours once more, squeezing like an anchor. Another firework arced upward, whistling, then burst into blue and silver rain. Your faces lit up with each flare, shadows shifting and softening in the glow.
Neither of you spoke at first — just the quiet awe of being caught in something unplanned, something bigger than you both.
"Perfect timing," Denki murmured, but it was less about the fireworks and more about you, the way your eyes reflected every spark.
You leaned against his shoulder, the faint smell of the salty air and smoke drifting around you. "Too perfect."
When a golden burst lit the sky, its reflection shimmered in your eyes. He looked at you then—not at the fireworks, but at the way your face glowed with wonder. The world seemed to pause, suspended between bursts of light, and he whispered, "I don't think the sky has ever looked as beautiful as it does right now."
You squeezed his hand, his fingers warm and certain. Above them, colors flared and faded, but neither of them noticed—because the brightest thing that night wasn't in the sky at all.
And so you stood together, the world falling away beneath the brilliance overhead, until the night seemed like it had opened just for you both.
——————
CRACK!
"Shhhh!"
"I'm trying to listen!"
"Move it, tape arms!"
Hushed whispers sounded from behind the two of you, accompanied by the rustling of bushes. With one silent look, you and Kaminari, agreed.
Quietly, the two of you snuck forward, heading towards the bushes.
"I can't see—"
"Shut up!"
"Ouch!"
And with one swift movement, everything was revealed.
Behind the bushes, was your whole entire class.
Turns out, they had planned everything behind your back. The whole trip was scripted. From the moment you stepped out of the bus, from purposely stopping at the basketball stall. Heck, even the old man at that stall's wife was in on it. She gave you both candy apples and called you a couple to get the idea in your heads.
Momo used her quirk, going against her own morals about the economy, to create fireworks. And both Todoroki and Bakugo lit them up. Mina hid the phone before because they were never scheduled, and fireworks were never supposed to happen.
Todoroki and Jirou were seen sneaking about because the two were meant to keep an eye on you as the rest of the class set up, but they lost you just as you both got on the ferris wheel.
Turns out they had to scare people off the beach as well, and apparently Uraraka has a hidden talent for acting like a ghost.
Everyone had a role in helping. And in class 1A, you didn't only just find your soulmate, but every single classmate was a true friend for life. You couldn't have been happier in that moment.
