Chapter 12

A/N again, i am soooo sorry for the delay of this chapter and i know it's really short but it's just a quick filler, enjoy!

“Reid, we said don’t mention your mom. She’s trying to avoid the questions” Morgan half-yelled at his co-worker who looked ashamed as he walked back into the viewing room.

“I know” he mumbled “But it makes no sense for her to randomly visit her now. She must’ve known my mom was admitted eight years ago so why now?”

“It doesn’t matter” Hotch cut in “We need to find out as much information as we can about what’s going on here. We still don’t know what happened to her father, why she left England, where she’s been for the past sixteen years and why she rang us”

“I think we should leave her for a few hours” Gideon suggested “Make her think that we have more important things to do than just sit and talk to her. She has to eat eventually but when she asks for food just send her something basic. She has to sleep eventually too but when she starts getting tired don’t turn the lights off”

“Isn’t that a little harsh?” Reid frowned. Everyone quickly exchanged awkward glances before looking at him “What?”

“Listen…” Morgan was supposed to tell Reid but he just couldn’t bring himself to put him down like that. Instead, Hotch broke the news.

“Reid, you’re too close to this case” he said bluntly “I thought you’d be able to put your feelings aside to help her but apparently you’re too concerned to focus on getting the answers we need. You’re no longer allowed to be a part of this case”

“What?”

“Listen kid, we’re sorry” Morgan went to put a reassuring hand on his best friend’s shoulder but Reid shrugged it off.

“What do you mean ‘feelings’?” he frowned. There were more awkward looks exchanged between the team.

“You can’t help whether you like her or not but its clouding your judgement” Hotch said eventually.

“Fine” Reid muttered before leaving his team behind in the viewing room.
