18:08, 3 February 2013I don't own any of the characters apart from Melanie Malfoy. All of the characters belong to J.K. Rowling.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?" we both yelled at the same time. I raised my wand slightly higher in case I felt the need to use it against my twin. Cho obviously knew she wasn't needed so she kept a safe distance away. Pansy, however, didn't seem to have the same sort of sense.
"Are you really going to curse the person you're so clearly in love with?" she asked in a sickly sweet voice while batting her eyelids. I'm not gonna lie but that did throw me off a little bit. Draco also turned in confusion waiting for Pansy to explain, which she didn't.
"What the hell are you on about?" I asked disbelief clear in my voice. For some reason, she just looked triumphant before carrying on.
"Everyone can see you're in love with Draco Malfoy, why not admit it? He's never going to go for you though. I mean, why would he?" she used the same sickly sweet voice again. I had to laugh at her though, even if I had gone into shock.
"Well, you're definitely wrong there Pansy, I can tell you that for a fact! Now get out, I have to sort some things out with Mel," he sneered at her. When he turned back to me he had a smirk plastered on his face, which I returned immediately.
She looked a bit taken aback at being talked to by Draco like that, but she walked out the room nonetheless, while shooting me an evil look in the process. I aimed my smirk at her and I could see her thinking something over in her head. After a couple of minutes, she decided to leave the room.
"Why did you bring Pansy in here?" I asked disgusted. His smirk just widened as he raised his wand again. I could hear Cho moving behind me and knew she wanted to get to the door, but I was blocking her way. I wasn't about to move though, I had some things to question my dear twin about.
"What? Are you jealous?" I laughed humourlessly in reply.
"What of a pug? No way. I just thought you said you weren't allowed to bring anyone up here?" Again, I smirked before the humourless laugh left my mouth.
"Well you clearly didn't listen to that did you?" he yelled at me.
"I wanted to get out of here! I hate being in this place! Every time I wished I could come here and now I'm here for thatreason! How would you feel Drake? Do NOT try and blame this on me!" I shouted and then sent the first spell I could think of at Draco.
He deflected it easily, but was staring at me in shock. Our attention was quickly turned away towards the cabinet, which was now on fire and floating above the ground. I couldn't think of what to do, so I cast a silencing charm around the room just before it hit the floor. Draco was putting out the fire.
It was then that I realised I was crying. I fell to the floor and just let the tears flow from my eyes, not bothering to help Draco and Cho look at the cabinet. Cho came towards me but I just shook my head. I needed to deal with it on my own. She nodded, telling me she understood, and made her way out of the room.
Draco walked over and sat next to me for a while before pulling me into a hug. I don't know how long we sat there but I just needed to get the tears out. When I was finally done, I looked up at him.
"I'm sorry."
"Me too. How did you do it?" he asked. I looked down at my knees, slightly confused about what he was talking about.
"Well Aunt Bella taught me it ages ago. I got angry and just used it against you, which I know I shouldn't-" he cut me off and shook his head.
"No! How did you turn your hair red when you were shouting at me?"
"I didn't do anything," I told him. He just looked at me again with the same shocked expression he had after I'd sent the spell at him.
"Well you did. Only for a second and then it turned back blonde, but I don't have a clue how you did it."
"I don't know what you're talking about!" I told him, while he laughed at my response. "Come on, I'm hungry."
I took his hand and dragged him down to the Great Hall while he carried on questioning me about how I changed my hair colour.
**"So you honestly have no idea how we could fix it?" Draco asked me while I sat in the library. It had been nearly a month since the cabinet had broken, but I still didn't know how to fix it. It was a Friday night late in October, just before the Hogsmeade trip.
"No Drake!" I snapped. He looked slightly hurt and I regretted my words immediately. "Sorry. It's just you ask me the same thing every day! If I knew how to, I would tell you. I'm hardly getting any sleep now, so you're just going to have to wait!" I kept my voice down, but made sure he got the meaning of my words.
"Okay, okay! I was only asking because we'll need to resort back to the original plan." He lowered his voice even more. "The necklace arrived last night. So I'll go into the Three Broomsticks tomorrow to start that part to the plan." I nodded, but wasn't fully listening.
"Yeah. I'll meet you at the gates tomorrow morning then," I told him, standing up and making my way through the row of books trying to find anything on fixing a vanishing cabinet. When I had a few more books, I made my way over to the table I had been occupying for the past few weeks.
"Do you mind if I sit with you?" I looked up to see Hermione Granger. I smiled and motioned to the seat opposite me before turning my attention back to the small print in the huge book in front of me. Me and Hermione had become quite close in the time I had spent here, much to Draco's annoyance.
I turned to the notes I had been making, trying to make sense of the many diagrams and runes I had set out in front of me. I groaned, and rested my head against the table. I heard Hermione chuckle across from me.
"A lot of stress from your homework?" she asked. I half smiled back at her and nodded my head. She didn't need to know it was nothing to do with that.
"Something like that," I replied, before piling all my notes together.
"What lesson is it for?" she questioned; now reading one of the books she had brought with her. My mind went blank, so I used the first thing that I saw for my inspiration, which happened to be my twin.
"Oh, it's not for my homework. It's Draco's History of Magic homework. I used to do quite well in it so he asked me if I could help find something for him, we've been looking for ages now and still haven't found anything." I lied, and it came out quite fluently. Draco, who had heard every word, shot me a confused look which I brushed off.
"What's the homework on, I might be able to find something," she offered. I was a bit surprised she'd offer to help Draco knowingly, but explained it to her anyway.
"So you need to finish off the essay by explaining how to fix it?" she didn't sound convinced by the end of the 'homework', but I nodded in the hope she'd know something.
She took a piece of parchment off the pile next to me and began drawing a complicated diagram. When she had finished, she wrote one word down the side and turned the parchment back towards me.
"The bits the arrows are pointing at would need to have this spell," she pointed to the word at the side, "used on them. This wouldn't make it fit to travel in, but it would be the spell that would start making its use possible again." she smiled proudly when she finished explaining.
I looked down at the diagram in awe. "Thank you! This is really helpful; I think he'll have finished it now thanks to this!" I stood up and gathered all the books together. "I'll see you around Hermione."
She waved and then turned to one of the essays she was doing. I walked out the library and heard Draco coming up behind me.
"What was all that about?" he asked. He still wasn't used to the fact that I was friends with Hermione, but he would have more of a reason to.
"That was me, finding out a way to start fixing the cabinet. You should be more grateful towards Hermione now," I said with a smirk and turned to make my way to the Ravenclaw tower.
**
"You look happy," Cho told me as we walked down to meet Draco at the gates. I had actually got sleep last night so I was now in a good mood.
"I have my reasons," I replied with a smile. She just laughed from beside me. We walked past Ben and Toby, who just turned their backs towards me. I felt my heart drop a little, but tried to ignore the feeling.
Ever since they had found out my 'true' identity, they hadn't wanted anything to do with me. They knew I was a Lestrange (well, thought) and decided they didn't want to get involved with anyone to do with the Death Eaters.
"Just ignore them. They don't know the real you, or your story," Cho said supportively at my side. As we reached the gates, my happy mood had returned and I walked over to Draco.
"Feeling better?" he asked me with a smirk. I returned one and turned to look at Cho.
"We ready to go?" They both chuckled and I led the way towards the gates again. I was excited, which could be counted as an understatement. I would be my first visit to Hogsmeade and I couldn't wait to see what it was like. "Who are those people at the gate?"
Draco followed my gaze and a look of horror passed across his face. Cho didn't notice this and started to explain something about them being Aurors and checking for Dark objects.
I followed Cho through the crowd of people and was stopped by a young Auror with bright pink hair. She sent me a smile before casting a spell just above my head. It felt like a bucket of cold water had been thrown over me, and just as it registered in my brain, the feeling had disappeared.
"Clear!" the witch shouted, trying to hide her laugh at my reaction before moving me along with the other people from our year. I realised that all the Aurors had sensors on them which was showing whether or not there were Dark objects in anyone's possession.
Then my blood ran cold. I suddenly realised why Draco had been horrified at the idea of being searched by Aurors. The necklace he had in his pocket was laced with the Darkest magic people could ever dream of. What would happen if the Aurors found it?
"Mr Malfoy, you're next," the cold voice of Severus Snape carried through to me over the crowds.
