Chapter two: Lonely Nights
21:56, 26 June 2017Samantha never particularly liked the feeling of cold iron, at least, not against her wrists. It was rough, tight, and heavy, dragging her arms down with it's weight. Not only that, but the clickety-clack sound it made did not sit well with Samantha. Soon enough, her armed escorts came to a stop infront of a cell.
With her irons removed, she was promptly shoved into the cell.
"Damn pirate. You will always remember this as the day that you almost caught Captian Jack Sparrow! I'll show him when I get out of here, I swear it." Samantha gripped as she took a seat on the bench facing the bars.
"Samantha!" Elizabeth cried as she ran towards the door. "Elizabeth! Dear are you alright?" She asked as she inspected Elizabeth's appearance for any injury. "Yes I'm fine but what about you! I can't let you hang, you're like an older sister to me. What would I do without you?" The younger girl cried. "Elizabeth, Elizabeth, don't cry. I reckon I'll be out of here soon." Samantha comforted.
"Sooner than you think Samantha. I will be back shortly with Commodore Norrington. You will be home for bed, mark my words." Governor Swann comforted before leaving the cell block, ordering a gaurd to escort Elizabeth back to the manor when she is ready.
"See Elizabeth, your father will take care of this, don't you worry, I'll be there with you tonight to help prepare you for bed in just a few hours, trust me." Samantha murmured with a grin as she patted Elizabeth's shoulder. "Looks like you'll have to find your way through life for a few hours on your own." Samantha teased, earning a smile from Elizabeth. "Now go, this is no place for a lady such as yourself. Hop to it." Samantha ordered, sending Elizabeth dashing away.
Samantha stood and moved back to her seat, calmly watching the cell mates in the next cell whistle for the dog.
Not but thirty minutes later, Samantha was amused to see Jack Sparrow shoved into the cell with her. "I do believe that Commodore Norrington 'ill always 'member tis as the day that 'ee caught Cap'n Jack Sparrow." Samantha teased, her accent showing through as she didnt worry so much about hiding it.
"Shut it." Jack groaned as he sat next to her. "I want some rum." He pouted. Samantha nodded and pulled her flask from her waist belt, where it was safely hidden from view. She then took a swig of the harsh drink before handing it to Jack. "You are an angel." He complimented. Samantha shrugfed as she took out her small knife from her belt.
"Do you have any other secrets hiding in that belt of yours I might get to see?" Jack asked in shock as she started twrilling the knife. "You wish." She retorted before throwing the knife at a rat passing through.
"'Ow are ya likin' yer stay at Port Royal? Best rooms ta offer fer a pirate. A truly stunning and tantilizing view of the port an ocean. Yer room is complete with not one, but two hard benches to use fer yer leisure. Wan' some homely comforts? Worry not, a pile of rat droppin' invested hay lays spralled across the floor like a drunken 'hore. Yer room is complete with one wall, providin' a truly open floor design with three walls of metal barrin'. Animal friendly? Ye bet it is! Port Royal Jail hosts a legion of rats waiting to bite yer toes clean of their meat and a key dog that jus' loves ta tease ya by sitting just out of reach. Can ya think of an'thing better?" Samantha tormented Jack with a large grin on her face.
"I want it known about two things. Firstly, you are a Royal Bitch your Highnee. Secondly, Port Royal should fail in its hospitality category." Jack grumbled. Samantha grinned and pulled the bloody rat off of her knife, handing it to Jack.
"The dog likes rat meat, wait till later to use it." Samantha whispered to him, prompting a thankful nod of his head.
"Miss Vida, it looks as if you're in luck. Think of this as a warning, I will not be so kind next time." Norrington warned as he opened the cell angrily, allowing Samantha to leave her confinement. "Of course Commodore, I haven't the faintest idea as to what came over me. Thank you for your generosity." Samantha sweetly smiled.
Jack then seemed to develop a rather nasty cough that sounded suspiciously like the words 'kiss-ass.' He earned a sharp glare from Samantha as she was escorted from the jail.
Samantha and Estrella moved about Elizabeths room, Samantha softly combing through the young womans hair as Estrella attempted small talk. However, the young maid ended on the topic of men, specifically young William Turner which prompted a sharp glare from Elizabeth. The young Maid quickly made her way from the room, leaving Samantha and Elizabeth.
"She's right, it was a tough day for you." Samantha informed her softly. "I suppose. Could you sing me a song?" Elizabeth bartered, hopefully. Samantha rolled her eyes but nodded. "Which song?" She asked. "Jolly Sailor Bold." Elizabeth requested. "I'm already in trouble and now you want me to sing a song about loving a sailor? Are you mad?" Samantha incredulously asked. "For me?" Elizabeth whined. "I hate you." "Thank you."
"Upon one summer's morning, I carelessly did stray, Down by the Walls of Wapping, where I met a sailor gay, Conversing with a young lass, who seem'd to be in pain, Saying, William, when you go, I fear you will ne'er return again.
"My heart is pierced by cupid,I disdain all glittering gold. There is nothing can console me, But my Jolly Sailor- what the bloody hell!" Samantha cut off abruptly as the sound of canons filled the air.
She quickly moved towards the window to see pirates infiltrating Port Royal, swarming from a cursed ship. A ship that bore black sails, that was raised by Davy Jones himself.
"The Black Pearl." Samantha muttered in shock before moving quickly. "Come Elizabeth, they'll be at the doorstep soon, we'll have to leave from the servant quarters." Samantha ordered Elizabeth, dragging the girl from her room and into the hall. They had made it to the balcony when a sharp rap was made on on the door.
"Don't!" Elizabeth yelled only too late. "Ello chum." A pirate snarled before firing a shot.
Samantha wisely pulled Elizabeth into her shoulder to hide her from the view. Time to go Elizabeth." Samantha muttered as they started to run. "Up there." The voice from earlier alerted. "Girls!" Another joined.
Samantha heard the pirates sharp foot falls as she pulles Elizabeth but didn't look back.
She and Elizabeth make it into a room, Estrella locking the door behind them. "Miss Swann! They've come to kidnap you." Estrella warned. "What?" Elizabeth asked fearfully. "Yer the Gov'nor's Dau'ter dear. Estrella, They 'aven't seen ya yet, hide." Samantha ordered, not caring about her accent as she started calculating the odds of survival.
Quickly she pulled Elizabeth into the room after pilling a chair or to infront of the door. "Won't hold em long. Strip, get into this." Samantha ordered, quickly handing Elizabeth a wool chemise. Samantha then stripped, dressing instead into a silken one. She kept her jacket and weapons on hiding them in her undergarments.
The door burst open, Samantha quickly hitting one pirate with hot water while Elizabeth burned the other with the bed warmer.
"Come on Elizabeth!" Samantha ordered as she ran from the room, pulling Elizabeth with her. "In here." She ordered, shoving Elizabeth in roughly before locking the door with a candle holder.
"Hide, Elizabeth, into the closet." Samantha muttered, quickly throwing the door open before shutting it softly.
"We know yer here Poppets." "Poppets."
It was silent for a moment.
"Come out and we promise we won't hurt you."
Samantha was holding Elizabeth to her chest, keeping the young girl from breathing loudly.
"We will find you, Poppets. You've got something of ours, and it calls to us. The gold calls to us."
Samantha looked down at Elizabeth with unanswered questions but made no noise.
"Gold calls."
One of the pirates looked in the crack with a grin.
"'Ello, Poppets."
The door flew open, Elizabeth screamed but Samantha stayed calm. "Parley." "What?" "I don't like repeating myself. I invoke the right of Parley. You must take myself and my handmaiden to your captain. Unless of course you wish to break the code, but I dont think you want to face the repercussions, or Teague, now do you?"
"I know the code." "Great, then we'll be off to your captain." Samantha demanded. "To blazes with the code." The taller pirate grumbled. "Are you insulting Captain Edward Teague?" Samantha inquired. "They want to be taken to the captain, and they'll go without a fuss. We must honor the code." The shorter pirate stated with a grin.
Samantha and Elizabeth found themselves weaving through the crowd of fighting, Elizabeth had a look of terror on her face while Samantha seemed oddly calm.
Eventually, the pair ended up on the Black Pearl, facing her ruthless crew.
"I didn't know we were taking prisoners." A burly pirate growled. "She's invoked the right of parley with Captain Barbossa." The short Pirate defeneded. "I seek an audience with Hector Barbossa." Samantha ordered. The tall pirate slapped her, causing an uncomfortable stinging on her cheek. Elizabeth gasped in shock. "You will speak when spoken to."
"And ye not lay a hand on those under the protection of parley." Captain Barbossa ordered, turning towards Samantha before earning a shocking awakening. "Hector, leave Port Royal." Samantha ordered the captain forcefully. "Not without our medallion melady." Barbossa disobeyed with a throaty laugh.
"Leave or I drop it." Elizabeth ordered, earning the attention of all the pirates present. "Elizabeth don't do something stupid." Samantha warned. "Me holds are burstin' with swag. That bit of shine matters to us? Why?" Barbossa bluffed. Elizabeth seemed baffled. "It's what you've been searching for. I recognized the ship. I saw it eight years ago on the crossing from England." "Shit." Samantha cursed. "Did ya now?" Barbossa asked with a greedy gleam in his eye. "Fine. Well, I suppose if it is worthless then there's no point in me keeping it." Elizabeth relents, allowing the medallion to drop a little.
All the pirates moved forward.
"She 'ave a name Miss?" "Elizabeth-""Turner. I work Under Samantha in the Governor's house." "Governor's house now?" Barbossa asked after grinning at Elizabeth. "Daughter, my dear mama died giving birth while he was away. I spent years tracking him down and love my dear ol' father with all me heart." Samantha charmingly said.
"He bought that?" "No one accused him of being smart." "Anyone know yer here?" Barbossa asked, seeing a possible gain in money. "Sparrow knows, if I turn up missing guess who will be the first ones to know." "Damn that man to the ends of the Earth. 'Ave a nice swim." Barbossa tmstated before pushing Samantha off and sending Elizabeth into the first mates quarters.
"Barbossa! You son of a bitch!" Samantha cried as the Pearl sailed away. "God damn greedy bastard." Samantha muttered as she started to swim ashore.
Samantha pulled herself on shore a few minutes later, treking up towards the Governor's house.
