Chapter 8
18:47, 23 March 2025Alex, laid in bed staring at his ceiling. He couldn't go to sleep, his brain was running a mile a minute, his body was wired up to rest. His phone lit up, and he reached over to grab it. The light blinded him for a moment before he turned the brightness down.
A smile formed on his face when he saw Derek texted him.
For the rest of the night, the two texted back and forth, until they fell asleep around 2 in the morning.

Derek yawned, walking into the room at the station, with a large cup of coffee,"Long night, Morgan?" Rossi asked him with a raised brow.
Derek hummed sitting down "You could say that." He muttered while taking a sip of his coffee. Emily and Spencer smiled sharing a look, "Maybe up late talking to someone" Emily whispered with a teasing smile.
Derek gave her a look as Spencer laughed a little. Rossi, and Hotch shared a look, wondering what those two knew but didn't say anything. "Alright, let's pick up where we left off yesterday," Hotch said, getting everyone back on track.
Derek sat up, pushing everything else to the back of his mind, focusing on the case.
"Garcia was able to find out our victims met each other here." Spencer said getting up, he moved to the map, circling a book shop.
"A bookstore?" Derek asked with a raised brow.
Spencer nodded "Weird right? Until I did some digging, this book store is believed to be a drug house."
"Why weren't we informed of this before?" Hotch asked, crossing his arms, eyes sliding towards the detective walking in with JJ.
"We were never able to prove it." The detective said after clearing her throat.
Hotch sighed. He would have liked to know about this before "Morgan, Prentiss, hit the bookstore, see what you can find."
The two nodded and left the room, taking their drinks with them.

Alex leaned over the car he was fixing music blasting through his headphones. He was alone in the garage today, having sent everyone home since they worked over time all of last week.
Even though he sent his men home, he decided to stay and finish up some work that he could.
"Hello? Anyone here!"
Alex heard over his music. He stood up, pulling his headset down, letting them rest around his neck "Hello?!" Alex grabbed his rag, walking around the car to see two people standing at the front desk.
"Can I help you?" He asked.
The two turned to him, Alex could see the badges on their belts. A male and Female.
The male was tall, around 6'0, black hair, brown eyes, well built.
The female was on the short side, 5'5, red hair, green eyes, swimmer body if Alex was correct.
"Alexander Knight?" The female cop asked.
Alex eyed the two, tossing the rag on the counter "Yeah. Can I help you?" He asked, crossing his arms. How did these two detectives know him?
"I'm detective McRae, this is my partner detective Stark." The Female detective told him, "Last night, a guy was rushed to the hospital. Hit and run"
"Hey, I had nothing to do with that." Alex told them, holding up his hands.
Detective McRae shook her head "We know that."
"Okay... So what do the cops want with me?"
"When they were transferring him to the hospital, this was found with him." Detective Stark set a couple of pictures on the counter. Alex took a step closer, staring at the photos.
They were of him.
Him inside his house.
Him with Stella having breakfast as his favorite café.
Him and Derek at their date.
Him working here at the garage.
And so many more.
"What the hell..." He breathed out, staring at the pictures in disbelief "What is this?" He looked up at the detectives.
"We believe he was stalking you." Detective Stark told him, pulling out his phone "Do you recognize this man?"
Alex took the phone, staring at the man.
He had blond hair, blue eyes, and a small beauty mark by his lip. He didn't recognize him at all. "No." Alex shook his head, handing the phone back "Never seen him before."
The detectives nodded "Have you been feeling watched lately?"
Alex snorted "Lady, I'm the owner of a garage that just got investors to agree to go nationwide and a racecar driver, who has a race this weekend. I always feel like I'm being watched."
The two nodded, "Well, the guy is currently in a coma, so we can't do much until he wakes, but we believe you're safe." Detective Stark told him, pulling out a card "But if you ever feel like something isn't right, give this number a call."
Alex nodded, taking the card "Thanks. I will." The two nodded, gathering the photos and started to leave when Alex stopped them "Hey, what's his name? The guy."
"Daniel Kahan." Detective McRae told him.
Alex nodded in thanks, and they left. He looked down at the card, and pulled out his wallet, slipping it inside before stuffing it back in his back pocket, pulling on his headphones and going back to work.
He did not have time to worry about a guy in a coma. If he was in the hospital, he didn't have to worry about him again, though he would make sure to up security around his house.

"Knight" Alex answered his phone, putting it on speaker, as he rolled under the second car to change the oil.
"Hey, am I interrupting something?" Derek's voice filled the room.
Alex smiled, using a rag to stop oil from falling on his face "Nope, just changing a customer oil. What are you doing?"
"Coffee run for my team, figured I'd give you a call while I have the time."
"How are you? You sound tired." Alex asked, rolling out from the car, moving closer to the phone as he got the new oil ready.
"I am tired. This case is kicking my ass." Derek yawned a little.
"Want to talk about it?" Alex offered.
"Uh... We have 4 dead bodies and nothing else. Only thing we know is they met at a bookstore that doubles as a drug ring."
Alex hummed, popping the hood of the car "In Mexico our drug rings had basements that led to tunells so they could store the drugs without getting caught. Work for years until someone found out."
"How did they find out?"
"His daughter bought some drugs, were told to take one pill and she'll be high. She took a pill, then died, a bad batch or something." It was actually sad, he didn't remember much but he knew she was a nice girl. "The father found out where the place was and burned the place down, then killed the people who sold his daughter the drugs."
"Shit... Wait... killed the people who sold the drugs. Alex I think you just helped me solve this case! I'll call you later."
Alex blinked, his didn't expect that "O-okay?" He asked, really before the line cut off. He stared at his phone for a moment before shrugging. If he helped get a killer off the street that's fine with him.
