Chapter 4

Derek threw another shirt on his bed as he tried to find something suitable to wear. He told Alex to wearing something fancy but also causal but now he doesn't know what to wear himself

A knock from his front door caught his attention "Derek! It's me" Emily's voice rang out. Derek sighed in relief, running through his apartment

Emily was a little startled when the door opened and she was pulled in "Emily thank god you're here. I need help, like major help" Derek told her pulling her towards his bedroom

Emily looked around wide eyed at the state of his room. Clothes were thrown all over the bed, at least 10 pairs of shoes were on the floor, some clothes were even falling off his bed and onto the floor

"I'd say" She commented, setting her purse on his dresser that was at least clear of clutter. Derek huffed moving to stand in front of his closet again "I have no idea what to wear. I never had this problem before, why am I having this problem now?" Derek asked turning to her

Emily couldn't stop the laughter that came out, making Derek scowl before throwing one of the shirts he had in his hands at her "Sorry" Emily said catching the shirt "I think you're having this problem because you really like this guy" She gave him a knowing look

Derek sighed "I asked you here for help. So help, please" He said, motioning to his closet. "Okay" Emily held up her hands moving to his closet "Where are you going tonight"

"This small Spanish restaurant I helped flip. The owners are good friends, and they serve food from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil, really any Spanish place" Derek told her flopping down on his bed

"Dress code?"

"Fancy Casual"

Emily hummed looking through the little clothes Derek still has in his closet and picked out a dark orange shirt "Pants?" Derek pointed to the third draw of his dresser. Emily rummaged through it for a minute or two before pulling out a pair of dark dressed pants

She held it up, looking at it with narrowed eyes before nodding and turning to the shoes that are scattered around, spotting a pair of brown dress shoes and grabbed them

"Here"

Derek sat up, taking the clothes from Emily and heading to his bathroom. Emily looked around, spotting his watch collection and picked out a gold watch, before grabbing one of his cologne she bought him last Christmas

Derek exited the bathroom, Emily looked at him for a moment before nodding 

"Good. Here" She thrusted the watch at him before opening the cologne and spraying him with it

Emily stepped back, looking him up and down with an approve smile "You look amazing" Derek smiled grabbing his phone and keys "Thank you Emily, I owe you one"

Emily waved him off, grabbing her purse "Just tell me how this date goes and we're even" She told him following him out the apartment. Derek laughed but agreed

Alex messed with his hair before messing with his shirt. He had 20 minutes before Derek was supposed to pick him up and he was just finishing now

Since Derek told him it was fancy casual, he decided on black dress pants with a black cotton turtleneck and his black dress shoes. He was also going to pair his outfit with his black coat

Grabbing his cologne, he sprayed some on his neck and wrist before heading to his bedroom, grabbing his phone and headed downstairs to waiting in the family room so he could hear the doorbell

He spent the next 20 minutes going through some emails on his phone, when the doorbell rang. Quickly getting, up, he takes one more look at himself in the small mirror on the wall before heading to the door

"Hi" Alex smiled at his date

Derek opened and closed his mouth as he stared at his date "Derek?" Alex asked smile turning into a frown the longer Derek stared at him without saying anything

"You look handsome" Derek blurted out, making Alex smile.

A great start to this date after all
