Chapter 041

I wipe the water off my face to see the culprit.

"Ah sorry Violet, it's just he was chasing me. And a rock so I fell"

"Sasha your death had come early hasn't it"

She truly did look frightened.

My shirt was a transparent idiot. I guess this is my punishment. I turn but I bump into someone.

"You should wear this for now."

He put his shirt around me. He buttons the first three. I stare at him. His hair is longer than before. His face matured more. His shirt was a bit bigger on me. He then put the hat on me.

"I mean you kinda deserve it. Stop slacking off."

I was about to speak.

"Heyyy"

I turn to the voice to see Hange and Levi on their horses.

"Man you are all working hard in this heat. Ah, Eren your shirt."

I look to see he wasn't wearing a shirt. Am I stupid? I have his shirt.

"Yeah well, we're stuck watching this idiot."

Levi walked over to us. He folded his arms and stood next to Connie.

"When did you get so damm big."

I look to Eren I reach a little above his shoulder. I remembered us being the same height back then.

She continues on about Hizuro. They don't want us to trade with anyone else.

"They want Paradise Island to be the root of all evil. It helps unite all the nations and bring stability to the world"

I used to think couldn't sign a peace treaty and just live without fighting. There was no need in fighting for what. But things have changed.

"Why won't they consider a path to peace"

" I think because they don't know"

I turn to Mikasa who was staring at the floor.

"They fear us because they don't know"

This is really getting tiring.

"That's right they won't trust a face they haven't seen. So lets me them.if you don't understand something, go and figure it out. Isn't that what the scouts always do."

Hange came over to me and place her hand on my shoulder.

"You haven't gotten those headaches again. Zeke said something about death back then. Do you have any idea"

"I haven't gotten any headache for two years now."

I thought long and hard. Could the headaches kill Violet? She was 7 at the time. But it was before the fall. So it wasn't important since they had not known about her extinction. Could mom have told them about Violet's death?

I look at the distance.  The sun was almost setting. My hair was long. It flew with the breeze. It had come undone.

"If only we had enough time. I only have five years."

I heard his words but paid no attention to them.

I reach the sky.

Mom I hope you are up there.

"I feel like the only one for this job is Violet to inherit it. You guys are all stupid."

I turn to them.

"I don't want to eat Eren."

"Sasha you are such an idiot. We don't even know what the Hizuro will do to us if Violet becomes a titan and plus she is an Ackerman."

Connie slaps Sasha in the head.

"I don't want any of you to inherit it"

"Why not"

"Because you are important to me. More than anyone else. So I want you to live long lives."

"I don't want to live long."

I touch my mouth. I said it out loud.

"what do you mean Violet."

They all started to demand an answer.

"It's honestly tiring, are we really a step closer to what we think freedom is. Wouldn't death be more peaceful"

I turn to see him.

"Will you give up and die"

I look to Eren.

"I don't yearn to die. I want to make it to the end. After all, I did come this far with the least amount of effort didn't I. Also, I love you guys so much that if I die you guys are probably going to as well."

I smile.

"Eren why are you turning red ohh look Jean toooo."

I smiled at Eren.

I don't yearn for death but if it comes my way. I won't hesitate.

"It's the sunset that making your faces like that right"

Jean agrees with my words.

"Yeah it's the sunset"

"It's beautiful"

Connie POV (present)

The sunset reminded me of that day.

"Until Zeke's intentions are made clear, it puts us in a pickle. And Eren suddenly abroad his plan."

Jean was right.

"Hey did that look like Eren to you? "

" not me that wasn't Eren to me. If he made up his mind to with his half brother over us. "

"If he had then what"

"We've to be prepared I'll cut him if necessary"

"I won't let you"

"Huh"

"Mikasa are you siding with him after that"

"I don't think it'll come to that"

"Eren cares about us more than anyone else. You guys should know that"

"Mikasa that's not it."

"No matter home strong you two, the old him would have never put anyone at risk. He made Armin destroy the port. Violet destroys their reinforcements. He pulls all of us to fight. The ones he called importantly."

"I think that because he trust us if we hadn't  gone, he couldn't have done it."

"And Sasha wouldn't have died"

"Mikasa, even Violet came to terms with that. Tell me what did he do after Violet left the room. Why did Eren do? Did he cry? Did he regret it"

"Connie stop"

"He laughs. Was he seeing Violet crying funny? Or what part of Sasha's death was so funny to him."

"What part of that was funny. Mikasa explains it to me. Since you knew everything's out him."

"Violet had grown up with you guys. And you guys should know she doesn't cry alot."

"Did you see how she look at Eren? It's as they were strangers.."

"Connie please"

"No, she didn't because it had to be done"

I turn to see her. She was standing there. Her skin was pale. Her eyes remind me from back then. They look duller. She looks fragile.

He laugh when I told him Sasha's final words.

"Connie"

They all turn to me.

I walked to the window. The sunset was going down. That day what led it to this. I touch my hair as it was still wet. I open the window.

"Isn't the sky beautiful? The starry night had fallen beneath us."

"Violet you don't look"

"I'm fine" I reply, I walk to where she was seated.

I sat next to Mikasa. I turn to her.

"Mikasa"

"yes Violet"

"Would you let me kill Eren"

Her eyes widen

"VIOLET WHY ARE YOU ASKING THAT, ITS EREN"

I stood up. And strength out my body. I pull my hair into a ponytail and turn to her.

"I won't kill him Mikasa. He Eren as you said."

Before I could say anything Armin rushed to us.

"Violet Mikasa and I, we willgo take to Eren. We'll find out his goal. Just us four."

"It's worth a try isn't it Armin"

I hug him.

"Eren is still there just not"
