« Chapter Four - Three months? »
04:51, 7 February 2020We sat in silence, eating, as we began to contemplate what had just happened. Charlie had set up the wards and fireplace while I had began to tidy up the dusty old house.
"Did- did death-eaters really just crash our wedding?" I questioned, attempting to break the tension.
"They really need to learn some people skills, some wedding gift that was," he joked and I snorted. There was a moment of thoughtful silence.
...
...
"How about we have a small wedding, closest friends and family only? What if that was the universe telling us that a big wedding wasn't for us?" I suggested hesitantly, filling with relief when I saw him grin.
"I didn't want to say something but I didn't think a big wedding was for us from the start, but you were so happy I didn't say anything," I smiled softly at him, he was too thoughtful.
"Your mum did go a bit overboard with the wedding planning," I joked and he snorted.
"Why don't we get married here?!" He suddenly stood and I chuckled at his enthusiasm.
"The back garden does have a very natural feel to it, and this does need to happen before I get too big for my dress," I stood, speaking with just as much excitement.
"We'll do it next week and we could have the reception in the house!"
"Perfect," I grinned, "Let's do it"
He laughed a hearty laugh, coming around to stand in front of me, pulling me into his arms.
The wedding was tomorrow and we were expecting the healer today, for our first antenatal check up.
"Miss Davies?" The older woman spoke as she stepped into the house and I smiled, Charlie offering her a seat and a drink before taking his place beside me.
"Pleasure to meet you, I'm Marlene Port and I'll be your Midwitch, I'll be with you throughout the entire pregancy and for a couple weeks after," she smiled comfortingly and I sighed in relief.
"This won't take long, this is only your first check up so I'm just going to run a quick text to check where you are in your pregnancy," I nodded along with her, taking in all the information.
"When will we know the gender?" Charlie questioned eagerly, making the older witch chuckle.
"On your fifth month of pregnancy I'll arrive and apparate you both to St Mungos where I'll use a magically modified muggle ultrasound machine to determine the gender and Make sure everything is alright physically," she answered and Charlie grinned.
"Miss Davies, can you hold your hand out for me please, I need a bit of your blood for this, don't worry, it won't hurt," she smiled and I held my hand out for her instantly.
She used her wand to do a paper cut sized slice on my pointer finger, dripping a bit of my blood into a clear coloured potion.
She shook the potion thoroughly after putting a drop of dittany on my cut and the potion swirled inti a deep purple.
"Well, Miss Davies, it appears you are twelve weeks along," she smiled and I grinned, turning to Charlie who matched my facial expression. And to think I just thought I was getting fat, but my Visible baby bump contradicted that. Ha, take that fat.
The bump was growing at a crazy speed, I'm glad the wedding was tomorrow because if we had left it even slightly later I wouldn't have been able to fit into my dress.
"Well, Miss Davies, I'll be back every couple weeks, it's compulsory due to the stress of the war,"
"Thank you," she nodded to me with a smile before stepping back into the fireplace and disappearing away into a roaring of green flames.
Mere moments after she left we heard popping coming from outside, indicating apparition. I looked at Charlie with furrowed brows but he wore the exact same expression. We weren't expecting anybody.
"Stay here," he spoke quietly, giving me a stern look when I was about to protest. I pressed my lips into a fine line before nodding, chewing on my nails as he disappeared around the corner to go to the door.
I heard booming talking and laughing and the padding of feet on the floor. When Charlie appeared again with a large grin, all tension left me and I stood, greeting the several people who began to enter.
"Come here darling!" Mrs Weasley chuckled with a large grin, bringing me into a gentle hug. She had been a bit indecisive when we'd told her over owl the news but after she found out we were still having the wedding soon, she was ecstatic.
"Thanks Molly," I smiled.
"Sister!" Chester exclaimed as he and Roger approached me.
"Congratulations," Roger smiled, standing awkwardly, he never had been the best with showing sibling love but I simply brought him into a tight embrace.
"Stop hogging the pregnant lady! I want to speak to my little niece or nephew!" Chester grinned, bending down so he was level with my belly.
"Hello there Kid, it's your uncle Chester here, who is obviously going to be your favourite uncle, I'm going to spoil you rotten," I chuckled at Chester's antics and brought him into a hug when he stood back up.
"Where's mum?" I questioned, glancing around.
"Her and dad are out buying every baby thing they can, they said it's bad luck to keep baby things in your house when you're pregnant so they're keeping the stuff in the manor," Roger answered and I shook my head with a smile. The two are baby crazy.
"So, how far along are you, has the Midwitch been yet?" Molly questioned expectantly, making Charlie laugh at her excitement.
"I'm three months," I answered and she shouted with excitement, crushing me once more.
"Mum, you're gonna strangle her," Charlie chided, taking his place beside me and wrapping an arm around my waist.
"Sorry sweetheart, everyone's so excited about the wedding, I just had to come by," Molly smiled and I chuckled. We spent the rest of the day chatting and joking with the visitors before retiring to our room to sleep, our last night together before we become Husband and wife.
