Moving Out

The next two weeks pass in a breeze, I managed to save up enough money to afford a small room to stay in.
It has one bed, a small bathroom and it smells kinda moldy but it's my own place so I can ignore the mold for now.
I grip my crutches tightly as I hop down the street towards S.T.A.R Labs. I haven't told the team that I got my own place yet but I doubt they'll even notice me gone.
Caitlin only gets home late at night and I'm pretty busy at Jitters so I don't go to S.T.A.R Labs as often.
I get out of the elevator and hop into the cortex where I find Barry and Cisco.
"Hey guys," I greet them slightly awkwardly. I have no idea how I'm going to tell them. Oh well, I'll just wing it.
"Hey Rae, I haven't seen you around a lot anymore," Cisco says as he and Barry turn to face me.
"Yeah, I actually got a job at Jitters two weeks ago so I'm pretty busy," I tell them. They nod and we settle into a pretty awkward silence.
"I actually have something I wanted to tell you guys," I start. I open my mouth to tell them when Caitlin suddenly enters the cortex.
"Hey Rae. Are you ready to get rid of your crutches?" Caitlin asks me optimistically. I give her a confused look.
"Remember? I told you last night that you should come today so I can give you the all clear on your leg," she says.
I quickly nod.
"Oh yeah! Let's go to the med Bay," I say, faking realisation. I don't even remember talking to her last night. I've been pretty tired lately.
We walk into the med bay and I sit down on the bed.
Caitlin starts to remove all the bandages on my leg and once that's done she starts to poke around the wound area.
It has now healed into quite an ugly circular scar where I tried to cauterise it. The scar is still slightly red but doesn't hurt at all anymore.
"Well, just don't do any crazy running or anything like that and you should be good to go," Caitlin says, giving me a smile.
I grin and hop off of the bed, leaving my crutches behind. That's great, now I can finally start working longer hours at Jitters.
I hear a sound and look over to see Barry and Cisco standing by the doorway.
" that's great, Rae," Cisco says, giving me a thumbs up and Barry smiles at me.
"So, what did you want to tell us?" Barry asks. They all look at me.
"Uh, well after I got the job at Jitters I saved up quite a bit of money and decided to use it to rent a small apartment," I tell them cautiously.
They all stare at me for a second before a look of realisation crosses their faces.
"wait, are you moving out of my place?" Caitlin asks. I nod.
"Why? Do you not like it there? Do you..." she starts to ramble.
"No, it's not any of that. It's just, I don't want to have to rely on anyone anymore. I want to be able to provide for myself and have my own place," I say. Barry nods in understanding before looking at his watch.
"I'm sorry guys but I have to go to work now, I'm already late," He says as he grabs his jacket from the back of a chair.
We all say goodbye before he speeds out.
Caitlin turns to me and opens her mouth to say something but I cut her off.
"Please don't argue about this anymore, I've already made my decision," I plead and she gives a defeated nod before walking out of the room.
Cisco turns to me.
"So, would you like to do some more advanced training now that your crutches are gone?" he asks excitedly and I nod before following him to the speedlab.
......................
I duck as a laser is fired over my head.
Cisco programmed a bunch of drones with lasers to attack me for a training simulation.
"Is this safe?" I shout to Cisco as I narrowly dodge another laser.
"Don't worry, I only set them to stun!" he shouts back.
"Well, I'm 85% sure I set them to stun," he says after a moment of thought.
85%?? I dodge another laser and take a deep breath.
OK, if I want to beat this thing I have to use my fire blasts to short circuit them.
I close my eyes and see all the heat from the laser blasts as they shoot around me.
Time seems to slow as I draw warmth towards my hands and blast multiple shots to all three drones, they instantly fall to the ground, burnt and dead.
I open my eyes as cisco runs over to me and gives me a high five.
"That was amazing! How did you move that fast?" he asks. I shrug.
My stomach starts to grumble and I give a small yawn.
"How long have we been training?" I ask Cisco who quickly checks his watch. His eyes widen.
"Wow, we've been training here for nearly 3 and a half hours!" he exclaims.
"I'm gonna call it a day, I'm pretty stumped," I tell me and he nods. I grab my Jean jacket from the ground in the corner and pull it on before saying goodbye and exiting the room.
......................
I flop down on my bed in my tiny apartment. It's more of just a room though.
The one thing I'll miss most about Caitlin's place is the TV. Now what am I going to do all afternoon?
I grab my phone out of my pocket and start to text Jemma that I can finally start to work more full time.
Just before I'm about to send the message, Thawne interrupts me.
"Don't send that message," he growls. I roll my eyes.
"Why not?"
"I need you to be a part of team flash and you cannot do that if you are preoccupied with some silly job all the time," he growls at me. I sigh.
"How else am I supposed to get money?" I exclaim.
"Legally," I add after a small pause.
"I have a bank account that you can use," he says with a sigh. My eyes widen.
"why didn't you mention this bank account before?" I exclaim.
"Because once my plan is complete I'd like to have money. I don't need some teenage girl wasting it all," he says. I narrow my eyes.
"I'm not going to waste it all!" I exclaim. He sighs.
"Fine, I'll give you the account details tomorrow," he says. I grin.
I lie in my bed in silence before a thought crosses my mind.
"Hey Thawne, because you're in my head do you know all the capabilities of my powers?" I ask him.
"Yes, I do," he replies.
"So, what are they?" I ask him after a moment of silence.
"You already know about your fire and heat signature abilities. Your other abilities include, being able to draw heat from around you and the ability to combust into flames," he tells me.
"Wait, so I could extinguish fire by pulling all the heat from them?" I question. That's pretty cool.
"Yes, you can draw all the heat from anything including a person," he answers. I go silent for a moment.
"Wouldn't that kill them?" I ask him.
"yes, it would," he answers. I swallow hard. I'll have to be sure never to use that ability.
"Why do you need me? What's your plan?" I ask him.
"My goals are beyond your understanding," he growls. I huff.
"Do not question me. Remember, I'm the one with the power here," he growls and I get a splitting headache.
I gasp as I shut my eyes tightly and grasp my head.
It starts to increase and I feel my nose start to bleed slightly.
"OK, OK. I won't question you again. I'm sorry," I gasp out and the pain vanishes.
I wipe my nose with the back of my hand and let out a sigh before allowing myself to drift to sleep.
