Telling Barry

I slowly hop into the cortex with Cisco by my side.

"So Caitlin, why did you call me here?" I see Barry asking Caitlin, his back is to us.

"Raelynn has something she wants to tell you," she says before looking past Barry and right at Cisco and I. This causes Barry to quickly turn around and look at us.

His eyebrows furrow as his eyes go from my crutches to my heavily bandaged leg.

"What happened?" he asks, his voice filled with concern. I hop over to one of the wheely chairs and sit down.

"A couple of days ago I was attacked by the Reverse Flash, he stabbed his hand through my leg. He warned me to stay away from you guys and then did this," I start to explain to him. He looks at the others.

"A couple of days ago? Did you guys know about this?" he asks Caitlin and Cisco. They nod.

"We've known for four days. She was staying at my house for that time," Caitlin tells him.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Barry asks.

"I asked them not to. I was scared you would try to go after him and running angry isn't good," I explain.

He sighs.

"I know, I know," he says.

"Anyway, I'm fine now. My leg will heal quickly," I reassure him. He nods.

"Oh, right, that reminds me. We're having dinner at Joe's place tonight to celebrate Wally coming back, you guys are free to come," Barry tells us.

"Sure, what time?" Cisco asks with a shrug.

"Around 6 or so. Caitlin are you coming?" Barry asks. She nods. Barry turns to me.

"Rae, you're welcomed to come with. Iris really wants to meet you," he says. I'm pretty sure Iris is his wife.

"I don't know. Isn't Joe the captain of CCPD?" I ask unsurely. I am still technically an escaped convict.

"Don't worry, I'm sure he won't arrest you or anything," Barry says, knowing what I was thinking. I shrug.

"Sure. Count me in," I say with a smile. This will be the first real dinner I've had in months.

"Where's the bathroom?" I ask. Caitlin gives me the directions and I grab my crutches before hopping down the hall.

Team Flash watches as Raelynn hops down the hallway till she is out of sight.

"We need to set the satellites to be on the lookout for any traces of negative speed particles," Barry tells Cisco and Caitlin.

"Already on it. It hasn't picked up any traces so far but we'll know the moment it does," Cisco replies, typing into one of the computers.

"Good. I don't think we should tell Raelynn about this though, we don't want her to have any more stress than she already does," Barry suggests. The team nods in agreement.

......................(Raelynn p.o.v)

I'm at Caitlin's house practically ripping my room apart. It's twenty minutes till we have to leave for the West's house and I have nothing to wear. Nothing!

I let out a groan of frustration before flopping down on my bed. I hear a knock on the door and I sit up as Caitlin walks in.

"Hey, I realised you probably don't have anything to wear so I bought you some clothes," she says, holding up a shopping bag stuffed with clothes.

"Caitlin, that must've been expensiv..." I start to protest but she cuts me off.

"Don't worry, it's fine," she says with a smile, putting the bag down next to me before leaving the room, closing the door behind her.

I open up the bag and find it stuffed to the brim with t-shirts, jeans, shorts, jackets, socks, underwear, even a pair of white converse shoes!

I get dressed into a white t-shirt that has the word, 'Levi's' printed across the top, a pair of jean shorts, my converse shoes and an awesome jean jacket.

I check the clock in the corner of my room and see we should've left 5 minutes ago.

I grab my crutches before Caitlin and I rush out of the building and into her car.

We drive the short drive to the West's house, seeing a lot of cars already parked outside.

We get out of the car and I wince when I see all the stairs I have to take to get to the door.

Using a lot of upper arm strength, balance and Caitlin's help, I finally make it up the stairs.

Caitlin knocks on the door and we are instantly greeted by Barry.

"Hey guys, come in," he says with a bright smile, ushering us inside.

We walk straight into a comfy sized living room. Everyone is already here, amongst them a lot of faces I don't know.

"Rae, Caitlin, you're here!" Cisco greets us, a beer in his hand.

A dark skinned, young woman with a bright smile walks up to me, she must be Iris.

"Raelynn, it's a pleasure to finally meet you, I've heard a lot about you," she greets me. I smile back at her.

"Call me Rae, everyone does," I tell her.

"Oh, I should introduce you to everyone," she says with a smile.

She walks off and comes back with an older man, a woman and a boy, probably in his twenties.

"Guys, this is Raelynn. Raelynn, this is my dad, Joe. His fiance Cecile and my baby brother, Wally," she introduces me to everyone.

"Umm, hey," I say nervously.

"It's so nice to meet you," Cecile sys before giving me a hug which I awkwardly return.

"What happened to your leg?" Wally asks.

I look over at Barry, unsure on what to say. He nods.

"I had a bit of a run in with a not-so-nice speedster," I explain light-heartedly.

Wally and I chat for a bit before Joe announces it's time for dinner.

We all sit down at the dining table, I'm surprised it fit us all, as we dig into the delicious lasagna.

"This is amazing!" Cisco exclaims, already on his second helping. We all laugh at his enthusiasm.

"So, Rae, how old are you?" Wally asks curiously.

"I'm fifteen, I turn sixteen at the end of the year in November," I reply after swallowing down a bit of lasagna.

"How do you know Barry, Cisco and Caitlin?" Cecile asks. Wow, they really didn't tell them anything about me, did they?

"I'm actually a meta human," I explain. Cisco nods.

"Yeah, she can shoot fire. We haven't tested the full capabilities of her powers yet though," He says enthusiastically.

"And your parents are OK with this?" Cecile asks. I look down at my empty plate.

"My parents died when I was two during a house burglary." they all give me empathetic looks.

"Do you have any siblings?" Wally asks curiously. I shake my head.

"My mum was eight month pregnant when she died with my baby sister," I say. Cecile gasps, tears filling her eyes.

"That's horrible," Iris exclaims. I nod before clearing my throat.

"So, I hear you're a speedster Wally?" I say, changing the subject. He nods before he starts explaining how he got his powers and all the missions he went on, with Barry and alone.

We talk happily for a couple of hours before Joe brings me up again.

"So, I hear you're an escaped convict?" he says. I look down.

"Umm, I'm going to get some air," I mumble before I grab my crutches and hop outside onto the front porch.

I'm leaning against the balustrade when I hear the front door quietly open and someone stand next to me.

"I'm sorry about Joe," Barry says. I shrug.

"It's fine," I say quietly. He sahels his head.

"Joe has always had a hard time accepting new members to team Flash. Like when earth-2 Harry first showed up, they hated each other but then after a while they learnt that they weren't so different from one another and they actually became close friends," Barry tells me.

" So, you're saying I'm like Joe? "I ask. He shrugs.

" You both care deeply about your friends and family and would do anything for them."

I stay silent as I look out at the street.

" Do you think the Reverse Flash is going to try to kill me?" I whisper so quietly I don't know whether or not he heard me.

He stays silent for a moment before pulling me into a tight hug.

" If he want to he's going to have to go through all of us first," he says reassuringly.

I hug him back and we stay like that for a bit before it starts to get cold.

"Do you want to go back inside?" he asks. I nod and grab my crutches, following after him as we head back inside.

I fall into bed back at Caitlin's house after a long night, it is close to 11 o'clock.

I close my eyes as I start to drift off to sleep.

I see a flash of yellow lightning and glowing red eyes.

"You can't escape me," the Reverse Flash growls.

I open my eyes with a start, breathing heavily and sweat dripping from my forehead.

What was that?
