"Because you're going to come with me."
......................
"What do you mean?" I whisper shout as to not alert the guards.
She frowns slightly.
"Didn't you hear me? I said, 'you're coming with me,'" She repeats, saying it slightly louder this time. I roll my eyes.
"I heard what you said, I just don't get why you want me to come with you." Joss smiles softly and puts a hand on my shoulder.
"It's because you're like a sister to me," She answers a bit cheesily.
I frown knowing that isn't true, I've only spoken to her like three times, but I want to get out of here more than I care about knowing why Joss wants me to come with...
"Fine, I'll come with," I finally agree. She grins widely,
"Great. You know what to do, I'll see you tonight."
She stands up and walks away right as the bell rings again, signalling the end of breakfast. The sme two guards come over and grab me by the arm before leading me back to my cell. I now have a gap of five hours before I'm taken along with all the other metahumans to the courtyard at 2 o'clock.
I walk over to my bed and lay down on it on my back, staring up at the grey, cinder block ceiling blankly.
Tonight I could be out of here. Tonight I could be sleeping under the stars as a free person.
.....................
I wake up with a start to water being poured on my face. I quickly sit up and blink the water out of my eyes. Oh, yeah, Did I forget to mention that to wake you up they just pour a bucket of icy water on you?
I shake the water out of my hair and allow them to lead me to the courtyard. When we reach the gate they simply throw me in before shutting and locking the gate. I pretend to brush off my clothes before making my way over to one of the benches to sit down in the sun. Even though it is 2 o clock the sun is still shining brightly and it is at least 30 degrees.
Lots of the other metahumans are using the weights but a few are just sitting on the benches like me. Someone sits down next to me and I look over to see it's Joss.
"Did they wake you with the bucket?" She asks, looking pointedly at my soggy appearance. I nod.
She grimaces slightly.
"I hate it when they do that." I hear footsteps and look up to see Rosalina Dillon, a.k.a Top, Lisa Snart, a.k.a Golden Glider and Brie Larvan, a.k.a Queen Bee.
Technically Lisa isn't a metahuman but the flash just managed to catch her again and they put her in the metahuman wing so that her brother wouldn't be able to free her...again.
"What do you want?" I ask with a sigh.
They are some of the most powerful metahumans here and they don't approach us other inmates unless they want something.
"We heard you're planning on breaking out tonight," Lisa says. I give Joss a questioning look and she shrugs.
"I obviously went to them with my plan first," she tells me as though it's obvious which I guess it is.
I was the first person ever in the meta-wing and wasn't caught by the Flash so everyone tends to ignore me.
"So, what do you want?" I ask them again.
"We're planning on getting out of here in a couple of days so if by some miracle you do make it out, you should join us on a few heists," Top says.
Joss shrugs.
"Sure, why not? Oh, and we will be making it out," Joss says with a grin.
The three of them quickly walk off and go to their table.
"So, what are you planning on doing after we break out?" Joss asks me. I shrug.
"I haven't really thought of it. I'd probably go somewhere far away, like Metropolis, and go back to school? I always wanted to graduate," I tell her.
"How old are you?" she asks, tilting her head to the side.
"I'm fifteen, turning sixteen in a couple of months," I answer. Her eyes widen.
"Wow, I thought you were eighteen of something but just looked young. Shouldn't you be in juvie?" she asks curiously.
"They decided this was the only place that could hold me," I tell her.
She opens her mouth to ask even more questions but she's cut off by the bell. Thank goodness. She asks way too many questions and it gets quite irritating.
"I'll see you later," I tell her as I start to walk back to my cell. I walk down the long corridor and through a gate where a prison guard checks me off on his list that way they can tell if anyone fails to show up.
I enter my small, padded cell and lay down on the bed.
......................
About an hour later, a guard comes and delivers my tray of green mush, water and a small chocolate pudding.
I begin to slowly eat my mush and pudding. When I'm done with that, I grab my small cup of water and I grab the little blue pill Joss snuck me.
Her plan is that we both take these pills and it will make us pretty sick. When we get taken to the medical room, Joss has got a doctor that is a friend of hers that can sneak us out.
I put the pill in my mouth and swallow it down with some water before quickly laying down on my bed. Joss says that it should take effect quite quickly.
I've barely been lying down for five minutes when I feel myself start to get all sweaty and feverish. My stomach starts hurting worse than it ever has before and I curl up in a ball. I start panting slightly as my head starts to pound.
I shut my eyes tightly. I hear the sound of a guard opening my cell door and quickly picking me up, saying he's taking me to the medical room.
I must have passed out because next thing I know, I feel like I'm in a car. I open my eyes and find I was correct. I look around and see I'm in the passenger seat with Joss driving next to me.
"What happened?" I ask her groggily, my head is still pounding.
"You're awake! You had a slight allergic reaction to the pill but don't worry, you should be fine now," she informs me. I nod.
"Where are we going?" I ask her curiously. We are currently driving down an empty road. It must be the very early morning hours still.
"We're going to one of my old hideouts. It's my childhood house. My mum moved out of it awhile ago but kept it for me one day," she explains, "We're only about three minutes away now."
I lean my head against the window and look at the buildings we pass by.
Three minutes later we pull up to a small, blue, colonial house in a nicely established neighbourhood.
Joss parks the car in the driveway and we head inside. It is a quaint house on the inside with hardwood floors and newly painted, white walls.
Joss leads me up the stairs and into the bathroom.
"If we don't want to get caught again we'll have to change our appearances," she explains, holding up hair dye and scissors.
I sit on a chair and she pulls out two boxes of hair dye.
"Red or blonde?" she asks.
"Blonde," I answer.
She opens up the box and sets to work dyeing my hair. When she's done, she lets it stay in for 15 minutes before washing it out. Next, she grabs the scissors.
"I'll have to cut it pretty short to change your appearance enough," she warns me and I just shrug. I don't mind whether my hair is short or long.
When she's done, she blows dry my hair and allows me to look in the mirror. I gasp at my appearance, I look completely different and even slightly older.
My hair is now cut just above my shoulders into a bob. It is now also a stark blonde in comparison to my usually dull, brown hair.
Joss also hands me a packet of coloured contact lenses that will turn my green eyes a deep blue. I thank her with a small hug and she directs me to one of the rooms where I can take a nap. I'm utterly exhausted.
I collapse down on the soft mattress and fall asleep before my head even touches the pillow.
