Chapter 3: Going Strong

07:27, 14 June 2022

Daniel sighed as he sild his letter of resignation towards the convenience store manager with his phone gripped in his left hand, subtly recording the interaction.

The manager seemed to hold surprise before his face softened to one of understanding.

"I understand," The manager picked up Daniel's notice and folded it neatly before placing it in his pocket for later documentation. "I wasn't expecting you to stay here forever yet, I feel like you're leaving too soon." The manager smiled at Daniel before he turned and disappeared behind the door marked 'Staff Only'.

Daniel felt bad, he liked that job but was quickly brought back up by the 62,492 won (1,000 USD) that was quickly transferred to his bank account.

Daniel gave a small smile as he blacked out his screen and walked out of the small store.

Once the cold night air hit his face, he checked his bank account.

Daniel was ecstatic. He immediately began a walk down to a more expensive part of town. He wanted to buy his beautiful mother some new clothes to say thank you for everything she's ever done for him. Though, he vowed to himself to buy her more than just clothes when he gets more money.

As he passed through the crowded sidewalks, he passed by a rather nice-looking store that seemed just a bit out of his budget when he did a quick window shop and kept walking.

After passing some stores that didn't catch Daniel's eye, he rounded the corner and passed by a diner. He caught the scent of mixed foods and coffee and slowed his pace. Maybe I should get a coffee.

As he walked back towards the door, his phone chimed. Daniel checked the notification and saw an incoming challenge.

Once inside the diner, have a seat in one of the red booths.

This one caught his eye as there was no accept or decline button. It was just a 'do it' situation. He sighed and walked in, inhaling the mouthwatering scents and finding a red booth as instructed.

A few minutes after he sat down, his phone chimed again. Daniel checked the challenge that popped up on the screen.

Look around the diner for a blonde guy.

Daniel did as told and scanned his surroundings.

His eyes wandered over the booth farthest from him and saw a blonde guy with an obvious undercut staring out of the window with his chin resting on his hand. Daniel could only see his back but could see the man's muscles flex from under his thin black shirt.

Daniel caught himself staring as a waiter came over with a complimentary pot of coffee and a cup. Daniel focused his attention on his blacked-out phone screen and snuck glances at the man as the exhausted waiter poured his cup and walked back to the counter.

Daniel flinched when the sudden chime came from his phone.

Go over to him and kiss him.

Offer: 128,494 won (100 USD)

Daniel was caught off guard by the challenge and shook his head, whispering to his phone about how he couldn't do that.

Daniel turned on his phone and clicked on the Game's icon. There, he saw that it was already on a live stream that showed where he was. He saw his red face in the front-facing cam as the live chat went wild. Almost all of them wanted Daniel to kiss the blonde stranger.

"No, no I can't do that to him. I don't know him," He whispered and shouted as his face grew into a strawberry.

The challenge popped up again.

Go over there and kiss him!Offer: 321,192 won (250 USD)

The chat went wild again. They were looking forward to this. Daniel sighed and stood at his booth with his phone in his hand. The chat was now passing in a quick blur as Daniel approached the stranger.

He cleared his throat before standing by the blonde's side. Daniel hesitantly tapped his shoulder and made meaningless small talk as he tried to convince himself that he'd never see this man again.

He was a mumbling mess and was acutely aware of the embarrassing situation. It didn't help that he saw the man carry an amused smirk and the chat going crazy.

One message, in particular, stuck out to him. "They offered you money to kiss the dude not talk to him!"

That did Daniel in. He sucked in a breath before mumbling an "I'm sorry," grabbed the man's face and gently pressed their lips together.

Daniel felt something spark in his body. Something so wrong that felt so right but, he couldn't help but think about Zoe. What did she feel when she did this to him? Did she feel guilty using him for money like Daniel was right now with this stranger?

Daniel felt the stranger wrap his fingers around his wrist. Daniel's heart sped up even more, not from the adrenaline. The man's fingers were slender and warm as they snaked their way to Daniel's jaw. In the coming seconds, Daniel forgot about everything, his phone, the diner, the people watching him, even his embarrassment. It was just him. Him and a beautiful stranger that happened to fall victim to one of Daniel's challenges yet, he couldn't help but thank his lucky stars that this was happening.

Daniel was pulled back to reality too fast for his liking and let out an audible whine when the stranger pulled away. That's when the embarrassment hit him. He glanced at his phone to see the chat standing still like they were in some form of shock too. Then Daniel saw it, the initial 321,192 won (250 USD) turned into 1,258,370 won (1,000 USD) with added donations.

Daniel was beyond happy. But, what about this stranger? Daniel returned his gave to the handsome man in front of him. This time, he was able to get a good look at him.

He had blonde bangs that covered the most beautiful part of a person, the eyes, pale skin, and a very prominent dust of red on his defined face.

Daniel was sure he was no different when it came to embarrassed. He cleared his throat and stood up straight dusting himself off.

"I'm very sorry for what just happened. I know this must be very weird right? A complete stranger kissing you out of nowhere?" Daniel laughed nervously before apologizing again. "Well, I'll be going..."

Daniel quickly and awkwardly walked out of the diner and down the sidewalk of the clothing shops he wanted to check before calling it a day.
