——————————CHAPTER 29No One Can Mess With Kuroo's Girl——————————

The room fell silent, not a sound of a single whisper could be heard. All eyes were on you, watching your every expression with either curiosity or worry. You remained standing, your lips curved downwards while your fists clenched.

"Who did this?" You repeated, lifting your head and roaming your eyes around the room as you searched for whoever was guilty.

In front of you was your desk, a word written in hiragana scribbled largely that it covered the whole area reading 'SLUT'. Your bag was on the floor; opened, and everything was scattered around. What was worse was seeing how your sketchpad was torn, its pages ripped and crumpled.

You could feel your heart sinking at the thought of betrayal. You were in good terms with everyone in class, or at least you had a civil relationship with them. There wasn't anyone coming to mind who would do such childish thing.

"Who knows? But you deserve it, don't you?" A feminine voice cut through the silence, and your eyes instantly darted to her direction. "Slut."

Kuroo wasn't in the room, neither was Yaku. Lunch break had just ended, and you went to eat lunch with them along with Kai, a fellow third year in the male's volleyball club. But they had to stop by in the clubroom for a moment, so you decided to go back to the classroom first, only to see such unacceptable scene.

"Was it you?" You calmly asked her, although deep within you were seething with anger, you didn't want your emotions to get the best of you. "Rika?"

The girl had fairly long and wavy blonde hair, usually tied in a high ponytail. She had brown eyes, which looked back at you with a vicious stare. "It's wrong to blindly blame people, you know?"

You scoffed. You could remember hanging out with her and her friends a few times, and you two may not be that close, but you were sure you were in good terms.

"Ah, is that so?" You moved your gaze to the guy sitting next to you. He immediately jolted and fidgeted nervously, looking down on his desk to avoid meeting your eyes. "Mashiro-san? Do you know who did this?"

Getting no response, you sighed. Your face was blank, but you were breaking inside. You were angry, sad, and frustrated. You didn't know what you did for anyone to do such thing to you, but you couldn't speak about it. Instead, you just bent down and started picking up your things.

"Aw, look at her. Pretending to be pitiful." Rika commented teasingly, leaning over her desk with her cheek rested on her palm as she looked at you.

"Hey, Rika! Stop it. What did she even do to you?" The class representative yelled, who had got back just a few minutes before you did. She stood up from her seat, frowning at the blonde student. "I will report this to the teachers! Do you have any idea what you're doing?"

"Hah?" Rika shot her a glare, crossing her arms in front of her chest. "Well, you guys are ignorant, aren't you all?"

"What are you saying? You're the two-faced one here!"

You remained quiet, still crouching on the floor as you looked at the ripped pages of your sketchpad. Your things were still scattered around, and you just didn't have the strength to pick them up. The sight broke your heart, specially when you saw the pieces of art you've worked hard on torn and crumpled like that. That included a recent drawing of Kuroo that you secretly sketched while he was asleep. It was quite embarrassing to think that your classmates saw it too.

"I mean, don't you guys wonder how (L/N) managed to top our class? She didn't even attend classes in the first sem! Ah! Guess what? Rei-chan confessed that (L/N) was paying her in exchange of test answers and cheats!" Rika announced with a victorious smirk, pointing at the said student.

Your ears perked up at the information, making you frown as you turned to the quiet and shy student sitting at the first row. You remember her, of course. She was the one informing you about the class lessons, or the schedules of your quizzes and tests. That was it. You never asked her for answers, and you didn't pay her with money. It was a give and take relationship by giving her illustrations for her novel. And all that ended in the first semester.

The girl trembled in her seat, lowering her head as she hid from the others' stares, only peeking to meet yours. She shook her head, mouthing something you could interpret as, "I didn't." She looked so scared, but she didn't seem guilty. Still, you couldn't really trust her anymore. Nor anyone else.

"Is that true?"

"Geez, I wonder what Kuroo-kun saw in you." Rika added, shrugging her shoulders. A smirk appeared on her lips noticing how some started to look at you with judgement, and how you shrank on the floor as you clenched against your bag.

"You cheated so you could get good grades. Who knows if you even gave services to the teachers? Considering you're Kuroo-san's hoe and all."

"I mean, you repeatedly claimed you weren't dating, but everyone knows you're always together. Oh! Someone even saw you going in his house at night."

"What could jealousy do, Rika?" Somehow, some people were still standing up for you. And you were thankful, even though you can't look at them yet. "Aren't you just jealous of (L/N)-san because she's better than you?"

"Hah? Why would I be jealous? She's just one of his sluts! Kuroo-kun sleeps with any girl he could. He's basically a manwhore."

You stood up, your eyes darting back to her direction with a sharp glare. You could endure how she talked bad about you, but you couldn't take how she talked badly about him, when none of it was even true. Ignoring everyone's gazes, you marched towards her direction, accidentally even stepping on your notebooks.

"C-Calm down, (L/N)-san!" A student you passed by tried to stop you, but nothing could. You stopped in front of Rika's table, slamming your palm against her desk.

"What did you just say about Kuroo?" You growled, grabbing her by the collar of her blouse. You weren't physically strong as a person, but somehow, you just had the strength to grab her.

"(L/N)-san, don't let her get to you!"

"I won't tolerate violence! You two stop right now or I'll call the teachers!"

None of anyone else's voices could reach you, you only focused on her with a deadly glare, your grip tightening on her collar. She grabbed your wrists, digging her nails on your skin as she tried to pull your hand away, but your hold would only tighten, as if your life depended on it.

"Let go off me! You're basically admitting everything is true!"

"Take back what you said about my boyfriend, you bitch." You demanded, seemingly unfazed. You also emphasized how you referred to him, knowing it would irritate her more. "I could accept you talking baseless shit about me, but take back what you said about him."

"I said let go!" She lifted her hand up, slapping her palm against your cheek.

The impact caused your face to turn sideways, and your glasses flew off your face, hitting the window before it fell on the floor.

"You fucking—" You lifted your hand as well, readying to slap her face as well.

"What's are you doing?" But then Kuroo's voice echoed in the room, followed by the silence of everyone present as they all turned to the direction of the door where he, along with Yaku, stood.

His eyes roamed around, finding you standing in front of a classmate as you gripped on her collar, and seemed to be about to slap her. From an outsider who didn't know what was going on, it would seem as if you were bullying her, but Kuroo knew you weren't that type of person. His eyes then found your desk, his forehead creasing at the insult largely written on it, and then to your things lying on the floor.

His jaw tightened, anger building up in him. "Yaku." He quietly called, shooting his friend a look that was easily interpreted between them.

The shorter male nodded and made his way to your desk, while Kuroo walked towards you and pulled you away from the girl.

Somehow, Rika was able to produce fake tears as she looked up at him. "Kuroo-kun!" But it didn't matter to him, he didn't care about her, specially when he saw your wrist was bleeding.

The room remained silent as he grabbed your other hand and began pulling you out of the classroom without saying anything. Your heart has been feeling heavy, and you've been keeping in your tears. But it all fell as soon as you two were out of sight. You immediately wiped them off, wincing at the stinging pain around your wrist from when she dug her nails in.

Stopping inside the infirmary, Kuroo told you to sit down. For some reason, the nurse was out, and he decided to do the first aid himself. He calmly sat down next to you, holding the bandage and disinfectant as well as other materials.

"You shouldn't have stoop down to her level." He uttered, and it was the cue for your tears to fall again.

"She..." It was hard to speak with the lump in your throat, and the shakiness of your voice. "N-Nevermind. Just consider it my fault."

You snatched your hand away from him. "Forget it. It doesn't hurt."

"Hey, (Y/N)..." Kuroo called softly, gently tilting your head to face him. He only now noticed the redness on your cheek, and your missing glasses. "I'm not angry, and I trust you. I know you wouldn't do anything like that for no reason, but... You shouldn't have—" Cutting himself off, he shook his head to himself. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said what I said." He sighed.

"Did she do that? Your things."

"Dunno." You replied coldly, but you were calmer and allowed him to fix your wound. "No one told the truth."

"What did she say to you?"

"I don't care about what she said about me." You uttered through gritted teeth. "But she fucking called you a—"

"Nothing." You finished. Noticing he was done bandaging your wound, you stood up and immediately started walking to the door. "I'm going back. I don't want to miss any class."

Kuroo sighed frustratedly as he watched the door close. He ran a hand through his hair before standing up, following back to the classroom. His eyes immediately found Rika's guilty ones, and he shot her a stern look, purposely passing through her desk. "Meet me at the back of the building after class." He commanded.

———

The next day, you didn't have the motivation to attend class, but you still forced yourself and woke up early. As usual, you walked with Kuroo and Kenma on your way to school, but the only difference was that it felt awkward. You weren't talking to him, even until you reached your school and classroom.

Thankfully, your glasses didn't break, but it had a small scratch on its lens when Yaku retrieved it for you.

"She's here." As you opened the door, that was the first thing you heard, and you braced yourself for another bullshit.

"Hey, (L/N)'s here. You told us to tell you once she arrives."

Your eyes immediately looked at your desk, but it seemed normal; cleaned, in fact. Yaku did erase the writings yesterday, but there were stains left when you got back. Now, there wasn't any sign of markings left.

"U-Uhm, (L/N)-san..." Your attention moved towards a blonde student when she called you. She stood on the podium at the front of the class as she looked at you nervously.

Taking a deep breath, Rika bowed a full 90 degrees, her hands properly kept on her behind. "I'm really sorry!"

"None of what I said was true. I'm sorry, I hope you could forgive me!"

The action surprised you and everyone else, some of them snickering at the sight, while the class rep sighed in relief and smiled. Her close friend, Yoshida, simply rolled her eyes and scoffed.

"Ah, whatever." You replied nonchalantly, passing by her as you made your way to your seat. Before you sat down, however, you turned to her again with a demanding expression. "Apologize to Kuroo, not me."

Everyone was watching, and they all saw how the said man let out a surprised and confused reaction as he still stood by the door.

Yaku can't help but watch with amusement. He heard it yesterday when Kuroo told the girl to meet him, and he purposely went there to eavesdrop out of curiosity. It was because of him that Rika was now making a public apology in front of the class, and he can't help but admire the relationship you and Kuroo had, considering the turn of events.

"W-Well... Uhm..." Everyone was looking at Rika with anticipation; waiting for her to do as you asked. They knew why you became violent to her yesterday, and though a lot of them didn't like what happened, there were those who understood your feelings.

"Kuroo-kun, I'm sorry!" She bowed down again. "It was because I called you a manwhore... I'm sorry!"

Ah, love. Yaku can't help but chuckle as he watched your and Kuroo's expressions. Kuroo, who went through lengths to make sure Rika wouldn't bother you again. And you, who lost your patience when Rika insulted him, when you didn't even care about her badmouthing you. You two defended each other, and it was a really nice relationship to have.

Everything then came back to normal.
