'That was awkward,' Sophie thought as she made her way down to the kitchen.

"Edaline!" 

Edaline looked up from her mixing bowl, her eyebrows creased in concern. 

"Is something wrong?" she asked, worried. 

"Yes, it's Grady and Keefe," Sophie simply stated, yet Edaline instantly understood what she was talking about. 

"Oh gosh, what has Grady done now," she sighed, wiping her arm on her yellow apron.

They quickly made their way towards Grady's study and forcefully pulled the door open. Inside, Grady was giving Keefe a death stare while Keefe stood to the corner meekly. 

"What is going on?" Sophie asked after a minute of silence. Grady was still glaring at Keefe and Edaline just gave an exasperated sigh. This was clearly not new to her. 

"Don't worry," she told a bemused Keefe, "Grady did this to Brant too, back when--" her breath hitched, and tears began to form under Edaline's eyes. 

Grady moved to comfort his wife, but she put her hand out to stop him. 

She blinked back the tears and kept her head held high.

 "Sorry," she apologised, wringing her hands. "I just get emotional at times. Anyway, as I was saying, no need to be too stressed out, Keefe. Grady has this effect on everyone." 

She glared at her husband, who shrugged innocently.

"Um, as much as we would like to stay here and chat with you guys, Keefe and I have to go um, meet up with our friends at Everglen," Sophie said, pulling Keefe out of the room before things became even more awkward. 

"Do we actually have to meet up with them?" Keefe asked once they were out of earshot. 

"No," Sophie rolled her eyes. "Do you ever pay attention?" 

"Nope," Keefe replied, popping the p. 

Just then, Sophie's imparter rang. <<horrible transition, I know>>

"Hello?" 

"Hey!" Biana's face popped up on the screen, her gorgeous teal eyes shining. She seemed to be in a very good mood. 

"Guess what," she asked excitedly. 

"What?" Sophie and Keefe asked at the same time. 

"Oh hi Keefe, didn't see you there. Anyway, Tam asked me out!"

Sophie gasped. "Oh my gosh! Does Linh know yet?" 

"I think so, I'm not sure," Biana replied.

"But to celebrate, we should totally have a sleepover tonight! I'll even invite the guys," 

Sophie nodded in approval.

"I'll just let Grady and Edaline know I'm staying the night at your house. They know I'm going there anyway," 

"Keefe?" 

Keefe thought to himself for a second before nodding. 

"I'll be there," 

"Great!" If possible, Biana's great mood seemed to have been lifted higher. The girl practically glowed. 

"See you guys later!" And with that, she ended the call.

"Bye Mom! Bye Dad!" Sophie said, grabbing her teal duffel bag as she made her way towards the leapmaster. 

"Everglen!" She commanded, getting whisked away into the light.
