Chapter 12

I stand trying to understand the situation. I get in my car and drive to Jefforys parents. Abby looks confused as they let me in with their tear stained faces. Abby is crying too. But I'm positive no one has told her anything."What happened?!" She asks me sobbing I look at her grandparents and they signaling me to tell her."Y-Y-Y-Your father got in an accident..." I say with a few tears following."Is it bad?!?" She says with a panic struck face.I nod. The rest of that night was a blur. I remember going to the hospital with Abby and sitting in a chair while he was in surgery. She eventually fell asleep on my lap while waiting. I sat there listening to the drills in the operating room. Eventually Nicole came. She walked over and I moved Abby to a couch and hugged Nicole. I was sobbing in her arms. I couldn't believe it. I finally had everything I've wanted then it just all disappeared. I heard the doors open and the wheel him to a room. We all follow till we talk with the Doctor."It went good, but we are worried he won't wake up in time." The doctor states. "What does that mean!?" I say frantically."I means we are 75% sure that he will wake up within a week, but if not the surgery failed..." He says. I look down at Abby who is heartbroken, she already lost her mom to cancer, now her dad! I won't let that happen. We walk in the room. Abby lets go of my hand and walks over to Jeffory."Dad?" She says in this saddening tone."Daddy it's me Abby..." She falls to the ground sobbing.That's all it took for me to lose my composure and fall with her.
