57. Final Farewell

07:04, 25 December 2019

We sit in silence, waiting. It's been two hours since we fled to the vans, and only once has a pair of cops arrested a group of Sparked Mafia members. There's probably a trillion more members to deal with, though. Did something bad happen inside?

"Maybe I should go inside," I say restlessly, shrugging a blanket off my shoulders and leaning towards the door.

"Tell me you're joking." Jimin mutters, putting the soft material back on top of me.

I turn to him. "It's been so long! Whatever's happening in there-"

"Is none of your business." He cuts me off calmly. "You need to focus on staying here, where it's safe. You just went through a traumatic situation, so why the hell would you go back to the place where it took place?"

Normally I would've rebutted him by saying that we were both capable to take them on, him being a bodyguard and me having taken years of self-defense classes. But I'm tired. I'm tired of realizing over and over again that I'll never be the person I swore to become when my mother died. I'll never be strong enough, clever enough, swift enough, to thrive in a dangerous situation.

"Kyung Mi, if you're thinking of ways to convince me to go back in there-"

I shake my head. "The very opposite, actually." I stare into his eyes hopelessly. "Jimin, how come I'm only now accepting that I'll never been good enough when it comes to defending myself? I'm too reckless for my own good and I overestimate my abilities." I heave a sigh and he scoots closer to me, allowing me to take in breaths of his clean scent.

He wraps his arm around my shoulders. "You know, having faith in your abilities is necessary to fight well. You should acknowledge the fact that you're freaking strong." I chuckle and his grip on me tightens. "I'm serious, Kyung Mi. You're so talented and brave and gorgeou-"

He stops short and my head whips towards him. His cheeks are tinted red and suddenly he drops his arm and turns his head away from me. Blood rushes to my cheeks as I see his actions confirm what I heard.

"He called you gorgeous, Kyung Mi!" Hye suddenly appears from the driver's seat and runs over.

"Ah, that's enough now." Jimin hurriedly covers her lips with his hand. Her complaints are muffled as his grip on her mouth is strong. He turns his head at me. "Just...forget that I said that, okay?"

I don't try to hide my smile. "Hye? How about you go check up on Namjoon?" I suggest, and she takes the hint and slips away. I stand up and gently take Jimin's hand before sitting us down.

"I don't want to forget it." I look at him in the eyes and smile, moving a piece of hair from his dark eye. He doesn't flinch. "You know, you won't be my bodyguard after today. So you won't get distracted protecting me if we..." I trail off and lean closer without thinking. He gets closer too, and soon we're centimeters away. I can feel the warmth radiating off of him.

We make eye contact and my eyes flick down to his full, pink lips. I can't look away.

"Kyung Mi-"

"Shh." I close the distance between us and press my lips against his. His mouth opens for me immediately and I intake his sweet taste in our gentle moment of passion.

I wrap my arms around his neck and pull him closer as his hands find their way into my hair, and immediately tingles erupt where he caresses my head. I moan softly, causing him to sigh and kiss me softer, deeper.

The moment passes too quickly as we pull away. We stay there for a moment, foreheads together, buzzing excitement and comfortable warmth rushing through me. I can't stop the smile from erupting on my face as I giggle.

"What's so funny?" He asks sultrily, talking against my cheek.

"Nothing, I'm just happy." I lift my head back and look at his eyes, breaking into a grin upon seeing his beautiful face. "Hurry up and stop being my bodyguard already, so that we can do that all the time."

He beams, face glowing. "Oh, believe me, I want to." He bites his bottom lip before looking down at mine, then shakes his head. He gets up. "I need space or else I won't be able to control myself. Ah, screw it."

He leans down and gives me a peck before growling. "I hope you're ready for me, Lee Kyung Mi."

Butterflies start wrecking havoc in my stomach at his words, and he smirks before walking over to Hye and Namjoon in the front section of the van.

Damn, I'm in trouble.

"Guys!" I call. "Look, the cops are coming out!"

Streams of officers suddenly leave the Sparked Mafia headquarters, leading cuffed members to their cars. We open the van door and are greeted by a chorus of noise, beautiful laments of the disgusting people who have caused so much harm to so many.

Jimin stands behind me, putting his arm on the small of my back.

"Hyukjae." Hye mutters, pointing to the right of the crowd of people. I look over and see the spiteful man in handcuffs, and a rush of happiness runs upwards to my lips, turning them upward into a satisfying smile. Finally, finally he'll be locked up in the cold cell where he deserves to rot.

I guess this is our final farewell to him.

a/n: Say what you want about this story, but at least after two years of starting, re-starting, then partly editing it's done! From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank every single one of you who took the time to read this and especially you regulars who came quickly every time I updated.

I love you guys, and I will say that sometime in the future I wanna post another story, but a disclaimer that it will not be a fanfic--I want to bring an original story to the mix ;)

See you maybe soon
