13. Back To Classes
07:48, 27 July 2016The holidays were great, and New Year's Day amazing.
Dean had to admit that it was fun with Gabriel around, even though he got slightly annoying sometimes.
Castiel enjoyed everything too. It made Dean happy to see his eyes light up at the simplest things. It reminded him of a young child, and that's what made him laugh.
But today was the last day of break before having to go back to classes, and all the boys spent the whole day together.
It eventually became late in the day and Dean and Castiel had to go upstairs to pack. Of course Sam then became really sad and didn't want to talk to anyone, which was when Gabriel had to go and calm him down. This also made Dean upset.
Castiel shut the bedroom door and walked over to Dean. "It'll be alright."
Dean scrubbed his face with his hands and nodded. "I know. It just hurts me to see him like that."
"I know. But you guys can still call and visit each other." Castiel answered and started rubbing circles on Dean's back.
Dean nodded and continued packing. Castiel kissed his cheek and zipped up his bag, finished. "I am going to take these out to the car, alright?"
He nodded again and watched Castiel leave the room. When the door clicked shut, he sat down on the bed and stared down at his boots.
He was always worried about his brother. Sam struggled and had these moments where he seemed lost and gone from the world, and it really scared Dean.
And what was with him being so emotional all the sudden??
That's what confused Dean the most. Maybe it was just hard for him to be gone since it had always been him and Sam ever since they were so young.
Castiel came back and helped him finish, and in no time it was time for them to leave. Dean hugged Sam and said goodbye to Gabriel before walking out of the house and getting in the driver's seat. Castiel followed after saying goodbye to both the boys.
There wasn't much talking during the trip back to campus, mostly just the soft music playing from the radio and Castiel trying to keep himself awake (he was a night owl, not to mention him and Dean would be up and talking, and the nightmares he had a lot of).
It kind of worried Dean how much sleep he was losing, mostly his fault. But once school started again it would be fine.
"Baby, just go to sleep okay? We've still got about an hour and a half until we get there." Dean sighed slightly.
"I'm fine, Dean." He sat up a little straighter, trying to show he wasn't as tired and could stay awake.
"No, you're not. Get some sleep."
Castiel began to protest but was too tired, and gave in to his tiredness.
Dean smiled a little and continued driving back to campus.
A little while later Dean got out of the car and went to Castiel's side and shook him awake. "Hey, we're here. Wake up."
Castiel sat straight up. "Really," he stretched. "I feel great." He got out of the car and in fact, was not tired at all.
"How..." Dean watched him, surprised at how someone could sleep for two hours and wake up completely awake.
"When I actually fall asleep, I go into a deep sleep and that's when I wake up fine." Castiel got his bag and his giant stuffed bee out of the back of the car and handed Dean his bag.
Dean shook his head. "Cas, that is inhuman."
He shrugged. "It just happens."
It was about lunch time when they got there so they went to their dorms and put their stuff away. They found each other and followed the rest of the students to the Cafe.
"Classes start the day after tomorrow." Castiel said in between bites of a cheeseburger.
"They do? I thought they were tomorrow." Dean said.
"No. Today we had to check back in, tomorrow they are letting us get prepared and then the day after is when classes actually start."
"Oh..." Dean thought for a second. "Would you like to go out tonight then?"
Castiel blushed lightly. "Yes, I would love to."
Dean smiled and they finished the rest of their lunch, figuring out the details of what their night would be.
Dean got ready around the time he said he would go and get Cas. He didn't have to do much, just changed into his new leather jacket and fixed his hair in the mirror.
He got to Cas' dorm right on time and knocked on the door.
The door swung open to reveal a guy with short blond hair and a green over-shirt. "Well, well, well, Cas. Who is this handsome man?"
Dean rolled his eyes and muttered under his breath. "Speak of the devil."
He leaned on the door frame, cool and casual. "Baby, I'm your worst nightmare."
"Lucifer," Cas called from behind. "Stop harassing my boyfriend and move out of the way."
"Ooooh, Cassy's fighting back. This is your boyfriend? The famous Dean Winchester that I keep hearing about? Ya' know, he's much more hot than you've made him out to be."
Castiel shoved him out of the way and stood in front of Dean, looking flustered and agitated. "I said stop."
Lucifer chuckled and winked at Dean.
Castiel took Dean's hand, who was trying really hard not to laugh, and lead him out of the building.
"You know, you get all cute when you're agitated like that."
"Shut up, Dean Winchester." Castiel shot back.
It made Dean laugh even more as he got in his Impala and started the engine, Castiel sitting harshly in the passenger side.
It didn't take long to get to the diner that they had planned to have dinner at. They were seated immediately and began thinking about what they would order.
"The cheeseburgers and fries here are amazing, and a milkshake with it makes it legendary." Dean scanned through the menu.
"Have you been here before?" Castiel asked, looking up from his menu.
"Yes, and it's great."
They both ordered the same thing and talked and made jokes while they ate.
"You're right, this was amazing!" Castiel said when he was done.
"I told you." Dean smiled and paid the bill.
They were about to leave the dark parking lot when Castiel looked at Dean. "I don't want to go back yet."
Dean stared at him. He couldn't help it.
He leaned in and kissed Castiel, surprising him slightly. He warmed up to it and wrapped his arms around Dean's neck.
They stayed in the parking lot for a while, eventually getting a little heated.
Castiel stopped and looked at Dean, his hair a mess, his trench coat somewhere, and his white button-up shirt- unbuttoned.
Dean looked pretty much the same.
Cas took his hand and got back in his seat. He looked at Dean.
Dean smiled and nodded, buckling his seat belt and driving back to campus.
Dean couldn't stop thinking about how unreal Castiel looked in the soft glow of city lights, his hair a mess and his shirt still unbuttoned.
As they drove back to campus, Castiel never took his eyes off Dean and held his hand the whole time.
God. I'm so lucky to be in love with Dean Winchester.
