Chapter 30

"Kate, wake up. You dont wanna go to school?" Dad pulls my blanket away and make me open my eyes.

"Dad, it's freezing." I said to him and pull my blanket back to cover my body.

"Of course because it's winter." Dad says to me and sit down on edge of my bed.

I cant stop sneezing and pull the blanket to make me warm. "I'm not feeling well, dad. It's like I ate the whole pepper last night so I cant stop sneezing." I said to dad.

Dad place his hand on my forehead and my cheek. "You're burning up. That flu isnt gone?" Dad asks me.

"No. But getting worse." I shake my head.

Dad sighs and stand up from my bed. I look at him and he open the first aid box and take the thermometer and give it to me.

"I'll bring your breakfast here. I will call your school that you cant go to school today." Dad says to me and walk out from my room.

I let out a sigh and put the thermometer in my armpit and still laying my body in my bed and cover my body with blanket. Flu is sucks. And now I have to skip my valentines week with Jake. Ugh that was bad.

My phone is suddenly vibrating. I take my phone from my side table and Jake is looking for me. I feel like I dont have any energy to answer his text. I'm so weak, sleepy, shevering, and feels like my head is spinning around because of this flu.

"Here I made you cream soup, herbal tea, and some vitamins." Dad walks into my room and bring a food tray. He sit down on the edge of my bed and place the food tray on my side table then take the thermometer from my armpit. "You really got flu. I will call the doctor to come here." Dad says to me.

"You dont need to." I shake my head.

"Kate, your flu getting worse because you dont wanna see the doctor and since you dont wanna go to the doctor, I will call the doctor to come here so you cant run away." Dad says to me and stand up from my bed. "I'll be right back. If you need anything just call me and dont forget eat your breakfast I made." Dad says and walk out from my room.

That's my dad. Cool one but I know that he is so much full with affection and protective one. I sit up on my bed and lean my back against the wall with some pillows help me to lean on.

Dad walks back to my room and sit down on the edge of my bed. "Dad, my head spinning around." I said to him.

"I already call the doctor and he will come immediately. Now eat this soup. It might be already cold." Dad says to me and take the soup bowl.

"This is bad I cant have my first valentine with Jake." I sigh.

"You want to get recovery or not? Think about your health first, valentines day can wait." Dad simply said while feeding me.

"Dad, you dont go to work?" I ask him.

"You got high fever and I wont leave you alone. Carole and Finn already went to work and who gonna taking care of you here except me?" Dad raises his eyebrows at me.

"Nobody." I simply said.

"Now you know that. I learnt how to take care of you and Kurt when you both got sick from your mom. She was the best at that." Dad says to me.

"And now you're the best one." I chuckle.

"Someone's getting lazy to not go to school?" Kurt's voice.

I turn my face and Kurt is standing in front of my room door and grins at us. "Kurt?" I smile back at him.

"I'm home." Kurt chuckles and walks into my room then hug us. "Three days to Mr. Schue's wedding and spend my valentines week at home will be amazing." Kurt grins at us.

"Yeah it is." I simply nodded.

"What happened to you? Are you sick?" Kurt frowns at me.

Suddenly the door bell ring. "Yes, your sister got high fever. That must be the doctor. I'll he right back." Dad says to us and walk out from my room.

"I though you dont wanna miss your first valentine with another Puckerman." Kurt says to me.

"I dont want to actually but I got flu since three days ago and it's getting worse and worse." I said to him.

"I can see that you look really pale." Kurt nodded and pull the blanket to cover up my body. "Want me to bring you a shawl?" Kurt asks me.

"You dont need to." I shake my head.

Dad walks back to my room with the doctor behind him. Kurt stand up from my bed and let the doctor checking me out.

"How old is she?" The doctor asks dad.

"She is seventeenth." Dad said to the doctor.

The doctor is still checking me out then take a receipt paper from his bag and give it to dad. "She got H3N2 Flu. It's flu season. She might have to bed rest for about one week or more." The doctor says to dad.

"Shall I bring her to the hospital?" Dad asks the doctor.

"How her last body temperature?" The doctor asks dad.

"103.28 degrees." Dad answer.

"If her body reach up to 104 or more bring her to the hospital. I give her cough drop, fever killer, and vitamin C with extra dose." The doctor says to dad.

"Thank you, doc. Thank you." Dad says to the doctor as they both walk out from my room.

"Okay, you take a rest. This is a serious fever." Kurt says to me and help me to lay my body in my bed.

"Okay." I sigh.

Kurt pull the blanket to cover my body then take the food tray and bring it out from my room. This is a serious fever that's why I feel like my body really weak and not feel good. But glad that dad and Kurt are here.

Sam's POV

I walk to the choir room and look around. Kate isnt here. Where is she? I've been looking for her since this morning and I saw Jake is always alone and she didnt answer my text or anything.

I sit down on the front seat and look around. Still she isnt here. Even Jake is sitting down on his seat alone.

"Alright guys, valentines week and Mr. Schue's wedding in three days. And he is busy with planning his wedding so I'm here to take over. He want us to sing on his wedding." Finn says to us.

"That would be..." Tina frowns.

"Awesome." Blaine simply said.

"Wait, at least we have to wait for the others. I mean we lost many voices here." Tina protest.

"Well, the others are having Asian Bird Flu." Finn says to us.

"Include Kate?" Blaine frowns.

"Kate got high fever this morning and Burt called me couple minutes ago that she got H3N2 flu which make her to have bedrest for at least one week." Finn half-smiled at us.

"That's why she didnt answer all my text or my call?" Jake simply asks.

"Ugh bo-hoo. I know it must be suck to have valentines week in the bed." Tina mocked Jake.

"Well, I can still have my valentines week with her." Jake proudly said.

"Alright, alright let's focus and talk about the song we are going to sing for Mr. Schue's wedding." Finn says to us.

Blaine and I look at each other and nodded. Well, Jake might can said that he can have valentines with her. But he has to know that last year or even this year I can always have the best valentines gift for her. I will give Kate the best valentines gift that no one can imagine.

"You sure she will like it?" Blaine asks me as we are on the way to Kate's house.

"No one in her house allergic with a dog." I simply said and park my car in front of Kate's house.

I went out from my car and take the box from my backseat. Blaine went out from my car and he press the bell and hope that someone is with Kate in her house.

"Kurt?" Blaine frowns as Kurt open the door.

"H-hey Blaine. You too, Sam." Kurt half-smiled at us and let us in.

"You went home." Blaine says to him.

"Yeah-yeah. For Mr. Schue's wedding and spending my valentines week at home and was about to ask Kate to go out with me but she is sick. What are you guys doing here by the way?" Kurt raises his eyebrows at us.

"Ugh we want to meet her. Want to give her a surprise and maybe she could get better." I said to Kurt.

"Just come in. She is upstairs in her room and dont be noisy, my dad is taking nap." Kurt half-smiled at us and walk away.

I hold that box and about to walk upstairs until Blaine just standing frozen and starring at Kurt. I roll my eyes and nodges at him until he turn his face at me and walk upstairs with me.

I open Kate's bedroom door. And she just lay her body in her bed and close her eyes. "Dad?" Kate open her eyes slowly and look at us. "You guys?"

"Hey, Finn told us that you're sick so we went here and want to give you this." Blaine says to her and points to a box.

"What is that?" Kate asks weakly.

I smile at her and place the box on the ground and then take that puppy from the box. "Special valentines gift for Miss Hummel, our diva." I smile at her.

"Aww that's cute. Thank you guys." Kate smiles back at us.

"That was Sam's idea actually. I'm just following him. I hope that this could make you feel better." Blaine smiles at her.

"Thank you. This is the sweetest valentines gift I ever got." Kate chuckles.

"Of course it is." I make an impression.

"Well, I guess I'm gonna talk to Kurt." Blaine says to us and walk off.

I place the dog on Kate's bed and help her body to sit up on the bed with her back leaning against the wall and pillows. After that I sit down on the edge of her bed and hold that dog.

"This is super sweet." Kate says to me and rubs the puppy's hair.

"My name is McConaughey." I make an impression while holding that puppy. "Feeling better now?" I ask Kate.

"Not really. I feel like my whole body is sick." Kate says weakly.

"Kate, time for soup part two." Burt walks in bring a food tray. "Also time for drink your medicine."

"Dad, I'm fine." Kate sighs.

"No. Eat this or I wont let that puppy live here." Burt simply said.

"Dad..." Kate rolls her eyes.

"Here, let me take that. I'll make sure, she will eat that." I said to Burt and take the food tray.

"Okay good then. Make sure she eat that and drink her medicine, Sam." Burt says to me and walk out from Kate's room.

"I hate my dad and Kurt sometimes. They become 24hours emergency nurse when I get sick." Kate sighs.

"Isnt that good? Come on open your mouth." I said to her and feed her the soup.

"Did you see Jake?" Kate asks me.

"Yeah. He didnt go here?" I raise my eyebrows.

"Oh forget it's Tuesday. He has his dance class. I already texted him actually." Kate simply said.

Ugh can you please stop talking about your womanizer boyfriend? I'm here. I'm the one who taking care of you and went here only to make you smile but at least take a look at me.

"You okay?" Kate waves her hand in front of my face.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I smile at her and keep feeding her.

"Sam, enough." Kate shakes her head.

"But you have to eat." I said to her. "Once more okay."

"I'm not feeling well." Kate shakes her head.

"Once more. I promise." I said to her and feed her the last spoon of soup. After that I give her a glass of drink and she drink the water. "Now your medicine." I take the medicine and give it to her and she drink that.

"I guess I'm gonna get amnesia because too much drink painkillers." Kate says to me.

"You wont be." I chuckle. "Okay take a rest now. Jake will come this evening." I said to her.

"I hope so." Kate sighs and lay her body in her bed.

I pull the blanket to cover her body and rub her hair. She closes her eyes and hug her teddy. To be honest, I want to stay here with her even forever. I want to take care of her and be someone that she was looking for but this time is totally different. I might be the one who's here but I wasnt the person that she was looking for.

I keep looking at her and rubs her hair then stand up from her bed. I take the empty bowl and bring it out from her room and bring McConaughey with me.

"Finally get her down to sleep and ate this soup." I said while walk downstairs.

"She did?" Kurt asks me.

"Yes." I nodded. "Now, time to looking for a house for this puppy." I said and place the bowl in the sink.

"Ah I got something in the backyard. Come here, Sam." Burt says to me and walk to the backyard.

I keep holding this puppy and bring it to the backyard. Burt takes a cage. A cage that used to be a cat or puppy cage actually.

"What is this?" I ask Burt.

"This is used to be her mom's cat cage. But since we found out that Kurt got allergic with Kate so we gave that cat to pet care and their mom kept this." Burt says to me.

"Big enough for McConaughey." I chuckle.

"I knew that." Burt says to me.

"Know what?" I raise my eyebrows.

"You're into my daughter." Burt simply said.

"How could you know that? I guess I didnt tell anyone else except Finn." I frown.

"No one had to tell me, buddy. I'm her father. I know my daughter so bad. She is beautiful, attractive, and talented also smart. How cant a guy not falling in love with her? You, Blaine, and her are already became bestfriend since junior year but I know it. Blaine is gay and you're not and the way you looked at her is different." Burt says to me.

"But she loves someone else." I simply said.

"If you love someone you dont need to be with her. You think I didnt love her mom? I love her even bigger than myself and I even wanna exchange everything I have only to spend my last ten minutes with her. Listen, I found my true love twice. And I married them. Just dont ever give up. Who knows that she dates Puckerman but she marry you? Nobody knows that, Sam." Burt says to me.

"Wow. I didnt know you know." I chuckle.

"Those affection and the way you look at her is different. I can see that." Burt chuckles.

"But dont tell this to her." I said to him.

"I wont. Unless you tell her by yourself. Listen, if you love a girl but she loves someone else, just let her go. But if you really love this girl, dont ever let her go and dont give up because she might be one of your true love." Burt says to me and walks back to the house bring the dog cage.

I just being quiet and keep holding this puppy. Yeah he might be right. But I wont give up especially let her go. Puckerman will always be a Puckerman and there will be a time when Kate comes to me and begged for my love. Just wait for that.

Kate's POV

I open my eyes and my room is full of decorations of love, pink, roses, and a new teddy bear also a stalk of red rose next to me. Who the hell did this? Jake? Impossible. He is not a romantic guy. But who else it could be? He is my boyfriend and this is our first valentines.

"Surprise!" Jake walk out from my walk-in closet and throw some love balloons.

"You did this?" I chuckle.

"Yes, I was sneaking out to get in and decorate this room and I dont get it why you didnt wake up." Jake says to me.

"You did?" I raise my eyebrows.

"Nah, your brother was downstairs and he let me in. And I dont wanna miss my first valentines day with you." Jake says to me and sit down on the edge of my bed.

"I'm sorry but I have to bedrest at least until my cough and sore throat gone also my nassal voice and my flu." I said sadly.

"You still look pale though. And that's fine. The thing is I'm here and we can celebrate our valentines day together." Jake smiles at me.

"I love you." I smile back at him.

"I love you too. Mwah." Jake kisses my lips and smiles at me.

"And I didnt wake up because my medicine really made me sleepy and I cant handle that." I said to him.

"That's good. You can take a lot of rest so you will get recovery faster." Jake rubs my cheek. "Ugh still warm."

"It's still 101.1 degrees." I sigh.

"It's okay. I skipped school to come here meet you." Jake smiles at me and change the compress on my forehead with another one.

"Thank you." I giggle.

Suddenly the puppy that Sam and Blaine give me walks into my room and jumps to the sofa near my window and lay down there.

"Whose that puppy?" Jake asks me.

"Me. Blaine and Sam gave it that to me as valentines gift and to make me feel better." I said to Jake.

"How sweet." Jake smiles at me. "Well, I also have this teddy for you include the flowers, and my heart."

"Stop being so cheesy." I chuckle and trying to sit up on my bed and lean my back against the wall.

"Feeling better?" Jake asks me.

"My head still spinning around sometimes." I said to Jake.

"Alright. I'll be right back. I will make brunch for you." Jake stand up from his seat and kisses my forehead.

"I wanna walk downstairs." I said to him.

"But you still got fever and I'm not sure your brother will let you. Stay here. I'll be back." Jake smiles at me and walk away from my room.

I let out a sigh and take the tv remote from my side table and turn on the tv. Glad that my dad give the tv back into my room so it wont be really boring at all.

I turn my face and take the teddy next to me. I touch the chest and a voice come out 'I love you'. I chuckle and hold the teddy. This is really sweet but I dont know why I like the puppy that Blaine and Sam gave me better.

The puppy looking at me. I chuckle and he jumps from my sofa to my lap. I guess Blaine and Sam whisper something on his ear to taking care of me.

"Kate, I want to go to McKinley, are you okay if I leave you alone?" Kurt asks me.

"Jake is downstair right? Just go. You can see Blaine." I smile at Kurt.

"Want me to buy something to make you feel better?" Kurt asks me.

"Can I eat fruit pancake from IHOP?" I ask Kurt.

"Sure. I will buy that one for you. Take care. And if you need something speed-dial me." Kurt smiles at me and walk away.

This is boring. It's been two days I'm stuck in my room. I really want to go out but my parents never allow me to go out until my fever is really gone.

Jake walks into my room bring a food tray. I raise my eyebrows and he sit down on the edge of my bed and place the food tray on my side table and take the bowl from food tray.

"You can cook?" I chuckle.

"I lived only with my mom and she is busy with her job so when I get hungry, I cooked by myself." Jake says to me and start feeding me.

"That's little bit hot." I said to him and take glass of water from my side table.

"Oh I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. It's just done and I took it." Jake says to me.

"It's okay. Well, just dont go anywhere. I dont wanna be alone." I said to Jake.

"I wont leave you alone here, baby." Jake smiles at me and rubs my cheek. "Okay just eat this brunch." Jake says and keep feeding me slowly.

I cant believe that this little Puckerman is such a sweet one. I mean he want to skip school and taking care of me. How sweet is that. And now, I know that Jake is really loves me.

"The fever is gone." Carole says as she hold the thermometer after checking me out.

"So I can go to Mr. Schue's wedding right?" I ask them.

"No." Dad simply shake his head.

"No, honey. You still have to stay at home. It's cold outside even though your fever is gone." Carole says to me.

"I'm bored at home." I said sadly.

"But you cant go out." Dad says to me.

"We'll back home after the ceremony begin. We wont attend the receptions, one hour and we'll be back home okay." Carole says to me.

"Alright." I nodded.

"Take care. If need something call me." Dad says to me and walk out from my room.

Carole pulls the blanket to cover up my body and walk out from my room. I let out a sigh and hug my teddy bear that Jake give me. It will be boring.

I turn off the tv and take my blanket and hold my teddy. I stand up from my bed and wear my slipper sleep then walk out from my room. My puppy turn his face at me and walk follows me to downstair.

I walk to downstairs and lay my body on the sofa then turn on the tv and dvd and start watching tv. I cover my body with the blanket and hug the teddy. My puppy lay down on my stomach like he doesnt wanna let me go. This is really cute.

I leave my teddy and hug my puppy while make aslant facing the tv. This puppy just licking my face. I chuckle and turn my face to this puppy. Blaine and Sam were really know that this puppy can make me happy.

Few Hours Later

I'm still laying down in the sofa and watching tv. It's been more than a hour and no one of my parents even my brothers go back home. Ugh they must be attend the reception and I'm stuck here alone.

"Kate, you're home?" Sam shouts.

"Here." I roll my eyes.

"Hey, the door unlocked and I though you were sleeping." Sam walks in and sit down on the other sofa wearing his black suit and tie.

"The door was locked but you can open it. You know where my parents hide the key." I roll my eyes.

"Now you know that." Sam makes an impression.

"Why are you here? Arent you supposed to be in the wedding receptions?" I ask Sam.

"The bride run away from the altar." Sam simply said.

"What?" I frown.

"Yes, Ms. Pillsburry ran away from the altar and left Mr. Schue with embarassment. He still held the receptions since his parents and Ms. Pillsburry parents already paid everything but I'm bored since I'm no allowed to drink any wine and everyone got dance." Sam says to me.

"Even Jake?" I raise my eyebrows.

"He was dancing with Marley and Ryder." Sam simply said.

"Oh I see." I simply nodded. "Ugh and why are you here?"

"This is my second home, easy dude." Sam frowns at me and drink my water.

"I'm contagious, Sam. You will get flu later." I said to Sam.

"Not gonna happen." Sam simply shake his head.

"Whatever, Sam." I sigh.

"Feeling better?" Sam asks me.

"The fever is gone but my throat is still sore and my head is still spinning around a bit the effect of my sinusitis." I said to Sam. "I really love the puppy you and Blaine gave me. It's like he is taking care of me and hug me when I'm bored." I giggle.

"That's good then." Sam grins at me. "I was just wondering, will you run away like that when we get married?" Sam frowns at me.

"We? Us? You and I? Me and you?" I frown at Sam.

"Yes. I was just wondering if we both still unmarried until we 27th what about we marry each other?" Sam grins at me.

I chuckle and shake my head. "That's a great idea. And one year after that I will divorce you." I chuckle.

"And no divorce until we find the right people to be marry." Sam says to me.

"Fine by me." I nodded.

"Good then." Sam chuckles.

I chuckle and shake my head then turn my face to the tv. Sam is crazy and I dont understand how could I friended him since the first time.
